Sadly this is very true. Many people (often extremely vulnerable) are exploited due to people and organisations (often corrupt or barely within the law) purporting to be mediums, psychics, clairvoyants etc.

This is a great shame as individual and pubic trust is so often damaged by such cruelty! There are of course people who have been exemplars, and this is something any aspiring medium should aim to become.  

It is absolutely of paramount importantance that anyone who is prepared to offer themselves in service on the path of mediumship - should have amongst many other qualities: absolute integrity and come from a place that is only of unconditional love.

A good question to ask and it is sincerely hoped that my short reply is of some small comfort for you.

A rough cut note: I don't know if this adds weight to the discussion or not!

Looking at the basic mediumistic focus (attunement) outline steps rather than the role: -

Although I have been taught this (put other words) it seems that the aspiring medium will strive to do the following: -

Bring their awareness to their own en-souled spirit then go straight to attuning with the divine/god rather than deity in the theistic sense, become aware of the world of spirit, feel into/permeate with the world of soul, and be grounded yet mindful of oneself with the senses in the physical all at the same time!!!

This way when attempting to act as a medium one is more able to be a suitable instrument before even considering inviting communication with non physical beings etc.

This also serves as a protection and increases to power available to be able to work more effectively as the medium etc! Can you see how it negates all the clap trap about, reminants/shells (whatever you call em), thought forms, negs ... and is brings forth qualities worth aspiring too: like higher(truthful) guidance/inspiration and of course genuine one two one communication with loved ones etc. Or if compared with Frank and MajorTom's discussion on the Relative Plane: skipping out the astral and going direct to F27+/Park and so on!

What I feel tends to occur is people are either attempting communication without forethought and or are being poorly instructed regardless of their well meant intents (bless em)!

This is sometimes described as 'sitting in the power'.

Sounds like a third eye/vision screen experience. It's difficult not to associate it with the subject who came into view. It can appear to be opaque and floats as if before the eyes. With the addition of the scintillating edges it marries up in line with my experience.

It would tend to dissipate as you (your attention shifted) left the altered state and your mental focus came more back in line with the office environment.

If you had opportunity to remain slightly dissociated (yet mentally clear), you may well have been able to open your perception even more so and could possibly started to attune with your colleague. The attunement might include elements of intuition or awareness about her on many levels , and may have been supplemented by further clairyoyance including a deeper awareness of not only seeing her aura, but also an understanding of what the colours and their patterns represent. But then that may have been intrusive - but should give you food for thought when next you experience this type of thing.

As you have found out - the screen remains regardless of whether the eye lids are closed or not.

As an exercise - you might find it beneficial to sit in quiet mediation and simply act as observer of the screen when it appears again. Obviously this leads to the development of a whole range of insight (dependent on where you place your attention etc), but I'll leave that for you to discover!

Sorry to hear that your workshop experiences did not appear to provide objective evidence for you! Were your preconceived expectations outside the scope of the workshops you attended?

In the case of observing the human body aura: for clarity's sake I should have stated that I have experienced instances of auric vision (for the sake of a label) since childhood. I am now in my mid 40's, and over the last number of years (where time has allowed) have sought at least to make some sort of attempt to seek at least some understanding for myself as explanation for my perceptions. This is something I constantly review as I feel it foolhardy to be myopic in ones range of opinion in these matters!

For instance when attending psychic/spiritual development courses I have on occasion been able to compare notes with other attendees. Clearly the observations made during these events would have to be put down to subjective experience. However it is not as if we had expectations that the constraints of a scientifically controlled experiment would be applied during in these sorts of events! That was not part of my expectation for sure!

Is the average member of public really that naive when it comes to making decisions to choose to book a place for these types of workshop?

With respect to 'Astral trance channelling': -

As this may be beneficial to users tempted to play with certain forms of channelling:  would you be kind enough to provide a couple of illustrations in order to demonstrate why this is considered a very low and untrustworthy source? Your input might help them to mitigate risk taking with untrustworthy sources of communication etc?

Similarly if you have time could you elaborate on the concept 'Soul Trance Channelling' please, and perhaps show if this is different or not from the concept of a 'walk in' for example?

Personally I do not believe that the technology currently used for production of Aura Photographs at the likes of Psychic fairs is able to take an image representative of the human aura or human energy field at a subtle level.

What seems to befuddle us is that it appears to be still posible for a psychic to be able to carry out an interpretation or reading for a client from a copy of the image.

Why is this so do I hear one ask?

