wow, fenris, your friend is amazing! that would be sooooooo cool! :) and yeah, i need to start training again.

awww, poor mobius  :) funny story though.

adam: reiki! that's one that i forgot to mention i don't know much about! thanks for reminding me. all i know about reiki is that it is supposed to be some form of god energy that comes into the reiki healer and is channeled through the reiki healer's body into the victim... I MEAN RECIPIENT! RECIPIENT!  :)  and i have no idea what it is since i have not felt it.

and also, both the hard and soft methods are dynamic, since static means, roughly, "not changing". and i theorized this because ki is easier to use when my muscles are flexed whereas chi is easier to use when my muscles are relaxed (but i can use ki when relaxed and chi when flexing, proving that they are different things.). many people somehow think they are the same thing, but they really aren't. they are SIMILAR, but not identical, and not the same. another mixup comes from the something else i have discovered; chi can be burned off as fuel for ki.

as for cultivation, the only methods i have seen for cultivating ki are the methods used for cultivating hadou ki (gathering the ki of other living things) in the street fighter II V series. i have seen and read about methods for cultivating chi from chinese sources that were translated into english, and from websites devoted to chinese cultual and martial art "things". but i have not seen any japanese source that has been translated into english nor any websites that talk about japanese ki that give any method for cultivating ki. this is another reason why i say they are two different things; research has shown so (the other reason being experience).

(sorry if i get longwinded on this stuff, but it is the only metaphysical topic of which i have researched much and have experienced much of, so i like to talk  :)  )

Welcome to Metaphysics! / A Shadow Aura
July 28, 2002, 14:01:53
well, i'm can't see auras (that i know of  ;)  ), but i have seen some weird things lately and was wondering if someone could also help me out.

while i trying to get psionics to work (psychokinesis) i was staring at my watch and trying to will it to move when i noticed something; around my watch was what looked like a magnetic field. it looked like a distortion of space, non-coloured, and sort of (but not exactly) like a heatwave. i realize that this description doesn't sound like an aura, but if anyone knows what this is, it would be pretty nice to know. THANKS!!!  :)

actually, i tried doing a dream walk last monday night and, come to think of it, the beginning part of it felt like i was collapsing the area that my mind occupies into a much smaller area, then focusing that area on "punching through" some sort of reality thing. then i felt like i was moving through a tunnel, and eventually i felt like i was dreaming while awake. really weird, probably like astral travel, but using my mind. but, i have no idea if this was a hallucination or genuine  :P  so, whatever.  :)

have fun, drink beer, stay young.

fenris: well at least i didn't mistake your "stpidity" with stupidity  :p  . just kidding.

james: that's a nice story to hear (about the healer). yeah, in the bible it says that any church that helps widows and gives to the poor is a church of the Christ, so i guess you could also take that to mean that any person who helps others is also a goodly and Godly person, no matter how they help others (1 corinthians 13:1-13 talks about loving others when you help them).

"This minister, and those like him, I believe are what it's all about, not the noise and hype of the "look at me" preachers." this is the best way i have never yet been able to put it  ;)  . i knew this concept in my head, but i was having trouble putting it into words that were completely true. thanks.

4x2? we call them 2x4's up here  :)  . yeah they hurt. but it more ended up being that everything in my life just went to sh*t and i could feel a constant feeling of anger and disappointment. until i backed down from my position, at which point everything went to normal again.

chohan: "As for magic... if you have faith in Jehovah and Messiah then imho I feel you are barking up the wrong tree. If Moses, Elijah and Yeshua were magicians then Franz Bardon is my mom." this is kind of confusing. in the first sentence, you seem to be saying that god is a hoax, and in the next you are saying that people-who-say moses and elijah and yeshua were fakes are wrong. am i reading this right?

ya know CP, many people have had bad kundalini awakenings using all natural means, so i think it would be a pretty bad idea to try using technology to help (since you can't completely appreciate or anticipate what could be happening as a side-effect(s)). just a caution. if you feel that you want to continue, that is your choice of course.

