It is the quality of the concious mind that is the limiting factor.  It allows us to focus on a task, while the subconcious mind does everything else for you.

Think of all of the things that you no longer have to conciously focus on that your subconcious mind does!

What we call 'light' is a visable spectrum of energy.  We call it that because our body is made in such a way to perceive those rates of vibrational energy.  What we call light is a band of energy.  When light hits an object SOME of the energy is reflected off that object and THAT is what we see.   The rest of the energy is absorbed or passes through the object.

You have heard of infra-red which is used to as a heat lamp and ultraviolet which is used in tanning salons?

There are higher and lower wave lengths of this energy.

The human eye does not register above or below a certain level.

The funny thing is we really 'see' with our brain.  The eyes are the receptors and the brain does the seeing.

By the way.  The Color White reflects all visible light, the Color Black absorbs all visible light.

Black is not the absence of light but the absence of  anything visibly detectable to reflect the light that is there.

We say that the 'Sky is Blue'.      Grass is green.   We are taught to use these phrases instead of being taught to say, I see the green light reflected off  the grass.    I guess that languages are metaphors for thought and experiences in which we have a commonality of experience.

Kurai,

Why do you want those abilities?   Ask your self.    Perhaps what you have now is even better than what you think those abilities can bring.

Why would anyone take Dr laura seriously?

ismusa, do you know what a simile is?

not enough choices in the poll...  lol  perhaps an infinite number of choices would work better
#57
try googling or researching  'knowlege and conversation with the holy guardian angel'

There is no Shortcut for 'work'.  There is only what YOU must do to really SEE.

There is no cheating.  Not really.  There is really the work YOU individually must do to accomplish what your goals are.  Each of you are different so each of you different work to do.

Drugs are a distraction and appease the personal ego.

See my above post.

Drugs are a misdirection of a good intention.

There are no shortcuts.  Plastic surgery does not make you younger it only make you APPEAR younger, for a while.

But that is ok.  Just letting you know.   Decide for yourselves.

Welcome to Spiritual Evolution! / Re: breakup

Loppypoppy,

I am sorry for you in your lost love.  The more you love them more you become vulnerable.

Love is a service and is deeply personal.  No one of us can always understand what you may be going through.

And the same time YOU love.  That is important.  You have a desire to love and to be loved.
Any skill takes practice and patience.

What else do you love?  Did it not take time to learn to use specific skills that you did not already have but learned to develop through some type of discipline?

You desire is an imbedded promise from your inner true self for you to discover.  You have to get through the bitter skin of an orange to get into the sweet fruit inside.

Welcome to Spiritual Evolution! / Re: sins, karma
November 04, 2006, 22:41:42
Karma really means, WORK.

Sin is another word for a speed bump or roadblock to the true unfoldment of an individuals conciousness.

It is a mistaken action based on a mistaked concept.

Most of what is called sin is derived from the part of a persons ego that supposed that they are seperate in some way from what they desire.

I have been away for awhile. Sorry.  Have been busy.

Psychodelic drugs are a way of fooling the mind by way of biochemistry into a 'spiritual' (phenomenalogic)
perception.

It is a shadow of what is possible and only on one level.  It is a trick.

It is a dead end.  You end up right were you were but with an altered and probably misrepresented concept of other forms of conciousness.

Eating a bowl of oatmeal can be more spiritually unfolding with the proper attitude and it is actually good for you.

Telos,   A lot of people do things on faith and they are not religious.

We all take faith in that which we do not have the knowledge nor facility to understand.

How many of you are qualified to understand or work in astro physics.  You must take what you are told, by astrophysicists on faith.  How many are qualified to compose music?  To conduct and orchestra?  To Run a conglonmerate business?  You must take these things on faith also.

Religion serves a purpose just as all tribal rituals have done in the past.   Street signs serve a purpose, so do gps for your car.    You can believe in them or not.  A light switch works to turn off and on a light, whether you believe in it or not.  Unless you understand how a light switch REALLY works you must take it s working on Faith.

that last post was a little 'arrogant'
#65
Telos that does not make sense.

Religions are tribal and cultural.  There are lots of people who are rich in spirit who follow the tenents of a religion.  There are also lots of people who are willing to put down what they do not understand.
#66
Religion is cultural.  There will always be some people who rationalize their actions by using cultural or religious concepts to full fill personal goals as a result of a lack of understanding the world that we live in.

Some persons will only see the reflection of the problems of the world as something that is OUTSIDE of themselves and not realize that the problems are INTERNALLY their problem.  It has always been such.

To thine own self be true (the Inner SELF) .  Know thyself.  Look within.
Sometimes religion is like the body of a car.  It can become corroded  but still runs and serves a purpose.  Or, perhaps like the cover and binding of a book.  The contents are still there to be READ but the outside is ugly and rotted.
#67
Language is a result of the ability to vocalize a reasoned and common experience.  But it is not a realm of emotions only.
#68
Food, air and water are also for 'poor' people.

Does the above posted  comment supposed to be a slam on religion or poor people?

Where is the cutoff point?

Does that also mean the 'rich' people are not religious?

Perhaps it would be good to re-read the question raised by the person who started the thread to get back on topic.

When the time comes that the current world religions have become synonymous with the buggy whip, they to will be no longer used.
#69
LOL   Thanks.

We are each 'saved' in our own individual manner and no other person here can understand what an other persons situation may be.

In our differences we are the same and the answers all come from the same source.  We just get there by sligthly different paths and at different times using different languages.

"The "higher truths" cannot be understood with the "logical thinking mind"."

This is one persons experience and not a univeral one.  It may apply to some people but not to every person.

Not every person has the capacity or ability that another might have.

All religions are tribal and cultural and they do have grains of truth in them.  Some are vague shadows of what they once were.  But they are still tribal, which is OK.

Start where YOU are.  Spiritual and physical are the same but are same just not perceived that way.

Start with what is within you and go from there.

What do you want?

Hello.

To begin with it is important to have a clear goal.  What do you want to do,. what do you want to accomplish.  Or what do you want to overcome.

Concentration is really easy.  We do it all the time.  We just do not notice .

Learn to breathe in a rhythmic manner.
#72
Each person must start, from where they are.  All of us live in a particular culture that has religion/s as part of that culture.

Grace and Patience are key to finding the way from where you are to where you want to be.

LOL  Back seat drivers and hindsight opinions.

The fact is GWB is the President.

Just because he is a christian does not mean that his is a fundamentalist christian administration.

On the other hand, the Kennedy's are alleged Catholics.  Oh, what a fine reputation they have as a 'ruling' family.

And also remember that the president does not 'rule', as such.

A person may not like him or his party, that does not make him a bad person or a bad president.  But I understand that personal preferences for the parties involved will make it difficult to see the reality of the situation.
#74
BTW, GWB is the President and some do not think that he is an embarrassment at all, but a person who lives up to his ideals.

A person who lives up to their ideals is quite refreshing from the previous US administration/s.   LOL

A good 'quote'!
