fenris: i don't know how open minded my parents are, but in order to avoid any confrontations with them, i always went out of my house to a park somewhere and did "my stuff" (although i never told my parents what i was doing because they respected my individualism). plus i was a complete night person; i could force myself to go to be at any time and have as much sleep as i need, but during the daytime i always felt tired and was always yawning. but during the night i was always full of energy, even if i hadn't slept the night before.

i suggest doing that you should try going out to a park or somewhere else to be alone when you can. preferabbly at night when "normal" people are too scared to be out, or are too tired from the days events to be out. this will give you plenty of solitude. and also, try reading at school rather than at home. i remember i always closed the web pages i was using whenever my parents started walking up the stairs (mostly out of paranoia since they didn't really know how to use a computer). as for your pentagram, why do you bother to wear it? have you enchanted it with something and you want to keep it for that reason, or is it more personal (like a girl friend gave it to you)? if you don't have a good reason to wear it, try just keeping it in a pocket until you get out of your house each day.

hope these help.

what's wrong with the real time? i seem to read a lot of posts talking about how people prefer the "other realms" over the real one and, even though i have never projected (with exception to the experienc i talked about in the oobe board "your first experience of obe") i think i would much rather be inclined to explore this planet and its wonders before ever bothering to try to go to another plane.

there are so many things that i would like to try if i ever get a controlled oobe, and they mostly have to do with how much i would be able to affect the real world during an oobe. after all, wouldn't it be cool if you could "manifest" even slightly? like when you wake up in the morning from your alarm clock, wouldn't it be cool if you could still lie in bed physically, but get up spiritually and turn off your alarm clock, gather up your clothes that you want to wear that day, go put some cereal in a bowl and BRING IT TO YOUR BODY :) ? or go to school in spirit form and learn while you aren't really there (like the saying goes "i am with you in spirit"). or go and "visit" your friends back home. I think that would be SOOOO cool! or get together with a "gaming group" and do fun stuff together! oh to be able to project.

yeah, i know that someone is going to eventually say that all those things aren't likely to be able to be done, but i would still LOVE to try; after all, i could learn other things from it :)

have pepsi, stay fun, drink young.

i have had two obe's in my life, and the only one i can remember was when i was baptized 6 years ago, when i was 14. as i was going into the water i closed my eyes but i could still see my legs and i felt the rest of my body. but i could also feel the hands and arms of the person holding me as well as feel his annoyance that i had let my legs fall out from under me as i was going in to the water :) .

i have had moments of clairvoyance as well, like when i once sparred with my friend and my back was turned to him, i could still "see" his attack in time to half block, half dodge it. and another time i was taking a road trip (kinda) and my eyes were closed. i was thinking about something when i all of a sudden saw the passenger in the front seat point at something to the left and above the vehicle, and the driver looked too. i was curious as to what they were looking at so i turned to look as well. that was when i realized my eyes were still shut! i then opened my eyes and asked if they had really done that and they said they had. so i thought "COOL!!!", but i am still not sure if this was a moment of clairvoyance or if it was an obe that wasn't so out of body  :) .

hello.
just to give grenade01 some credibility, i have also read somewhere about the chakra outside the body, but i read it a long time ago and i don't remember if it is supposed to be above the head or whereever. and since i only read it once i think it might be something that is fairly rare to hear about.

I've really been noticing this a lot lately so I'm trying to make a point of it to see what other people think. But I really dont think you can focus on shutting down an energy center, or on moving energy from it, because it seems any attention or awareness you give it, will actually stimulate it more. I think this is something really important...but of course I could be wrong
>>>

actually grenade01, i can easily move my energy about my body all the time, taking energy away from one area and moving it to another as easily as i breathe. it isn't that i focus on a different area and the energy just moves from other areas to that one, i actually grab my energy and pull/push it in the direction i want to go. but seeing as i don't use my chakras, this may be the reason as to why i can move my energy about so easily. it also might have to do with me using chi rather than whatever energy you guys use  :) . and before you ask, yes i can draw out energy from any area of my body so as to make that area totally devoid of any energy: i CAN do it... but i don't very often since it hurts.

personally, i am of the opinion that nearly anything can be done, i just have to learn HOW to do it  :)

a person's energy increases as they practice the martial asts because the focus is not just on the body, but also on spiritual development. and as your spirit becomes stronger, it can control more and more energy. that is why with more training comes more power. but also, with more training, comes more understanding of how to use the energy which feels like an increase in power, but is really just being able to use the energy more efficiently.

