don't show it to other people.  make it yours and yours alone, it will enhance it's power.  make it special in your mind, it will strengthen your connection to it, making it easier for you to receive wisdom from it.

i've heard that nazi's live in bases on the dark side.

it's also covered with glass structures apparently.

it is also apparently completely artificial.  i don't doubt that the moon is artificial in the sense that it doesn't belong to earth in that it was formed with earth from the same material.  it came from somewhere else and we somehow caught it (which is weird too because the moon is huge compared to us and i wouldn't think earth's gravity could hold onto it, but who knows....).  but who knows, maybe it was actually made by someone and brought here, it's definitely an odd object with anomalous characteristics and strange legends about it among some earthlings.

i would come back to my body like that to discover my fists or back muscles or other muscle group clenched tight occasionally.  i know the feeling well.  that's when i started taking the herbal supplements.  however, i also found that those are signs of mental anxiety/tension and some extra time should be spent in relaxation before practice.

i always thought of astral matter as thought forms.  i use "astral matter" in ritual practice by infusing astral matter from myself into an object that i'm working with (like a crystal or talisman or something).

i don't remember who teaches this (it's one of the older occult authors, the book i read it in was a co-authored book, i don't remember either author, if i do i'll update this post), but i remember learning to look at my hands in front of a dark background in a dimly lit room and seeing astral matter coming out of my finger tips and manipulating it.  eventually, the authors teach you to create a double of yourself with astral matter that you then transfer your awareness (attention) into.

what ever is most comfortable for you

listen to this man.  that statement seems simple but the profundity should not be lost in its simplicity.  that will go a long way in helping you with your projection research if you remember that while you're studying, whatever is most comfortable for you.

I would suggest coming at it from a different angle.  Try researching phasing or shamanic journeying or active imagination.  These are all essentially the same thing but they are taught from different paradigms.  Phasing is a modern AP technique that is taught in the "new age" movement (and i use the word new age VERY loosely), Shamanic Journeying is a technique that obviously is used by shamans and witches, it is the pagan tradition's route of soul travel.  You might not see it called shamanic journeying, they may call it AP or something else, but you will find these techniques in practical witchcraft, shamanic or other pagan texts (like books on practical magick and such).  Active Imagination is a technique/term coined by Carl Jung.  So if you are more "scientifically inclined", then you might prefer this technique.  I believe Xanth may have stickied some links to some Active Imagination links that I found a while back somewhere around here.  Anyway, this is a technique that Jung used to bring the "unconscious" levels of the self to the surface and interact with them for the purpose of psychological healing.  but the method is still essentially phasing/shamanic journeying.

all of these techniques are based more on imagination and being able to "put yourself into another place" and keep your attention focused there for a period of time, which should induce "separation" (though you won't experience traditional separation necessarily.)

hope that helps.

everyone has a symbol that represents their personal myth/journey through this life.  sometimes the symbol changes and evolves over time.  a common way of finding this symbol is through a shamanic journey into the underworld through a tree or cave and upon entering into the tree or cave you look above the entrance to find your symbol etched into the rock or tree.

but you can find your symbol anywhere and through any means (like playing around in math class).  if you feel that this symbol is powerful for you then draw it on a small piece of paper and carry it with you.  meditate on it.  it's meaning will reveal itself over time.

i found that taking some valerian root or passion flower extract 30 min before attempted projection or before bed, seems to help some physical tension issues like clenching teeth or muscles.

There are a lot of good books.

I'm partial to "Astral Projection" by John Magnus and "Astral Dynamics" by Robert Bruce, though both of them can lead you to misunderstanding.  I think one of the most important things is to really get a grasp of what you're trying to do in your own paradigm of thought.

I think Kurt deserves a little more credit.  I understand where he's coming from to an extent.

As for reincarnation, I echo CFT in that your position isn't unconventional around here.

I don't really have an opinion on it anymore.

i've reached full projection using a technique similar to that.  if you just see yourself above yourself like you're watching it on a tv then you may not have much success.  you need to actually feel yourself floating above yourself.  if you can hold that feeling for a while it can lead to separation.

