Besides a journal, you can still do even more. I'm actually quoting myself here (too lazy to re-write it now) from my journal at the Astraldynamics forum, this is the techique I first applied after a very long AP immediately after re-entry (this is important!) and it worked for me (of course, also for non-lucid (dream) adventures). Maybe it is interesting for you and some of you would like to try this out for yourselves too:

POST-IMPRINTING/MEMO TECHNIQUE FOR NON-PHYSICAL EXPERIENCES

After you 'wake up' do the following:

1.) DO NOT MOVE !!!
Not by an inch !!! It is vital you stay exactly in the sleeping position you where in when you 're-entered/woke up'.
2.) CLOSE YOUR EYES AGAIN !!
If you opened them at all, shut them almost immediately again!
3.) Start REWIND-REPLAY PROCESS on the spot!
This is vital to get down all the information, you should do this scene by scene, that means go back to 3. min and play it til 4 min., then go back to 2.min to 3.min to fill the gap... etc.
Alternatively, you can also try to do it all fom the beginning, but I believe that is even more difficult. Or you can do it from last scene (start to finsh), then the scene before that and before that and so on.
No matter which way, be VERY patient and keep your eyes closed and go through the whole experience until you are certain that you 'saved' everything back into waking memory. You can be certain: if it is only once repeated, it will stay. If you are uncertain go through specific 'insecure' parts a second time, after that you can be sure that you have stored it in your short-/middle-term memory and go to step 4.
4.) Only then you should move, get up and go to your dream/projecion JOURNAL and note it all down immediately, maybe some additional memories as details and smaller scenes will come to you as 'fillers', then too. This happens naturally when you have re-played the main context it is embedded in.

this has been popping up a lot in the past few weeks.  this is an excellent explanation volgerie, other members take not if you have this question because this is a great answer.

won't he look sheepish is that turns out to be exactly what's happening?

you want to make it a present-tense declarative statement.  you're putting out an intention here.

the other important bit that is being left out is positive orientation.  you don't want to have negative words in your affirmation.  by negative words i mean things like can't, won't, not, quit, etc.  you're speaking to your subconscious and it doesn't use negative words and it doesn't think in terms of future or past, only now.

you also don't want to be anything but confident.  demand that your orders be carried out.  your subconscious will listen.

i'll tell you what your biggest problem is godsproxy.

well, your biggest problem is that you think you're a proxy for god, lol.  but that's not my point so i'm gonna move on.

you see dualism when what you should see is polarity.

Frank never did drugs & he rarely drank. He did not approve of gambling. Plus he wrote long posts on this forum for years, that takes up a lot of time. Gamblers/addicts don't have much time for anything but their addiction. People start a lot of rumors out of bitterness, envy & rejection.

that was a joke first of all, i really don't know anything about Frank's personal life at all.

second of all, i wrote two books while i was an addict.  i produced 3 albums, painted numerous pictures, went to college (and did exceptionally well), and a whole host of other accomplishments including much spiritual growth and development.  addicts are very good at maintaining their addiction and keeping a happy face for the rest of the world to see.  it's only those closest to an addict that really see what's going on.  so.....yea.

just saying.

like they couldn't handle his dead body popping up sometime.

besides summer, the big conspiracy is that he's been dead for almost a decade, not that he's still alive.

I also think, as Atralblogger mentioned, you might do well to have an abstract to this post, briefly and concisely listing in simplified terms what your primary goal is here, how you will accomplish it, and how people here can help with that.

jeez professor.  lol

seriously though, i feel like i just sat through the explanation for writing a research paper.

nice response walker.

good to see you here.

don't try too hard.  by this i mean don't over analyze.  in fact, don't think at all if you can.

that was my big problem.  i was always too excited and i was anticipating the experience way too much.  it pretty much ensured failure.

you gotta let go as much as possible, which i difficult i know.  but spend some time meditating (i do it as i'm going to sleep at night, which is probably creating a bad habit, but oh well) and practicing clearing your mind.

the state of mind you want to be in is described best (imo) by Robert Peterson.  He calls it the quiescent mind, which he likens to the moment after you see a flash of lightning.  In that brief moment you stop doing everything and focus all of your attention on your ears, waiting to hear the thunder that will soon crash.  That is the state of mind you're shooting for.

i think that presence in yourself.  in the borderland state, you are kind of split.  you still identify with your body, but you also feel like you're beyond your body.  i think the presence or the 'lurker' is really just your body perceiving your self-beyond-body.