well the most frightening experience i have had that pertains to sleeping, that i remember, was when i was like 15 and i was trying to get to sleep one night (i sleep in the basement with no light at all) and i kept getting a chill running through me. it was for no reason that i could figure out. i just kept getting the feeling that i was in mortal danger, as though a giant monster or a killer would come through my door (or was already in my room) and would kill me. i was terrified so much that i turned on the light and searched my room. i then turned off the light and went back to bed. but the feeling began again. i was scared for my life without reason. so i thought it over and resolved to trust in God completely. i then prayed to God and asked him to either protect me or make my passing over an easy one if i was to die that night. then i just decided that if i were to die that it would be my time and that God would make it easy on me, so i threw away the fear and went to bed.

as to my worst nightmare, well, i have the feeling that i have had one, but i can't remember what it is. as well, attached to that feeling of having had one is a mental note that it probably had to do with my future and that i don't remember it because it is not time for me to remember.

the most disturbing dream i have had (not terrifying, nor a nightmare) was one i had when i was like 8, but it wasn't disturbing at the time, just cool. i was running along the coulees behind my house, and i knew that i was running from something that was chasing me. i wasn't overly concerned for some reason, but i did know i wasn't stupid enough to confront it. so i was running along and i noticed that the coulees looked different; the part of the coulees that i was in was a deep and wide crevice in the ground with tall sheer cliffs on either side of it, but in the dream the entire area was "smoothed" out so that the cliffs were now semi-gentle slopes that led right to the bottom and then back up the other side.

so i was running along that when i saw a girl lying on the ground unconscious just a little ways up and in my path. i don't know how i knew it was a girl because the image was just a black shape in the shape of a human, but i did. in the dream i realized that i had to help this girl or whatever was behind me would get her and i didn't want that. so i picked her up on my way (still just a shadow) and continued until i saw a bridge that gapped the bottom of the "crevice". i went onto the bridge and then stopped, opened a trap door and took me and the girl inside. i then waited. as i waited, an army marched over head, and it felt as though they were searching for me and that i shouldn't be caught by them. well, they passed, and in order to protect the girl from being found, i decided to lead them away from her.

i got out of the trapdoor, and ran alongside the army until i got to the front of it, and i then started jeering at them and calling them on so they would follow me rather than go back and possibly find the girl. well, for some reason i was faster than they could ever hope to be (in fact i felt like i was far more powerful than a human should be, and that i was almost toying with them in my demeaner) so i kept far in front of them until i came to a cliff. i jumped off without hesitation, knowing the army would follow, but only after i jumped did i realize that i would no longer be able to help the girl if she needed it. then i woke up, half way through the fall, with that last thought of not being able to help the girl still on my mind.

cool, right? i thought so too, until a couple of years after the dream when the city went in and bulldozed that area of the coulees so that it looked exactly like it did in my dreams. there is still no bridge there, but i get the feeling there will be someday. also, during the period between the dream and the bulldozing, i was given a series of five visions (in my waking hours) that showed there would be a war coming (i PM'ed cainam with the visions a while ago, so if cainam still has them i give him full permission to forward them to anyone who asks, since i don't have a copy and it would be a pain to rewrite them  :)  ). very disturbing. (even more disturbing when you take into account that i actually now have friends that are girls, and one of those friends looks to be the exact size and shape as the shadow-human and that she is somehow related to my fate).

sorry for it being so long.  :)

oh, james: sorry i forgot about you. that's a crappy church; i have heard of other instances like that too. makes me sad to think that supposed christians are so close minded. if their faith was stronger they could challenge their beliefs and really figure out what to keep and what can go (ie all the unscriptural and unfounded biases against the paranormal). (as a side note, there used to be times in my life where i wanted to go into such churches and just start calling them hypocrites and stuff, but when i asked God to give me the authority and power to do so, i was told such worldly affairs was none of my business, and even if it were God would take care of those who were using his name in vain himself, not me.)

the congregation i am going to right now has had some "miracle healing" as the preacher put it (i didn't witness it though), but the congregation is still really conservative in their beliefs and traditions; shows they are open minded enough to know that good things are good things, whether the good thing came from God or not.

sorry for being a pain, but i want to analyze this (yeah, i know you were only drawing similarities rather than saying they were the same thing, so please don't feel bad that i am doing this? please?)