Welcome to Magic! / Re: Light and Non Light

all people are light and non-light.

there seems to be a bit of pretentiousness in the question.  people don't even realize it anymore, the new age stuff has infiltrated our minds and turned into garbage as well.  no better than christianity.  no difference.  there are still the chosen and the damned.

I'm a little confused at to what it is that you're claiming your friend does.

You say that he is able to bring you into his mind?  How does he do this?  What is the process?

Do you guys like sit down and meditate together?  Does he speak and guide you while you are meditating?

To me, it sounds like he is leading you in guided meditation in imagery that he creates.  Now, I'm not denying the possibility of minds interacting in telepathic ways.  But I don't think that he's "taking you into his mind", I think he's creating an image that you are following.  He may be able to then sense your energy in his mind, which is why he describes you.  I guess my point is that I believe that you are just being led in a guided mediation, as opposed to entering this fellow's 'mindscape'.

But who knows, I could be completely wrong.

Anyway, him describing you as a double is the description of your energy body.  You aren't making your double, the double is always there, it is the other.  Perhaps you're developing and becoming more aware of your energy body, thereby putting your awareness in your energy body more than your physical body, which is what astral projection is(or whatever word you want to use for soul/spirit/mental travel).

That's the common explanation.  Others can give you more specific explanations, different twists based on their personal understanding of certain experiences.  Beyond that, read through this forum, there are all kinds of related posts that will enlighten you on certain topics of your interest.

Welcome to Astral Chat! / Re: Members Pictures
October 25, 2011, 10:28:55
time for some updated Rusty pics.

This was me as cupid and my old coworker as aphrodite:

This was me as "Hip DJ Zeus":
(for those that don't know, Zeus often transformed himself into other people and animals so that he could hit-it-n-quit-it with the human ladies.  So, for a modern spin on the Greek God of gods, I was DJ Zeus who gets his groove on by getting the groove on.)

And finally, just a normal picture, the most recent:

and there you have it, new Rusty pics.

I'll give it a try but to be honest, I don't like dreams that much anyways.

Then why did you even express interest in the first place?

It's an interesting experience.  It's probably worth trying just because.

What if you used to smoke lol. I quit around two years ago.

i made my disclaimer, i felt ethically obligated to so.

that said, if anyone wants to try it, by all means give it a shot.  just remember that i warned you.  it won't kill you, but it may make you feel really ill.  i got the most intense effect from the "Step 1" or 21mg patch.  however, there are steps 2 & 3 which are a lower mg (i don't know what the mg is off the top of my head for 2 & 3).  but you could try just putting it on at night before bed and taking it off as soon as you wake up.  that said, those things are really expensive to buy just to see if they make you have whacky dreams (1 week of step one, so 7 patches, cost like $40 US).

it's safe, it won't kill you, you just might get really sick and feel like crap for a while.  so....try it if you want but there is a risk of being sick from it.  who knows maybe you'll be fine though.

I was about to try it, until you said I can't smoke if I'm wearing the patches....  :-(

so i smoke a lot (pack and a half a day) and the highest over the counter patches are 21mgs.

my doc told me that because of how much i smoked i could probably (and should probably) still have a couple cigs throughout the day for a little while because i really should have started at prescription level patches (28mgs.)

so point being, if you smoke a lot, you probably wouldn't have a problem.

however, you could just buy them, put the patch on at night before bed, take it off in the morning and still get the same effect.

Let's just say it didn't work out quite as planned for them.

indeed.

here's the problem.

the goal isn't "sleep paralysis" or the so-called "mind awake/body asleep".

the goal is disassociation.  you want to "disassociate" your conscious awareness from your body.  unplug is an apt description.  unplug from external sensory information.  you want to focus instead on internal sensory information, internal here means anything you believe to be "the astral" (if that's a literal "other world" or just your imagination, doesn't matter).

when you make sleep paralysis your goal, you are still focusing on your body.  even when in sleep paralysis, you are usually still aware of your body.  so it's not about "not feeling your body", it's deeper than that.  it's about not knowing (or caring for all intents and purposes) that your body is there.

but by all means, for those of you who know how to make use of sleep paralysis, go for it.  but it's not something you can "achieve".  rem atonia (actual sleep paralysis) and the feeling of not feeling your body that is induced as you go to sleep are not the same thing.