I'm reading a book now (though you can certainly go other places) called "Walkers Between The Worlds" by John and Caitlin Matthews.  It's having a profound impact on me, but this "new path" has been a long time coming.

In fact, I was so moved by this book that I'm putting off the spiritual practice until I get my mundane life in order (which is a spiritual practice in itself).

I've been in a dry spell with AP for a little more than a year now.  This is purely because I haven't been trying.  My personal path required something different for a bit, so I've been pursuing the path of gnosis lately (wisdom).  Recently I have started to look at AP from a different perspective than what is commonly taught here and in the mainstream.

I felt that in the past AP was my goal (naturally I wanted to explore and what not, but AP was the end, not the means).  From my new perspective I have found that AP is just a tool, along with many other tools, to find the wisdom that I seek.  Beyond traditional OBE, I've also found that there are many varying degrees of otherworldly experience that are just as valid as AP.  A good example would be visualization meditations or shamanic journeying.  These are "imagination based" journeys in which you don't have to completely disconnect from your physical body.  The feeling isn't the same, but the wisdom gleaned is just as valuable.  In fact, while I haven't been projecting in over a year, I do pathworking on a near daily basis, which basically allows me to assume the role of a mythological character.  This is a common initiation experience for occult initiates.

What I have found is that personal work must be done before complex skills such as AP are undertaken.  You can achieve AP anytime, as I have.  But the experience will not be stable or as valuable if you have a lot of personal emotional turmoil that has yet to be handled.  If you are unstable in your daily life in the mundane world, how can you expect to keep a cool head in a place where your slightest whim can manifest right before your eyes.

Long story short, I am starting to understand that AP is not just a fun exploration experience, nor is it just a spiritual growth experience.  Walking between the worlds is part of a divine interchange between the mundane and the spiritual.  Both sides enhance eachother, and when one side is weak, so it the other.  I feel that this new path creates a better equipped projector, one who has the control that they need to really grow from otherworldly experience.  I highly recommend that anyone who wants a little more than just being able to project, or who is having difficulty projecting, so instead try to start at the beginning rather than jumping into the advanced stuff straight away.  Read some occult books, study some mystery schools and some shamanism.  All of these things are ripe with journeys to the otherworlds and you'd be surprised how much out there really is Astral Projection by a different name.  Don't be afraid to cast your net out a little further.  Nothing out there will hurt you, you won't get sucked into some black magic cult, you will honestly be better for the experience.  So, in summary, try something new.  It helps.

To PR and bedeekin,

What do you mean PR it is techinically pathological?

I mean i dont want the SP but i just wanna do it correct and go through SP . For now what i am doing is suffice but for the future it wont be. for now I can project upon bed as doing what i do but what i really want is full control of how and when and where i do this. I wanna be able to sit on a train and say yes i ll do it now or sitting in my room and say now. I know this sounds a bit dilusional but this is the progression i wanna work too. I dont want it to happen because it happens . I want it to happen because i said lets project. I know that makes me sound a bit of a control freak which i am not its just i feel this is a vital part in progressing.

Bedeekin, I love sp. I love the feeling its better than projection lmao

Take care guys and thanks

sleep paralysis, or REM atonia, is a natural function of the body to protect itself during sleep.  Once you enter REM, your voluntary muscle stuff is paralyzed (involuntary, like heart beat and breathing keep going obviously).  You aren't supposed to wake up during this period, which is why your brain waves slow down so much in these deep levels, to try and keep you asleep.  When you wake up in sleep paralysis it's usually because of some abnormal situation, like you were woken up by a sound or a cat or a partner rolling over.  Biologically speaking though, you shouldn't wake up in sleep paralysis.  This is technically different from the state before sleep that feels like a lead blanket has been laid over of you.  So what you're trying to achieve is the lead blanket, not sleep paralysis.  However, at this point we're arguing semantics.  I've been fighting with people on this forum about this topic forever and no one seems to remember or they don't care.  I would like for a different and more accurate label to be used, but in the end it doesn't really matter, it would just be helpful for explaining things here.

I died in a dream once.  I was in a war, maybe WWI or WWII, and I got mortally wounded.  I was laying there dying and suffering, begging any passers by to kill me.  No one would do it, finally someone agreed and shot me in the head.  Instantly I was just in a void, in the abyss, in nothingness.  I stayed there in nothingness by myself for the rest of the dream.  It was horrible.

On a side note, I was also a woman.