the idea that cainam talks about, when you don't just blindly punch but use your entire body to throw a punch (or do pretty much any maneuver), is merely a gain in physical skill that allows a person to use their energy more efficiently because their body is being more efficient. like if you mix sugar and water then try to affect the water (by say, dumping it out), you affect the sugar as well. it also is an increase in power because your body is using its natural structure to increase any damage dealt.

in the hard martial arts, when you throw a straight punch, you lock your wrist, lock your elbow, lock your shoulder, lock your waist, and lock your legs. but why? because when you lock all those joints, your body becomes stiff like a complete two by four rather than like a bunch of broken up pieces of wood that are being thrown at someone. in the soft martial arts, you use momentum and centrifugal force as well as other laws of motion (that you can learn about in physics class) that allow you to gain power from the start of your attack through to the end.

and so, when you gain in ability with energy, it is easier to use your body, and when you gain in ability with your body, it is easier to use your energy.

now throw the mind in their as well, as fenris is talking about with the idea of visualization, and you strengthen your entire being.

to answer you other question fenris, when i was training in the martial arts (and when i start again) i sometimes used visualization training on its own. i would sit down on the floor, cross my arms, and close my eyes. i would then imagine land that i would be standing on - any type of land will do, in fact the type of landscape can help you train in different ways. i would create the landscape completely - forcing gravity to occur, creating wind sometimes, putting little rocks and such in the area, and making sure that time and space worked like in the real world rather than in my mind. i would then imagine an opponent; i would create the opponent completely - i would give determine how intelligent it was, how strong it was, how fast it was, how skilled it was, and any special abilities it could use. then i would give my "avatar" (i forget the correct word) all of my own abilities and skills and then i would put my minds eye into my avatar. then i would fight my opponent, imagining what my opponent would do and how i would counter and how it would counter, ad infinitum. one other thing though, this works lots better if you actually let your muscles twitch with your movements - any time your avatar punches, your arm would twitch as though it was throwing a punch. this allows the body to get some training in as well as your mind.

this is why i don't like boxing or kickboxing, because they don't touch on the development of a human being as a whole human being, but only focuses on training the body.

hey cainam, what is MBA?

and to end on a lighter note: !!!! FIRE   FIRE !!!!  :)

well, then cainam, i must block your counter :)

regarding tae kwon doe, i really don't think that being able to kick someone in the head 10 times in the head in two seconds (and naturally, each kick must be a different maneuver just for the show ;)  ) could be considered self-defense. who needs that much skill and power for self-defense when most skilled fighters have a (personal or school based) code of honour and ethics that doesn't allow for the fighter to start a fight without really good cause? but, yeah i get what you are saying. although i guess i use a different idea for when self-defense is used rather than offensive fighting.

after all, most martial arts are action based, not reaction based; bruce lee's Jeet Kun Do is a good example of this as one of the ideas is that you must lead the fight rather than letting your opponent lead you. in fact, aikido and daito ryu are the only martial arts that i have heard of where it is taught as part of the martial art for you to wait for your opponent to attack before you should execute any maneuvers; that anything you do should be a reaction to your opponent's actions. in most other martial arts, the practicioner is cautioned to never start a fight, but if someone else starts it then you should actively take down your opponent(s) as quickly as possible.

ok, ok. so the martial arts WEREN'T created solely for the purpose of killing and waging war. my bad. they also incorporate spiritual and mental development to go along with the physical development, hoping to turn the martial artist into a powerful figure in more ways than just combat. but the main training is physically based - and more than that, combat based.

THANKS! that's the concept that i was trying to pin down, but my thoughts are rarely in order so i couldn't put write it right in my prior post. the reason i said to check out websites is because it isn't very easy to find true masters of martial arts where i am, and because websites usually clearly differentiate between the intent of the martial art, and an school/individual's belief as to what the martial art is for.

anyway, i guess i will try to add something regarding the original intent of this topic just to prove that my posts are validly here.  :)  actually, most chinese martial arts are already set up for the purpose of being able to incorporate chi into the art fairly easily. as you move your body, let your energy flow with your motions, and remember to keep your motions fluid. it is said that chi moves like water; it flows along a path that should not be jagged, but should be fluid. as the momentum of the water builds, the momentum of the energy will build and when you hit an object (including people) all that momentum and power is transfered. your instructor/master should show you how to incorporate the energy when you learn more about it. patience and understanding are the keys to learning.

it may also have to do with whether or not you are pulling your energy away from your physical body and focusing solely on your spirit, or if you are attaching your energy to your body when you move it around.