"Gift of prophecy = clairvoyance"
well, not quite. clairvoyance is seeing things without using your physical eyes. prophecy is knowing about the future (and in the case of the prophets of old, having the job of telling people about jehovah's will for those particular people. and i don't think most of the prophets thought of it as a gift :D  )

"Gift of healing = psychic or faith healing"
yeah. pretty much the same. even the gift of healing

"Gift of miracles = telekinesis"
actually miracles involved way more than just moving things. it including doing anything that was so blatantly impossible that people had to believe it was coming from the power of God. actually, i think magic would be a closer parallel, since you can do some pretty amazing things with it and fake people into believing that you are from god, or even a god.

"Gift of wisdom = spirit guides"
wisdom being internal and spirit guide being external, and spirit guides can do other things, like point things out. wisdom is just an understanding.

"Gift of tounges = mediumship"
i take mediumship to be like having spiritual beings talk through you (hence you being the medium), but the gift of tounges was being able to talk and having everybody, no matter their language, being able to understand your words (though not neccessarily your message  :)  ).

thanks for the paralleling james, hopefully others will also get some insight from them.

"You'll know when you really tinkle God off, and I'll bet you'll find you can't". oh i have. it wasn't easy, but i did. it wasn't pretty either. but he was still very tolerant of me (rather than blasting me into itty bitty pieces immediatly) because, i guess, he understood that the way i was feeling at that time was due to the training he is putting me through (he didn't let me know about this particular training until a long time after it started), and because he most likely knew it was gonna happen since way before my birth. but, yeah, i really don't recommend it.

fenris: Mr? sorry, but i don't like people calling me that. i am still just a kid in my own mind and heart. if you feel right about calling me that, then go ahead, but i just don't feel right about people calling me that (hope i am not hurting your feelings).

yes, i do believe that jehovah created all things, including the energies and whatnot, but it is so hard to discern the will of jehovah from just a belief that i "know" his will. i know that to be a christian i am supposed to put my faith in jehovah and he will take care of me. which means that using energy for my own purposes is like saying, " i am not yours, i am still mine".

sorry for the confusingness of my posting, but i am kindof going through a duality of lives being lived (or a triality depending on how you look at it): on one hand a complete christian, devote in everything and "giving" my life completely to jehovah; on the other hand training for my fate which will occur in the future, where i will not be able to give my entire life to jehovah, but to act on my own still along the paths of christian morals; on the third hand (too bad i'm not a mutant or this might be easier  :)  ) i am trying to learn how to live a "normal" life (like making friends and dating and stuff) because my fate won't happen for a long time and i have to do something other than training until i get there (like remembering why life is worth having and protecting). my life has been confusing since shortly after i was baptized, when i realized that i understood more about the true christian ways than most people, so i prayed to God for more understanding and i guess i just got to much knowledge. life has never been so basic since then.

ok. i think i have it figured out. i know that Jehovah gave us the ability to use these energies so using them isn't bad, in and of itself. however, i have always had this preconcieved notion that magic is only used by people who use it for personal gain and that their magic is like their god. however, i have also gained some insight into the fact that magic can be strongly linked to doing bad things, and it was my preconcieved notions that prevented me from being able to see that magic can also be used for righteous things (ides' posts got me thinking about this. thanks ides). i had the notion that people use magic for selfish reasons, and what selfish person would use magic towards righteousness? but now i am starting to see that magic is just another force that is used by good people and bad people (unfortunately) and it is the focus of the user that decides if the user is good or bad (just like with anything else).

but there is still the idea that magic is used to control things, rather than working in tandem with the natural ways of the universe(s). i keep getting this picture in my head of someone using magic to "force" an angel to come to him/her and do his/her bidding; i guess i need to change this to a picture of someone using magic to call an angel to ask the angel to do his/her bidding, just as someone would normally call to an angel and ask for help or a service. different medium for the same task. but i guess there are mages out there who use their power to work with the natural ways instead of trying to have control over them.

i think i am starting to get it worked out in my mind. i just needed to put my thoughts out and to get others to help get all the parts of the puzzle together so i could look at them and see how they fit together.

