Welcome to Astral Consciousness! / Re: Astral Learning

I recommend that you read Monroe's books -- he often talks about what he has nicknamed "ROTEs" or "thought balls" ; it's possible to give a copy of your memory or part of your memory to another entity, and that entity can "play it back" instantly like a video tape.

At early stages of development, you would do better to seek wisdom from other entities in a dialogue-like setting rather than aiming for "ultimate god consciousness."

Also, remember we are here on earth to experience. Ultimate knowledge of everything does sound tempting, but just think about it -- once you have it, will you care at all to use it? You'd probably end up regretting it. Heck, maybe you've already done it and chose to forget it all :P

And you thought nuclear weapons were bad! "Comply or I'll press the red button and turn off the universe!"

To follow up on this, I've been experiencing things of an energetic nature that helped me better understand how to concentrate on an astral locale.

Basically, you have to try and feel the astral body and make it expand, feel wires coming out of it and focus your attention on objects ; something happens automatically when you focus on something, it's as if wires came out of you and grab whatever you're looking at. As you spread this "area of influence" into objects around you, you become more strongly anchored into the dreamscape and your lucidity increases dramatically.

I am still experimenting with this, but it seems to be extremely effective -- not only for astral reading, but for pretty much anything that involves deepening an altered state and remaining away from the body.

Adrian,

Have you thought about starting a kind of "directory" of psychics that are not charlatans?

The idea would be to act as a type of unofficial certification service, an independent third party that issues digital certificates to people who offer psychic services after testing them.

The website could become a reference, and everyone wins -- the real psychics get increased exposure, their customers can be assured that they are not being robbed, and as a certification service, you can make money from memberships.

Of course, determining who is a real psychic and who is not can be a real challenge, as often, you can't just ask the person "guess what color socks I'm wearing" or "tell me what numbers I just wrote down on this piece of paper" ; but nevertheless, I am sure there are ways to ascertain at least part of what the psychics claim to be capable of.

With all the things that are happening to me as a result of trance meditation and OBEs, whether it be glimpses of clairvoyant vision, precognition, etc... I feel that I may at some point reach a level where I would be able to make a living off of my psychic abilities, but the charlatans are ruining it for those of us who are serious about this...

It's no use debating this anyway. The only way to know for sure is psychic means -- don't waste your time on either the official or unofficial versions, just get your own version :)

Your ability to learn while out of body is pretty much the same as your ability while in the physical world -- you are told or shown something, and you memorize it ; you can choose to exercise it to become better at it, as well...

The amount you can learn depends on how much "subjective time" you can stay out, and how good you are at not discarding the memories of your experiences.

The difference, though, is that telepathic communication (from your teacher to you) can be high volume, and instantaneous. Of course, you need to be able to process large amounts of data at once, which typically requires a substantial amount of frequent flyer miles, if you know what I mean.

What do you mean by "everything feels upside down?"

Could you describe the problem better?

I just realized something while reading today... It's pretty much impossible to read something unless it is directly in the center of your field of vision. You can see the whole screen right now, yet you have to place your eyes over each word to read anything.

That, in itself, is not a groundbreaking discovery, but has anyone noticed how similar trying to read something that is not directly in the center of your field of vision is to reading in the astral -- or even "looking" at hypnogogics and mind's eye pictures?

Question to good astral readers -- how good is your peripheral vision?

Would developing our peripheral vision be the key to developing our clairvoyant ability?

Actually, no, they're not the same.

Ikea is the devil! Tree killers!

Or perhaps the furniture just doesn't like the silly names? :P

But seriously, was there a table in that kitchen you bought? Maybe it was used as a ouija board?

Hey... I'm seeing these white thingies you speak of too!

The first and second times it happened were last week in class. I looked at the professor while he was speaking, and got, well, a bit bored :)

When I lost focus, I started seeing white shapes forming. The first one was a white vertical bar sweeping from right to left, the second one was a swirling streak of white... The second one looked like it came out of the professor's hand :o

The third time it happened was in my room, I looked at the wall during an OBE attempt and another one of these shapes started moving. It looked like the outlines of a person moving from right to left, a bit as if there was someone invisible in front of me -- imagine the aura of the invisible man -- so I got a bit scared and just tried to go to sleep. It's a damn shame because the projection reflex kept tugging at me (made a lot of progress this week, I feel that I can project at will now, provided that I'm tired enough -- had 3 partial/crappy projections in 4 days).

There's something disturbing about those shapes... It's hard to tell where they are, maybe because they're so unusual -- it's like they don't register in our sense of 3D...