if you move your energy around in the space that your body occupies, it doesn't neccessarily mean that the energy is moving through your muscles and making them more energetic. it may be that you are merely moving your energy about in your spiritual body and somewhat disconnecting your body from your spirit.

it may be a good idea to wait until after the pregnancy is done. not everybody on the planet will benefit from everything. i have read some accounts of people trying to use some forms of energy and having major problems develop. so just in case, your partner should wait until after the pregnancy is over so that if any problems do develop, from trying something new that the body isn't used to, the baby won't be affected by them. it will also give you time to learn as much as you can so you can coach her more effectively when she does do it.

i have heard of an oriental "martial art" that uses extremely focused negative chi to be able to kill people just by touching them. the practicioners of the art tend to stop cutting their fingernails and let them grow really long. does anyone know the name of the art? cause i forget. thanks.

for people who are looking for information on chi or ki should look to oriental websites about martial arts because they tend to be more accurate than non-oriental websites. or just talk to the people who can use them (like that grand master  :).

as to the "intent" thing, it either partially or completely has to do with the use of chi. it is said that when you focus on an object or person your chi projects from you to the object or person, surrounding it and entering it. people can feel the energy, if the energy is great enough or the practicioner sensitive enough, and can sense when other people are focusing on them. if the person projecting the energy through their intent was powerful enough, then, like fenris said, the atmosphere of the room can change into what the person wants it to feel like. you can make the atmosphere more friendly, more hostile, happy, sad, etc. (also, the intent thing could be a mental force that makes the people within it's effects think, subconsciously, that something was different. like a mental attack of sorts.)

i think it has something to do with actually getting other peoples' energies to feel the same as the energy that the person is projecting, as well. cause i know that i went through a couple of experiences where other people modified my chi while it was in my body. one person turned it from positive chi into negative chi and making it feel like it was sinking into my chest, just by glaring at me. and the other one was so intent on proving that he was stronger than me that he actually made my chi "fearful". well, he didn't so much make the energy fearful as make it so that i felt fear whenever i felt my energy. it took me a couple of minutes to set my energy right after that.

btw martial means war, fenris :)  i think you mean that the practice of the art is for combat rather than excercise or discipline or self-defense. that is one of the biggest pet peaves i have against most martial arts "dojo"s today; the fact that they watered down the art so that people can use it safely when they were created for the express purpose of killing and war. kinda like using a computer to ONLY EVER do simple math. oh well

well, the communicating part seems to be starting to kick in now. everytime i have "impure" :)  thoughts about almost any girl that is standing around me, that girl tends to turn and look at me and then turn away. it's getting really annoying but it is a good way of forcing me to regain my mental self-control.

but the hearing is definately not linked to energy; it is a biological modification that is occuring because long ago i was trying to get my body to become "more perfect" and i guess i kinda set it on "automatic upgrade" mode and so now it won't stop changing. *sigh* oh well. i have started forcing it to tune down to a more bearable level though.

no, i haven't tried responding as though it were normal yet, because it ain't normal. i don't know whether it is some kinda traveller or a spirit that really does need help (though i could only begin to imagine what for). all i know is that i hear something calling my name sometimes.

when i hear the voice again i will try different ways of communicating with it, thanks for the help.  :)

nice story.

as to bonding to specific people: no. if i bond, then i do it to everyone as part of my getting to know people. i don't know if i bond though. regarding the people that i do hang around with a lot and respect, i tend to mimic them for a while (i take on many of their personality traits and their quirks and what-not). then i go back to being myself and i modify my self based upon what i learned about when i was "being someone else". if you wanna call that bonding, then go ahead, but i call it mimicing.

The difficult part is figuring out if certain things happen because you say something or because you didn't.
>>>
why bother to try and figure these things out? just let what happens happen, change the things you need/want to, and guide some events along the paths you think they should go along (as long as you KNOW that what you are doing is a good idea). help people when you can, and don't when you can't. not everyone will figure out everything (hell, probably no one will figure out everything) but you could help people figure out the things they want to figure out, right?

i've been trying to read people's minds for years, but since i'm rarely in a situation where i can have any proof that what i am "reading" is from their mind rather than my own mind, i can never be certain whether i am reading someone's mind or just going insane :) .