*THANKS EVERYONE*

now i only have to deal with the scriptures about jehovah saying all sorcerers being cast into hell, or something like that  :)  . i will pray for understanding and knowledge regarding them.

i have experienced some weird occurences with my energy, but i wouldn't call it psychic vampirism.

i was walking home one day (after having just been given a plain metal ring by someone who said they found it) and i felt all my energy leave me. it wasn't being taken, it was just leaving. i thought about trying to stop it, but i owed an "essence" lots of energy, so if it was that one that was taking some back, i had no right to stop it (especially if it needed energy so badly that it had to take it from me). and there have been other times when i just suddenly had loads of energy for no reason that i could discern, so "a penny gained is a penny lost", or something.

i have tried stealing other people's energy a few times, but the people around me don't have very much in the first place, so even if i were to leech all of it (i don't, i only skim a bit off of lots of people) i wouldn't get very much. although, i once started pulling on someone's energy to see if they were "not normal", and she pulled back on mine, allowing me to know that she was indeed "not normal".

also, i didn't like other people because i saw all the b.s. in their lives and i didn't want to be anywhere near that. and whenever i did say something that seemed like common sense to me, other people just didn't get it, and i don't like taking the time to explain things. so easier for me to avoid people. that's why i am here, to talk with people who can understand me and like me or hate me for who i am, not because they don't know me.

Fenris, those "eastern" energy types you wanted. i don't know much compared to what someone growing up in those areas would probably know, but i have figured out a few misconceptions that americans have through my research. i will try to give you info on them that comes from the cultural mysticism as well as knowledge i have from my own experiences. and also, please be aware that i am only giving short descriptions as each of these alone DOES take up full books for authors to explain more completely.

CHI
the only references to chi i can find are the ones that point to it originating from china. used in the martial arts, it is portrayed in their movies (ie, Crouching Tigger Hidden Dragon) but is even more important to their everyday lives. it is used in medicine, in business, and in personal tasks (or at least, it is by the more conservative families). i have seen no references to how the chinese developed it, or how it originated, and i have seen a few indications that such knowledge is completely lost.

a gentle energy that flows through all things. it travels in paths around the world, called veins by the wicca (and i have seen some places call them leylines). it is by no means a personal energy, but a person can absorb amounts and keep this energy to themselves, thus making it "theirs".

it can be used in combat situations by using it to supplement or reinforce natural skills and attributes of the user, by gathering it in mass amounts and forcing it at someone, or by "seeping" it into your opponent and leaking their ability to perform skills and use or hold energy.

it is most commonly seperated into two types (though i have seen some other types): positive and negative. positive chi is most easily used for healing and helping people; its presence alone promotes good health and happiness. negative chi is most easily used to harming people; its presence alone promotes degradation of health and unhappiness. a skilled user of chi can use either form without the side-effects, and may even be able to use each type to do what the other is meant for (ie, using negative chi to heal someone), but the method of application would be different. also, they feel different from one another.

chi can easily affect the spirit, but seems as though it needs to be modified ever so slightly to be able to affect physical things: this being said because i can do many weird and powerful things with chi to people, but i can't even use chi to move small pinwheels. (the only exception that i can find to me being unable to affect physical things with chi, is being able to manipulate wind, and being able to stop papers and bags that are blowing in the wind from blowing in the wind). this energy is very manipulatable, almost as manipulatable as magic, and can do many things.

KI
the word being taken from the chinese qi/chi (pronounced the same which is probably where the mixup in the japanese spelling came from), the japanese developed ki rather than chi in their society. i have found no evidence to show how this came about, but i speculate that the japanese hard martial arts are what contributed to the learning of ki rather than chi (chi was widely used in the chinese martial arts which were composed more of soft martial arts than any hard ones); this is supported by the references that show the japanese adapted the open hand forms of martial arts from the chinese (after all, karate originally meant "china hands" rather than "empty hands" as it is now translated).

i don't know as much about this energy, but from what i have seen of it, it works pretty much exactly like it is portrayed on dragon ball z (except REAL people don't get powerful enough to blow up mountains  :)  ) and in the street fighter movies and series (and please realize that hadou is a different form of ki). much of the research i have done on ki showed that it was different from chi, except the research i got from north american sources which seem to think they are the same thing. it is a personal form of energy that is either difficult or impossible to share between people. it IS able to affect other people, but for one person to give up their ki so that another can store it is something that i have not been able to discern if it is possible; if it is possible, it is a lot less easily done than with chi. my ki starts in my stomach area normally (and i have read many descriptions that say the same thing) and spreads out from there, however i can use ki at any part of my body using that body part only (ie, i can get my arm to use ki while the rest of my body is at spiritual "rest"). it seems to be more limited in scope as to what it can do, except when a person has excessive amounts of it and good skill at using it, at which point it seems to become less limited.

