Quote from: WindGodone of the posts mentions "split mind"

If you talked to a doctor about this, would they say that it sounds like the symptoms of Schizophrenia and or dissociative identity disorder?

would you mean like a duplication/clone of a simultaneous consciousness, that differs by state of focus? Or is it like 2 personalities, Jekyll/Hyde?

Schizophrenia is a disorder where you alternate between two or more "personalities," but when your consciousness is split in two, you are aware of both parts at the same time, do have conscious control over them, and sometimes you are capable of communicating between the two, which is very different.

I think "clones" would be a more fitting description, but I don't know if they are really created on the spot. In my opinion they are always there, it's just a matter of becoming aware of them. Each "body" or "vehicle of consciousness" has its own limitations, but you will usually know that it is you.

Welcome to Astral Chat! / Soccer World Cup

I hate French soccer fans, and I hate soccer, but I hope France wins, cause, well, it's my home country :p

It's funny cause when they were playing in the groups, people started saying they were rooting for other teams, but as soon as they beat brazil, holy crap! Let's worship our national sport!

At least it gave way for some much needed patriotism in these dark times :)

I had a sleep paralysis episode shortly following a lucid dream today.

Towards the end of the dream, I closed my eyes, and when I opened them, I was on my bed again. For some reason, I wanted only one thing: to wake up. I did not try projecting, which I regret, because I probably would have had no problem doing it!

In any case, I was stuck and tried moving. That's when I heard my dad behind me, telling me to get out of bed (we don't live together though, he's several hundred miles away!). I tried to get up but I was paralyzed completely. I tried to talk, but I couldn't. I let out a very weak grunt, and my dad tried to lift me, that's when I thought "That tickles!" As soon as I said that, he started tickling me. It just felt so real, I was laughing so much I couldn't breathe anymore. That's when I said "stop!" And it stopped instantly. I tried to move again, and all I could do was open and close my eyes. Then I said "I can move! I can move!" and instantly I was able to move around, regained feeling in my entire body in an instant, and got up.

I have a hard time believing that it was just coincidence... After all, if it was chemical in any way, how could the sentence "I can move" have a direct effect that completely canceled the paralysis in a split second?

Then again, it's not easy to tell what is cause and what is effect when you're suffering from "dream lag" :p

There's the akashic pulse theory by Robert Bruce. I think he claims that every X hours, there is a "recall" of all spirits to the source for balancing purposes, and that would be the origin of so-called astral winds.

If that's accurate, it could be the closest thing to sleep, in the sense that it has a purpose, is periodical, and involves an unconscious, necessary repair process.

There's also the buddhic plane (or is it the atmic plane? I forget), where spirits can stay in a state of eternal bliss. That could be considered sleeping, although it is closer to meditation than anything.

Quote from: mjolnir_knightI just now read your post.  Um, holy crap?  *Drops jaw*.  (Are you a physicist?)  However, I do get what you are saying.  On that matter, I had a theory, however.  Since it is (more or less) common belief that all matter is energy as you stated, would it be possible to somehow exert mental force on an object in the astral plane and lower it's vibrational level to that of the physical, hence creating a physical form of said object?

Look up "apports" -- here's an example: http://www.survivalafterdeath.org/photographs/harrison/4.htm

Ectoplasm is supposedly the first stage of transformation of etheric matter into physical matter. I haven't seen reports of it happening without channeling spirits, and it supposedly takes even more energy from both the medium and the spirit to apport small objects than it takes to create ectoplasm.

Isn't it just that it only happened once and you were unable to reproduce it immediately? That's often the case for many things...

You tell us..
#309
Yes, I think it's a very important aspect of it actually -- what is created by us, and what comes from an outside source?

The problem is, we can never really tell, but I suspect there are techniques we can use to better target the information we are looking for. Essentially, the whole problem may come from the way we target the information ; for example taking things that are there and impregnating them with our ideas, perceptions, etc...

I know Robert Bruce had this "core image removal" technique to get rid of unwanted fluctuations... It looks good on paper, to say the least.