God complex, eh? i get that sometimes (well, more like a superiority complex). when i am frustrated with mankind for being SOOOO stupid about the simplest things. i don't mind the fact that most people won't ever do calculus in their head (i can't), or that people aren't professors of one or two subjects (i'm not), but when people don't understand a simple concept like "why do people fight" (especially when the person who doesn't get it has a superiority complex or something like that) then i really think that some people are just stupid. not that they aren't as smart as other people, but that they are REALLY REALLY STUPID! I mean, i don't have anything against people who have a mental disorder or ailment that prevents their mind from being able to develop, but i do have something against people who just don't think; it's like they are purposefully remaining weak (minded at least) when they don't have to be cause they just don't see that they are so weak.

as to cowan, never heard it before. i just call them "normal people". but i don't think of people with "special"/developed abilities or power to be seperate. i see all mankind as having the potential to find power and abilities that are usually only seen in fairy tales, and that those people who have started to develop their potential are merely humans who have taken a different route through life than normal people.

but what is wrong with proving one's own ability? as long as someone doesn't get hurt, either directly or indirectly, then does it matter if you violate someone's "personal boundary" if they don't know? i mean, sure it does sound rather evil to be saying that i don't care about other people's personal privacy, but as long as it remains private (ie I don't tell anyone and I don't act any differently to that person just because of what i know) then i don't see why i can't sometimes do something just a bit not-goodly. depending on what you call "a bit", i guess.  :)  i'm not a bad person, much :) , but all of these abilities are still just tools, to be done with as one would do with any other tool. but what ever. i guess i have shot myself in the foot a few too many times today to bother continuing :)

but anyway.

(accent of jackie's uncle in Jackie Chan Adventures)one more thing! my hearing has become so sensitive that it is almost impossible for me to not notice radio signals being sent through the air, and i have actually been able to use those signals to "hear" walls. and, as i was eating my bowl of stew the other day, everytime that i hit the metal spoon against the porcelain (sp?) bowl, my eardrums would vibrate and hurt a little. i don't know whether this means that my hearing is sensitive enough that i may be able to hear spirits, but this might be the case.

but the funnier thing is, i am not a hearing type person. by all the different mystical personality things i have taken, i am a feeling type person, and indeed i can feel lots of things. but i can't feel any entity behind the voice. i only, ever, always just hear it. it's rather strange.

A handfull of answers pertaining to the "voice". :)

1. Does it sound like some one you know?
no. it sounds like a woman but not anyone i know

2. Is it a soft gental voice or like a hard command?
soft. almost sounding like it wants my help

3. Does it say anything else or just your name?
just my name. my first name, only my first name.

4. Does it sound close or far off?
it always sounds like it is coming from the same place, no matter where i am, the voice always sounds like it is coming from right in front of the two walk-in coolers that are located in the staff area of the restaraunt.

5. Are you thoughts dwelling on anyone when you hear it?
no. usually, when i hear it i am focused on doing my job so completely that it's almost like a moving trance state. i have become very good at directing my body to do tasks without my conscious thought to control it, and it is usually when i am this state of mind that i hear the voice.

some other, maybe, helpful information: my brain has been picking up on other people's random thoughts for quite some time - sometimes i get an idea into my head seconds before someone else says it, or i will spout off an idea that just popped into my head and someone else will say that it was exactly what they were thinking, and when i am in class i sometimes "know" what the teacher is going to write on the board before he writes it (word for word) at the same time that i have my own thought about how the sentence should be structured.

also, i am an empath. i can sense what other people are feeling and i can sympathise with their joy or their pain even if i don't know why they are feeling what they do. an experience i once had with empathy was that as i was working, kindof in that trance-like state, i felt that a co-worker was crying in the downstairs of the staff area in the restaurant. i was completely swamped with work so i couldn't go down to see if i was right or if my mind was throwing random thoughts through my head, but later she told me that she had indeed gone downstairs and started crying because of personal matters.

and, i have been able to use chi for five years now. i don't know how this might help, but it may be worth telling. i found the energy on my own when i was testing self-hypnosis to see if it actually worked (i was quite disappointed in hypnosis) when i felt something moving within me. i spent the next three years learning about it on my own (by using it, not by researching it) because i wasn't sure if it was really happening or if it was just in my mind. eventually though i found out that it was chi and i have done some research on it since.

i don't know if any of that info helped, but whatever other info you need, just ask. :)

thank you. i have been having the peripheral thing happening for quite some time and i was sensing that those things were sometimes "life-forms" of some sort. the weirder part is that it usually happens at my work, and i also hear a voice sometimes call out to me while i am at work. never anywhere else. just at work. it always calls out my name and it is almost spooky. i have tried calling back to it mentally, spiritually, and physically, but since i work in a restaurant it would look kinda weird if i did this too much :) . and what is even weirder is that for a while after i had started trying to call back to the voice, it stopped (weeks). then, as soon as i forgot that the voice had ever happened, i heard it start up again. if you could offer me any insight into this, i would be greatly thankful.