this is a very useful energy in combat if you are using a hard martial art and can even be used by those who use soft martial arts (though not as easily). the easiest things that i can do with ki are reinforcing my strength, speed, and to increase my body's ability to take a hit without being affected by it (ie twisting my ankle such that i can't walk on it, but still being able to fight on it as though it weren't injured when i use ki). i have found an ability to "throw" ki at people, but it is harder to do than with chi, it uses up a lot of personal energy to do so, and it only seems to affect them spiritually with me (i may not being throwing enough ki for people to be affected physically beyond merely setting off their nerves a bit).

i have only once seen anything that broke ki down to seperate types and that was in the Street Fighter Alpha movie when it broke it talks about dark ki. however, i have also felt the effects of dark ki and have taken the past year to try to understand what happened, so i feel that i can make comment on this with some authority on the subject. dark ki feels different from normal ki and the way it feels is the reason for why it is called "dark" ki; normal ki for me feels blue-ish tinged at its outermost "influence", dark ki feels black tinged at its outermost, and light ki feels white tinged at the outermost. all three forms feel completely transparent except at their outermost area. only once have i ever felt any of them as a solid colour, and that was when i lost control the one time (i talk about that incident in a different thread). dark ki brings out dark emotions, and in turn it takes dark emotions to use dark ki: hate, anger, wrath, lust for destruction, and feelings of superiority all contribute to generating dark ki. i do not know much about light ki so i am sorry that i cannot write anything on it.

Kundalini
found in east india, the energy of the spine is still fairly unknown and misunderstood in most of north america. robert knows more than i, and he even carried on a conversation regarding kundalini in another thread entitled "Kundalini", i think (i know the thread exists, but i am not totally sure of its name).

a serpent rising from the base of the spine to the top of the head, and higher, kundalini is proposed to be the true source of a human's consciousness. some people mistakingly call it chi, i don't know why though. i have very scattered knowledge and limited experience with kundalini. there is some talk about awakenings (which can be dangerous and even deadly, with side-effects lasting for years some research says). also, i don't know of any of the abilities that come with it, except all sources say that "enlightenment" comes with the awakening.

DONE. these are the only "eastern" ones i know of (magic and psionics are western). and please remember, that my info is not set in stone and i am not infallible.  :)

not extended, rodentmouse, straightened. by extended, i picture someone trying to pull their head up (as though they were on "the rack"). try sitting against a wall, and flattening you back against the wall; then move away from the wall, and straighten your back just like it was when it was against the wall. at first it will seem unnatural, but this is because people today slouch so much that slouching becomes natural.

by straightening your back, you should actually be able to breathe easier. nd don't forget to straighten you neck too; this should help a lot. also, when you straighten your back, you will feel like you are getting taller, but it is just the dynamics of what happens when something curved becomes straight. is that what you meant by extending it?

i got so used to straightening my spine while sitting cross-legged, that it felt more natural to do that than slouch. it just takes time to get used to.

did you still get your place in line?  :)

sounds like it COULD have been kundalini, but don't quote me on that. the electrical sparks up your upper spine are familiar to me, when i work with kundalini. and i have heard accounts of people who use kundalini who says something about it feeling like water; sometimes cold, sometimes hot. the immediately forgotten thing is something i have done a couple of times to show my "superiority" to others (to make sure they didn't try to start fights. like saying, "i am so much better than you, i don't even have to think about you"). and the thing about not being harmed also sounds like something i heard regarding kundalini (but that was in the Street Fighter II V series when dhalsim said he knew of no way to use kundalini as a martial art).

someone on this board mentioned something about a "water chi" schooling, a while back. so that may have been it. it could also have been psionic, telepathic "suggestions" that such things were happening to you, so your body made it happen. i can't say anything for sure, but i hope this may help in some way (like leading to a better explaination  :)  ).

well, next time you see him, give him a big "You JERK!" sensation  :p  . just make sure you have shields up and are ready to start a fight  :)  . and remember to order when your turn comes in line, even if you're still fighting.  lol.

