Hm? What do you call someone who believes in the Sun? Shall we give every bit of knowledge a name?

I never found out. Even standard human technology can do it - just bore out a sensitive area of ground and set off some explosives. (long story short) But the bigger organizations have methods I'm not familiar with
#178
important to note that some earthquakes - and even volcanoes - are artificially induced. Of course I can't say how many of these incidents - if any - were induced, but it's regular practice for some organizations to massacre groups of people they don't like by setting off a natural disaster

Quote from: mon9999 on April 13, 2010, 10:17:33Is the old tale about suicide victims having to come back with the same learning lessons true? No ... and I don't know who made that up. It must go with the theory that we all have contracts to come into the lives we wind up
Not everyone, no. Some people have contracts, some were fooled into incarnating, some are outright slaves, and some (albeit a small number) incarnated out of their own free will. I've studied this a while and realized there are no universal rules of incarnation.

Funny side note: There are tribes in the Mid-East and Africa that have closed incarnation cycles. In other words they die and come right back into the tribe, keeping outsiders away - so on occasion a person becomes their own grand-child

I keep my mouth shut, I dont want friends to think I'm weirder than they already do
Time for some new friends!

Talking about it is complicated, because communication is a culturally bound thing, and if your culture is caught up in nutty ideas about spirits not existing, words tend to fail. In fact there are people like me who are very familiar with astral projection but have only projected a few times, so when we hear people talk about it, we can't feel what they're describing, but I'm more scientific than some people (who claim to be scientific only as a means to justify nonsense) so I listen to every bit of it.  You might consider things like whether or not your friends have the capacity to grasp new things.

Haven't talked to anyone directly, but I talked to someone whose mom had killed herself previously. A bunch of spirits were ticked and forced her to reincarnate. This is consistent with all the other stories I've read.

It's like Tiny describes. The problem isn't suicide itself, but the organized predators who might come after you for disobeying their system

I've finally started learning about quantum theories, and I've found a lot of quirks in it that I don't like. Personally, I don't think you can visit an alternative world.

From what I understand, quantum physics says an object does not objectively exist in space - it doesn't have an absolute size or position like we use in mathematics. The object only exists relative to other objects, all of which interact relative to each other. So in effect there are infinite iterations of each object interacting in infinite ways with other objects, so each of us is only interacting with a world created by our own presence.

My problem with this is how quantum physics assumes that space is an objective thing, even while saying all things are subjective. It still demands that the universe be interpreted using some form of geometry even though it says geometry is irrelevant on a sub-atomic level. My thinking is that space is not objective and therefore not random.

It was discovered that a particle (and even an atom) can behave like an object or a wave at any moment. They can appear and disappear, teleport, or appear in two places at once. This is mostly where quantum theory comes from - as a way to explain these oddities. They say you're only seeing atoms play out potential.

I say, the atoms are acting erratic because our concept of space fails on an atomic level. We interpret the universe as space. It doesn't HAVE to be that way. When an atom appears in two places at once, it isn't because you're seeing two potentials - it's because your concept of space fails on an atomic level, the same way a computer's concept of geometry fails when you zoom in too closely to a mathematical object. There are entities who can create an atomically perfect object because they have a complex understanding of reality that can transcend space.

So while I think it's possible to create alternate situations, I don't think we're falling through random patterns and able to make quantum jumps

In other words you want to enjoy seeing bad things happen
#185
Maybe something happened underground that we're not aware of. Always possible. Meh
#186
If you don't get along with the world then maybe there's a reason it doesn't like you
#187
can you do Stookie next? I want to see what happens
#188
Soul Reaver had a frighteningly realistic portrayal of all those concepts. Everyone here ought to play it

Hmm, quake in Baja. http://www.hawaii247.org/2010/04/04/baja-quake-no-tsunami-threat-to-hawaii/ That's about it. No Earth-shattering kaboom just yet

At this point I'm just enjoying seeing Xanth troll all over Kurt.
(whose karma, incidentally, is going down once every 100 hours)
#191
He did. You're just so busy trolling that you didn't notice
#192
heh, I'm just telling what I see. If it's wrong you can blame whoever put it there

I'm not sure where you thought I was going.  O_o
It's not where I thought you were going but where I hoped you were going

...and you wonder why you have negative karma?   :?
Actually it's pretty obvious. My karma would be fine if you were living in Zetan test chamber, which again reinforces my earlier point

In any case, Jeck wants to project, not learn whatever junk comes with doing things the hard way

I got an image of some kind of disaster (or just a bad thing) happening Easter Sunday. (I didn't know this Sunday is Easter when I saw it) I'm not sure if this is related to that Galactic Federation thing mentioned in the other thread. I'll just post this for posterity

looks like Xanth is still here

Quotedo you really believe technology is a viable shortcut to replace discipline and the right attitude?
It actually is. That's why we're not chiseling these messages into cave walls. It may not be a replacement for chiseling but it suits us better

I can do some of these things because I'm a researcher - I figure out the physics behind them. Some people can do it intuitively, some learn, and - yeah - some people do it through discipline. Kurt uses engineering. I agree that shouldn't be seen as the only way. We all have our own styles

I've done some more experiments, and this is really profound.
It isn't the heart rate, but the increased oxygen. And I've learned that this works even better while you're walking, because you can get more oxygen. You can have a trance effect while walking.

It works best when I'm walking inside my house. Start off thinking of anything pleasant, and try to think of it in more detail - colors, feelings, smells, etc. As it gets harder to imagine these things consistently, you'll notice your heart rate picking up. Start breathing a bit faster until your mind can handle more imaginary stimuli, and it will start producing images all on its own. Everything will become more clear and real to the point that it's like a trip. Your mind is using the extra oxygen to 'overclock' itself in a sense. Lots of fun can be had in this stage. When you start to feel too detached or tingly, stop breathing and let your mind come down. This should produce a trance effect for a few seconds - a lot of sounds and images will go through your mind that you didn't intentionally produce. This trance is how I've always used telepathy - you might make note of what you see and hear, as something important might slip in.

I first came up with this as a way of solving tough problems or escaping. It turns out our minds are normally in a stupor during the day - unable to think beyond a certain point, producing grey images with little detail. You start having arguments in your head or stressing over stupid things or having a pointless inner dialog. I think the mind can (and should) be pushed to new limits like a muscle using methods like this, if you're to escape the daily stupor.