Dear fellow travelers,

This is a big post, and I'm sorry :)

When I started training for wake-induced OBEs, I would reach the hypnogogic state consciously for about a split second and snap back to the physical before I could do anything. I have since improved tremendously, and while I have yet to confirm it, I think I'm capable of rather limited clairvoyant remote viewing. The longest I was able to stay focused on my "target" was about 20 seconds.

I have had a lot of trances where I was given information in the form of websites or simply series of numbers on a white background, and I have the hardest time reading them. I always know what they say, but as soon as I try to read and memorize, the words change into sentences that don't make sense. Numbers simply change to other values, which completely destroys the purpose!

I've compiled my impressions from conversations I've had on the subject...

The first obstacle for most people is the reflex to move your eyes (this is not a problem in OBEs, though). If you try and read, your (physical) eyes will most likely start going left and right, making you lose focus.

Then, the next obstacle is that everything will seem blurry, but not blurry in the sense that it's out of focus, blurry in the sense that you'll see text, but won't be able to actually read it. A bit like if you had never learned how to read -- the letters won't make sense to you. To fix this, we have this tendency to try and look closer, to look at the top left of each character to make out a letter, to recognize the "font."

As soon as you grasp how the letters look, and what to expect in the text, you'll be able to read full words.

Problem: When I reach this stage, the words shapeshift. You read a word, then the next one, then the next one, and you realize it says "Become red hello." That doesn't make sense. You read it again. "Never close orange."

I've talked to several people about this, and there are usually those who can read without a problem, and those who can't read anything.

Interesting to note: most of those who can read without problems in the astral have terrible spelling.

We also had a conversation about left-brained and right-brained people. Strongly left-brained people are analytical. When they read something, they analyze each character to compile a word, they remember spellings, etc... Strongly right-brained people are intuitive. When they read, they have a tendency to match patterns rather than decode.

Women are known to be more right-brained than men, although it isn't systematic, and people who are strongly right-brained are very rare, whether it's male or female.

From what I observed, right-brained people have a much better time not only communicating in the astral, they can also read better. So for some people, it's not even an issue at all, while others have years of experience in the astral and can't read for peanuts!

Now, in fact, I wrote a lot about the reasons for this difficulty, but it's not really what I'm after with this thread.

What I wanted to know was:

1. How well can you read in the astral?
2. Was it always the case?
3. Why do you think it's difficult for some to read in the astral? What did you observe when you were reading?
4. Do you have any tips to help others read better?

Now, you don't have to answer this like it's a bunch of test questions, they're just here to provide an idea of what I'm getting at. The subject is not covered in many books, and I'm really curious about it -- how can I improve my astral reading?

You just reminded me that I needed to make a new topic about reading in the astral. I'll post the link here because I don't want to sidetrack the conversation too much.

According to Aunt_Clair (Whom you may know from other message boards), RB is still very much holding onto the mind split theory, but even goes a little further. According to them, we have more than 10 different points of consciousness (12 or 14?), or bodies, which we can be aware of at the same time.

At first you will be able to "bilocate" -- meaning to be aware of being in two places at the same time (although not physically). The ultimate phase of development is supposedly when you are aware of all (12 or 14) bodies at the same time, at all times.

And that, my friends, is pretty hardcore :P

Saying that dreams and OBEs are different would be a mistake...

The problem is that a dream can be any type of projection with a low level of awareness, lucidity, and memory. Science makes this confusing, because dreams are supposedly "all in the brain," and OBEs do not exist!

In truth, dreams (and lucid dreams) have all the characteristics of a projection to a realm of the astral plane (most often, to "personal," closed realms).

Sleep paralysis seems to be nothing more than a change of focus from the physical to the etheric. The only reason there is paralysis is because we are often still under the illusion that we are our physical body, and therefore we try to flex muscles that aren't there by sending pulses to nerves that aren't there either.

I've read that there was a medical reason for paralysis during sleep, and that it is caused by a certain chemical produced by the body...