I feel that although the image is not a facsimile of the aura it still has an association with the subject. Therefore the sensitive individual would be able to perform a reading for the subject in the same way that they could carry out any form of psychometry. For instance with say for example a piece of jewellery or clothing etc.

Your money would be better invested in an auragraph. An auragraph is a hand made drawing prepared by a sensitive individual which represents colours taken from the aura of the subject. The psychic does not necessarily have to have ability to see the colours to do this as they can be impressed with the colours in their minds eye and then draw or paint accordingly. Incidentally it is not necessary to draw an accurate photo image with this method of working. One traditional way of presenting this is by drawing an outline of a fish. Subdividing the fish into '3' segments each representing past, present and potential for the future. The psychic would then be able to attune with the prepared drawing and provide a reading for their client. Similarly another sensitive should be able to carry out the reading with the very same image which should corroborate the initial interpretation. In practice this in not strictly true as each sensitive works slightly differently and the conditions prevailing may colour their interpretations etc. However the key elements of the readings should marry up etc.

If one were to become proficient with clairvoyantly reading auras then it would be posible to take a mental snapshot in time, and if artistically inclined be able to render a more meaningful aura representation than the poor facsimile aura photographs purport to demonstrate.

Some of the best images I have seen to date are the beautifully prepared examples in Barbara Ann Brennn's series of Healing books by the artists Thomas J, Schneider, Joan Tartaglia, and Jos. A. Smith.

One of the most exciting parts of Robert Bruce's workshop last year in Wales included an opportunity to perceive the aura of his son Ben. Many of the people participating were able to see (perhaps for the 1st time) including me, as Ben raised and manipulated his energy body (using Chi-Gung type exercises) how his aura changed shape/form, size, and colour etc.

One day I was driving my car to school listing to The Dark Side of the Moon by pink Floyd. Then suddenly I got a buzzing almost like a headache feeling in my head. This lasted for about 1/2 a minute. then I heard a voice say, "Hello Blake." in an Australian or English accent. I was very startled and replied,"Shut the [edit] Up." the voice replied, "OK" and then I got the Head buzz feeling again and he went away. This happened about a year ago and haven't experienced anything like it since. What can I do to reach this voice and apologize for my rudeness and find out what he had to say?

I can appreciate why this may have occurred. Listening music like DSM could possibly have put you into an altered state. This would have raised your level of consciousness and may have given opportunity for a visitor to avail of your more open awareness etc.

The tingling sensation you experienced is quite normal for this type of encounter and is a good indicator of the sensitivity associated with the possible presence of another conscious mind to your own. Although simply being aware of this type of sensation does not of itself mean that a communicator is present, more that your crown centre was more active than for normal for day to day awareness.

Clearly headache type feelings tend also to be experienced for a variety of reasons, which I will not go into here. However perhaps in your case this may have indicated the clearing of an energetic blockage in the crown energy centre.

Although perhaps a bit rude you were just right to prevent the communication from progressing any further i.e. you behaved as a responsible driver.

At the same time if you have never experienced anything like this before – then this may be indicative of a 'wake up call' i.e. an event designed (in agreement with your greater self), to make you sit up and think about the possibility of consciousness out side of ones own proverbial box or model of reality.

Clearly if you wanted to take this further then I would advise that you seek a suitably experienced and responsible teacher. A lot of people experiment with spirit communication these days and fall foul of exploitative teachers, their own imaginations/fears and sometimes negative entity issues. In your case I do not think this is the case.

In terms of wishing to re-establish contact with the person you attempted to communicate with you – simply having the thought and wish to send apologies following your initial contact would have already been perceived by that individual. Although difficult to ascertain for oneself as to who it may have been, guided practice or an assessment reading/sitting by an experienced clairvoyant would you to find out who it may have been.

Although usually the 1st contact of this type appears (from my experience) to indicate the presence of someone you would have known or a helper. This would be an individual who has been tasked to assist you in your personal spiritual development. They are not necessarily a lifelong guide, and may only be available for you for a limited period of time. If on the other hand it had been a deeper inner communication from your higher or greater self. Some people ascribe the characteristics like 'guardian angle' and so on to this, you really would have known about it for sure! Additionally they may be a person linked to someone you know - perhasp a loved one or friend.

In the mean time the best approach is to work in yourself – aim to encourage the positive aspects of your makeup, root out all things you feel are redundant negativity within, and seek to connect with your own divine nature. Personal study, thoughtful introspection, meditation and a positive and loving attitude to life would be as good a place to start as any.
