i doubt you'll get a response.  taoistguy bumped it from march.

not necessarily arguing your point CFT, but I can focus on the sound and hear it even when there is other aural stimuli around.

maybe they're just kids who develop early and have always been on earth, but they took on a metaphysical/new age meaning when the need for such a thing arose.  perhaps the "connected" child, the prodigy, is an archetype of sorts that emerges in society to fulfill a psychic (of the psyche) need of the collective.  who knows, maybe they're freaky children from the stars.

no. sorry  :|

they got it from conspiracy theories.

you know, ancient astronauts, interdimensional alien hordes, shapeshifters, annunaki, nibiru, all that jazz.

The universe is NOT an illusion. It is a real tangible thing held together by strict physical laws which again, have not changed throughout the life of our universe. I know it is not an illusion because I could kill every part of life on this planet, and the universe would continue, un-phased. We are like a single atom from a speck of dust in a giants eye, we know very little about the big picture.

that's all a pretty tall claim for knowing very little of the big picture.

everything we think about reality is dictated by the biases of our survival on this planet, around this sun, in this galaxy, in this cluster, etc. etc. on into infinity.  our paradigm of reality is what we, as a species, see through our unique perspective.  we are collectively viewing the whole of reality from one very specific scale and position.  one amongst as many as you can imagine.  interpretation of data can never be the unbiased glory that it is before we look at it.

so the easy answer is spend more time in meditation learning to maintain singular focus.  learn to observe the emotion and not react to it.

that coupled with practice (trial and error) in LDs.

Welcome to Magic! / Re: Why MAGIC isn't a BAD word.
December 01, 2010, 18:50:00
makes perfect sense.

any action that one takes with the intent of moving energy is magic.  honestly, the simplest choices we make every day are magic, even if we aren't fully aware of the complexity of these little choices.

what's the saying, any sufficiently advanced technology appears as magic?  that's my point.  magic is just an understanding of the energy behind reality and the proper way to move it.

i still use "ceremonial" ritual, but i use it purely as a physical representation of astral energies.

i completely agree eflynn.

at the time that was the best way i could describe what you do with your eyes.  in truth, what i was trying to get at was the elimination of physical eyes from the equation.  the eyes constantly make micromovements to make sure that there is no danger in the immediate environment.  This makes focusing hard.  We have a tendency to associate our 'I' with the space behind our eyes, so it can be hard to break focus from trying to see something.  the goal in the original instruction was to just stare blankly into the darkness and let your eyes go to sleep.  I have since found that it's not as easy as all that.

So, good call.

you can't really buy a "self"-hypnosis cd.  that would just by a hypnosis cd.

what you can do is buy a book that teaches you to write your own self-hypnosis scripts (Bruce Goldberg is a good author) and get a digital voice recorder and record your own tracks.

what i've done in the past is use the Journeys Out of the Body Hemi Sync Condition D and layered self-hypnosis scripts that i wrote over top.  you would need basic audio editing software to do it, but it's really not hard.

i've been reading a lot lately about perceiving the astral through senses other than sight.

the Canterbury Institute found that about 90% of people are more visually oriented in AP, but many people experience the astral through other senses.  So try to "sense" things, smell them, touch them, hear them.  In the astral these senses are heightened and you can "see" the astral differently through each sense just as vividly as you'd actually see it.  Most people are primarily visual, but everyone has an amalgam of sense experiences in the astral.  If one sense isn't responding, try another to focus on.

big shrimp become indigo children....

i know that's just a way of explaining something that we don't really know anything about, but seriously?  big shrimp?

grzaz,

I was told by an old boss that i was indigo.  I suppose it makes sense in a way, I certainly am different from most people I grew up around and most people I interact with today.  I never really bought into it though.

However, I was reading a book last night (Astral Travel by Gavin & Yvonne Frost) and they were talking about complexity increasing in the mundane and astral.  It could make sense that you call them "system busters" in this paradigm of increasing complexity.  The system evolved and necessary individuals (these indigos) were brought in to help take the next step.  Interesting.

meh, still don't know how I feel about the whole thing.

so we're being 'naughty' by learning to project?

that's the basic message of the seth book i posted.

densities are like different levels of a RTZ or something like it.

can you show me where scientists agree on that?

i mean, i would absolutely love to see the research.  i believe that anyway, but I have yet to meet a scientist who will wholeheartedly agree.  i'm a psych student so i get to talk to a lot of researchers and they have never agreed with me on that point.  it's even difficult to talk about memory being a non-local phenomena.  they are open to the idea, but clam up a bit when we talk about it.

my boss always says that Castaneda's books were true/real and she says it with a confidence that makes me think she knows something that the average Castaneda reader doesn't.

cells might not have awareness as we think of it, but they are certainly aware of their position and the position of their neighbors.  whether they're aware of the larger universe that they exist in (the body) i can't say, but i'm sure they are aware in some sense (not lesser or greater than our own, just different).