I'm thinking this is either spontaneous activation of astral vision... or ophtalmologists using voodoo magic to get more clients :p

BTW what is Wellbutrin SR. Is this some kind of medication which causes SP? I think i read somewhere that Vicadin has the same effect. I wouldnt know though, and i would much rather the induction to be natural  :-D

I don't remember what it is, but I remember the face of the guy who says that it has a low risk of sexual side effects in the commercial :p

I think it's an anti-depressant...

Many things can trigger movement sensations -- sometimes they are actually energy movements, but it's not easy to tell. Usually, they occur at a stage where you are somewhat sleepy, but still too awake to project.

You shouldn't expect to be able to just jump out of body while you're still awake -- it can happen, but it's very rare, and often accidental.

The biggest challenge is not really to become aware of a subtle body and jump out, it's reaching the proper state. What you want to do is fall asleep while remaining aware. It takes quite a bit of practice, but if you learn to master it, you'll most likely find yourself out of body without any visible effort.

http://www.geocities.com/octanolboy/do_obe.pdf -- this document explains the different stages you will experience pretty well
http://www.robertpeterson.org/chap07.html -- scroll down to the exercise there, the arm trick is particularly helpful to practice not falling asleep completely and staying in the trance state (and if you haven't read Robert Peterson's book, it's definitely worth a read!)

When you fall asleep, the consciousness leaves the body, no matter what. Instead of being mainly concentrated in the physical, it spreads out to other areas, or dimensions -- to the subtle bodies.

During sleep, we do a lot of work that we are not conscious of unless we have a strong intention to witness it, and even then, we might not be able to comprehend it, as we work on much higher levels than our physical perceptions can understand.

Sometimes, we help people we know by "visiting them," and sometimes we help ourselves. Sometimes, the things we do can't be explained in words.

When we re-enter the body, which happens periodically, several times a night, we snap back into physical consciousness and the "memory download" Robert Bruce mentions in Astral Dynamics occurs. What happens then is that all the experiences that occured beyond the body are interpreted in terms that the physical body can understand. Due to the extremely abstract, non-physical nature of what we do at night, the result is that we will remember a dream that often makes no particular sense. (i.e. We went to the top of a mountain to find sandals so that we could bake a banana cake)

Having an out of body experience is all a matter of control. By willing yourself to the etheric, by traveling around with "real time" awareness, you are directly taking things in that are physical in nature, and that will therefore translate into things that make perfect sense to you. If you let go of this control, your subconscious will be doing the interpretations for you, and hence, things will become illogical.

We are constantly dreaming, even during the day. There is always a part of our consciousness that is beyond the physical, and that sends down memories to it, although it is much less active when you are awake.

The dream scape is very much "an illusion of the brain" -- but the source of these illusions is not (only) your brain.

So to answer your question -- a dream is a misinterpretation of an experience that occured beyond physical understanding. As soon as you can qualify a nightly experience as being an out of body experience, etheric, astral, mental, etc, projection, it is still a dream, but you were able to make sense of it, because you were there with your physical senses, and therefore nothing was lost in translation.

Reality fluctuations are the result of a loss of focus, or rather, a loss of control. This is why all beginners should not spend too much time outside of body, not only because they might lose the memories, but also because they might lose control and go into their regular nightly work experience, and therefore a dream will result, or with luck, a hybrid of a projection with a dream at the end will occur.

Hmm... that really felt like a cold reading... Intuition just isn't my thing :p
#295
It happened to me recently, I saw a weird, red spider crawling on my door, and it disappeared as it ran. Vanished, even though my eyes were wide open and I was awake.

It's just a random bout of clairvoyance, or so I was told on the astral dynamics forums, a side effect of astral projection and meditation. As we develop further, we'll be able to see these things all the time, supposedly!

I'm also having trouble reading and remembering things... I get lots of messages in my sleep, but I'm rarely lucid enough to make sense of them... I think the best way to improve is to work on developing clairvoyance -- that includes the ability to concentrate on an image and record things while in an altered state.

How much experience do we need, and what do volunteers have to do?
#297
I think you're better off saving money for leg surgery :p

I've experienced similar results when doing one of Robert Bruce's NEW exercises, it induced strong vibrations all over, but no projection.

I've got this... "Energy conduit" (there's really no better word for it) that goes from the top of my head to my right shoulderblade. All I need to do is imagine a ball rotating around my head, a little higher than the ears, and in time this energy conduit gets "charged up."

If the conditions are right, and I remain in a drowsy state, this generates a surge of energy movement sensations through the spine, which then spreads over to the whole body, causes nervous jerks and the like.

I don't know if this is the same, but the "brain region" that causes this to happen is the right half of where the crown chakra should be (my right).

I've identified several such "conduits" but this is really the one that produces the most sensations. I haven't tried to project using it, but I guess it can't hurt to try!