I can't say for sure if that is true, or if there's different kinds of sleep paralysis... Whenever I was paralyzed, all I had to do was concentrate harder and I was able to move instantly. Perhaps we produce some kind of "counter-chemical" when we wake up?

In my opinion, sleep paralysis is a mandatory step, it's not just easier to project, you HAVE to switch focus to the etheric before you can create the projectable double...

To practice with binaurals, I recommend that you try to fall asleep as you are listening. Don't attempt projection or anything, just let yourself fall asleep.

As you become used to doing this, you will have a much easier time reaching the proper state -- heck, it could happen "unintentionally" the first time you do it, but remember not to expect anything to happen, as that will prevent you from drifting into an altered state.

I've thought about replying to this thread, but I was not sure how to put my ideas into words... I'll try, though.

The problem is emotion is the product of the ego -- the ego cannot express "the universe," but one's consciousness can perceive it.

Emotion is not communication, it is a coded reaction that happens within one person. This brings us back to the problem of objectivity vs subjectivity.

When you send an emotion to someone, you are sending something that is coded, almost encrypted, which revolves around you, your perceptions, and your views.

The "real" communication happens on an energetic level -- it is the process of sending information in the form of energy, so that instead of just understanding "everything" and perceiving "everything" (everything = the whole universe, physical and non-physical), you are modifying a small part of the whole without requiring an expansion in consciousness (i.e. sending information to the ego of an entity).

An emotion does not really express anything... Perhaps it's a matter of semantics, but essentially, telepathic communication ("Angelic language") makes copies of one's internal state and encodes it as energy, to be deciphered by another.

This, of course, allows communication without having to encode and decode words, it is much more practical than spoken language, but how would you be able to put the universe in an emotion? Isn't it just a way to refer to it that doesn't really explain anything about it?

Kind of like the "idents" Monroe talked about -- the word refers to something, a bit like a shortcut on a computer with many "properties" but which does not store the actual target.

And so, well, I guess what I don't agree with is the word "explain" -- you cannot explain the whole universe, but you can refer to it and give one the tools to observe it. Also, emotion is not the lowest layer of communication, it is actually very specialized, complex energy which evolved from more "primary" forms of energy.

*few days pass*

Well, at least you've all got a clean room now :p
#317
Or have they always been happening but you only noticed them recently? :-D
#318
I still haven't validated the reality of my experiences, and I can't say I've achieved anything special so far, but like Stookie, I feel so much happier for some reason...

I used to think about nothing but making money, about how fast time passes by and how short life is... All those worries are gone now.

The glass isn't half full or half empty, there's just that much in it, deal with it!
#319
Well... This is extremely bizarre, yet it somehow works...

I found a common factor in my projections: every time I clean my room, I have a projection that night.

Yesterday, I cleaned my room entirely, took out all the clothes lying around on the floor, put all my books on shelves and vacuumed.

I set my alarm program to ring every thirty minutes, 10 times. Well, I had 10 "mini-projections" ; they weren't full-fledged projections, but every time the alarm rang, I was in the etheric, vibrating, hearing loud sounds, seeing bright lights everywhere, with some flashes of astral vision...

Now I'm wondering if this is something anyone else has experienced...

I don't think the point here is that cleaning your room will make you project, but it's quite possible that something energetic is happening -- after all, leaving all kinds of crap lying around on the floor isn't very feng shui! :)

I wouldn't say I'm obsessed with cleaning to the point that I can't sleep right if my room is a mess -- but does the mess create blockages, does it confuse your astral vision? Or is it the action of cleaning that "chases away evil spirits" (read: negative energies) and allows for better projection?

In any case... I always hated sleeping, I thought it was a waste of time, until I started practicing projection, that is... Now I love sleeping! Cleaning's never been my favorite activity either, yet now I'm pretty convinced that if I clean my room regularly I'll have more projections!

See a pattern here? :P

A great lesson for you! That's stage one of losing the fear of the unknown -- beating up some kind of monster :)

Stage two is to become friends with the "monster" -- good luck :-D

I got a bunch of lottery numbers this morning, but I didn't get them all... 11 23 59 ... ... ... and bonus number 15. I don't know any lotteries that go up to 59 so I'm kind of clueless, but someone try them out and let me know what happens :P
#321
For the first one, I'm not too sure, I can't relate...