try taking a break and thinking upon your progress. in the martial arts, to train only the body and not reflect upon your progress is considered very detrimental to your progress. there are times you hit a plateu in your training, when you must stop and think. remember why you are doing this, what you have been doing that works, and what you have been doing that doesn't work. in body building you cannot continually work on one set of muscles: you must give them more than double the time (i think it was double; 6 hours of training, 1 day of rest, right?) to rest that you took to train them.

you must give you self time to get used to what is happening; to adjust to your new skills. training and rest must be done in balance. when you hit a plateu, remember. this was the most natural thing for me to do when i was training the martial arts.

actaully alpha, it eats the fat first. your muscles get tired for a few hours after skipping a meal because they have no energy to burn (i guess it takes a while for your body to switch to digesting the fat rather than the stuff in your stomach) and so are fatigued easily.

read my post on personalities and dark ki and you will see where i am coming from.

Welcome to Spiritual Evolution! / higher self
July 22, 2002, 16:07:25
on a maybe interesting side note, when i was pondering something recently, i started hearing myself talking to myself and analysing everything that i was thinking about (actually this happens quite often). it wasn't some higher self, or god, but when i tracked down where the analysing was coming from i realized it was my brain.

for some reason, it seems that the mind and the brain really are two different things; when i tried to carry on a conversation with my brain, it couldn't do anything but analyze what i was saying and come up with a response based on some sort of processing it was doing (i could feel the processing going on, but i couldn't completely determine what was being processed).

i don't know if this adds anything to the discussion, but hey, information is information.

maybe you should try getting the feeling back into your legs before you stand up again. i know that last year i used to sit on fences and rails and stuff and when ever i just jumped down, i hurt the bottoms of my feet (even from a one foot drop). but if i took the time to move them a bit, and focus on them (and send energy to them), then when i jumped down it didn't hurt any more than what you would expect.

also, do you meditate with an absolutely straight spine, or a slouched back? by learning how to straighten my spine to the point where it became natural, i gained a great deal of ability to move my energy tons easier than before (but then i was easily singled out in crowds, so i stopped).

hope this helps.

nice theories, and it may be that sometimes it happens.

when i was a kid (like i'm not anymore  ;)  ) i was really shy. it wasn't because of spirits or demons or anything like that. i just didn't like being with other people. i never really figured out society's "rules" until i got into post-secondary schooling. i never knew how to act within the norms, so almost everything i did do got me laughed at; so i didn't do anything. i just stayed in the background. but then, that's just me. other people may feel like they are being pushed away from others because something is "telling them to". who knows? not i. time for research!  YAY!   (what a loser i am :)  ).

i don't use magic regularily (i have only cast one spell in my life), but i have a friend who uses magic and who still calls himself a christian. plus, another friend of mine (who can see demons and spirits) told me how when she procurred her friend's book on magic (the friend gave it willingly), she was burning it and the flames were fanning out from the fire and trying to burn her (even as she walked around the fire, the shoots of flame followed her movement). she told me that using magic books opens portals where demons can come through (now, she didn't say ALL magic books do this, or that magic books were the only ones that do this. but she didn't say SOME either).

so anyone got any ideas on this?

actually moses, aaron, and jesus (as well as all the other prophets) were not mages. according to the bible, they did not do the "works", Jehovah did.

what do you mean by "pieces of boilerplate for "fools""?

so, are you trying to say that according to the bible, Jehovah does not look down upon the practice of magic?

btw: i just looked up the verses i was looking at and they don't say magician, they say sorcerer (Malachi 3:5  Revelation 21:8  Revelation 22:15. you can go to http://bible.com/bibles.html to read the verses), but then what is the difference?

i think that the feeling of moving a long distance is because the mind is shutting down the consciousness's access to the brain, and with each part that you are no longer allowed to access, it feels like you are moving into a smaller and smaller (or farther and farther) place.

wow, you're good KP.

i've been trying (slack-@$$edly) for years, and have only gotten telekinesis to kind-of work when i was using energy as well. for fun, i stop papers and bags that are blowing about in the wind. so far, i can only get them to stick to the ground, but i have been experimenting (again slack-@$$edly  :)  ) with trying to move them in different directions and up and down. it will be pretty nifty, i hope, when it does work  :) .