For the second one, it's just your eyes adapting to darkness, most likely. I know it happens to me and it's caused mainly by lack of light, your eyes adapting, and retinal fatigue causing still images to change colors.

But don't worry too much about "opening the third eye" ; I would recommend, although mine hasn't "opened" yet, that you just do energy work and wait for it to happen, rather than force it.

Learn to notice things that are beyond the scope of physical perception, it can be helpful if you want to control your mind's eye, to look at those images that are constantly being imprinted in the back of your head. As you work with energy, you will feel that these images come stronger over time.

First you need to master perception, then you can work on controlling this perception -- the mistake a lot of people make is to shift a lot of energy to the third eye region and expect to see auras and ghosts overlayed on their physical vision. This will not yield results as fast (if at all) as if you just concentrate on seeing what's already there.

This applies to a lot of things ; astral sight, astral projection, energy work -- they all seem like unknown territory, but when you learn to see what's already there (mind's eye perceptions, dreams, energy sensations you have always felt your whole life), you can better understand how to direct your efforts, and how to achieve your goals.

Welcome to Out of Body Experiences! / Lottery!
June 23, 2006, 03:52:47
I had a dream the other day where I was in total darkness, and children's voices all around me were chanting numbers. It seemed like they were numbers said at random, but I saw them appear in sequence on a grey background that was in front of me... I remember only 3 of them, which I wrote down on my dream notebook.

I went to check against the lottery numbers a few days later, and the 3 numbers were right! I could have won 10 bucks if I had played that day :p

I don't think using psychic means to win the lottery is a bad thing, or that it's "bad karma," but there's just so much more to all this than material gain.

The potential for abuse with out of body experiences is big enough as it is... It's not wise to turn OBEs into a get rich quick scheme...

The method to find out the numbers is quite simple. Ask and you shall receive. There's nothing the spirit world won't tell you. Anyone with average-ish dream recall can simply ask for the numbers before going to sleep, and chances are they'll have a dream similar to that one I had.

Lights on will bother you if you're trying to phase out of the physical, because even very little light stimulates the eyes through the eyelids. The ultimate wake-induced OBE environment is total sensory deprivation!

And when you're out of body, you won't really need physical light... You can make your own light :p

Quote from: knightlightNot to be one of those wierdo "vibrational density shift" type people but ive been having some strange feelings lately like something either with me or how I percieve reality is changing.  I dont know what it is...  I was sitting in my friends car today and I was feeling very strange like the car was really small or something and I couldnt put my finger on it.  Suddenly I felt like nothing was real and I reached out to touch the car and my friend was like "what the hell are you doing???? you look all creepy."  and I just said "I dont know man, this doesnt seem real."

I keep having this kind of stuff happen to me.

For instance, I just came home and sat on this chair, and then I noticed street lights and people walking behind me... In my room!

It's like I have cases of spontaneous 360 degree vision, with the front 180 degrees occupied by physical sight, and the back is remote viewing or seeing well defined dream-like imagery.

It's annoying because it only happens when I'm not expecting it, and I can't seem to make it happen on purpose!

In retrospect, it seems I've been foolish to assume that the little boy needed to cross over, or even that he was dead...

Because who knows... Even though it seemed so obvious at the time that he was a lost soul, I failed to gather significant evidence...

What if he was just a little wandering astral projector who wanted to play? Did I tell a poor little kid from my neighborhood that he was dead? That would be terrible! Imagine being visited in your sleep and being told that you need to get over yourself and cross over to the other side!

I also assumed that his parents were waiting for him in the afterlife... But what if his parents were still alive?

Also, what if he was just an astral lifeform who can never experience death?!

It seems I've come across yet another astral lesson that showed me the importance of not rushing to conclusions and actions.

I hope I can go back and meet "Èn" again... I really hope I didn't cause damage :O
