i really dig your photography.

terror kitty actually put more of a smile on my face.

it's not so much of a practical technique as it is a description of the process.

any section that is about the "king in the afterlife" could possibly be thought of as description of projection.  modern egyptologists say that it is just about egyptian beliefs in an afterlife, but the story itself could just as easily be about projection.  i know it's long, but i would read the whole thing.  i read it when i was like 17 or 18 (7-8 years ago) and i feel like reading the whole thing was the way to go.

If so... then it would be fair to assume astral lions hunting astral Gazelle... or maybe the Gazelle get their own back in the astral. Remember that animals don't kill out of malice... they kill out of necessity. We... and to some extent Chimps and Dolphins do display violent tendancies for no other reason than for sport or fun... even then for Chimps and Dolphins, violent behavoir is primarily a group activity.

it's still an innate urge that in a sense is beyond our control.  i also feel though that sentient creatures such as ourselves are heavily influenced by the environment (culture/society) we develop in.  there are certainly complexities, but in general i think it's a cop-out to just say all of these "offenders" are pure evil or negative.  we don't really know.

also, i don't think these beings are objectively real either.
#780
it's also important to note that negative is a subjective value that we place on such entities from our perspective.  would the animals or plants we eat think of us as being negative or evil?
#781
In a sense they are all the same.  It's just about different ways of turning off your awareness of physical sensory input.  Some people do that by becoming captivated by their imagination (phasing), while others do it by going so deep in trance that their body falls asleep (kind of) while they maintain a thread of conscious awareness that carries over to "the otherworlds".  But, the actual mechanism is the same.

it's all about shaking your perception of reality enough to consider something outlandish.

I think it's fair to assume that out consciousness is the same. This is part of my problem I have on AP forums... 'Everyone is different"

This is an oxymoronic statement... especially since we are all interested in this phenomenon because we share common experiences.

If we were all experiencing reality differently we wouldn't be able to relate.

"do people see the same color as me?" does it matter.. as long as they attribute the name 'red' to their version of 'red'.

If I've got the wrong end of the stick about what you mean I'm sorry.

I'm color-blind, so the red i see is not the same as you.  In fact, I often attribute the name 'red' to what you call 'green' (which just makes me a pathological case, an anomaly to your point).  This has had a big impact on my understanding of how we perceive reality.  Bottom line, you have unique genetics and a lifetime of psychic (as in psyche) conditioning that influences your perception of reality (and who knows about a 'soul' or something similar?).  What you want to assume is that beyond your unique perspective, there is an objective reality that exists independent of your observation (and i'm not talking about quantum physics or the "new thought", which is just neo-new age).  But in truth, can you really prove an objective reality?  I don't believe in one.  For me, objective reality was a side effect of the development of language.  I am reminded of old stories like the tower of babel and the idea that language was a major influence on humanity's "fall from grace".  Or even knowledge of good and evil, knowledge that requires objectivity in which to separate things to label in such a way.

anyway, just some fun thoughts.

logic was spawned from human minds.  it is equally flawed.  it relies on current knowledge.  what seems illogical now may make perfect logical sense in 100 years.  logic is useful, but it is not beyond bias.

seriously?

i was just saying that we should think about what we say before we say it, nothing more.

this is a bit out of hand and honestly a bit ridiculous.  kind of exactly what i was talking about.\

jeez.

i regret starting this thread, and henceforth remove myself from it.
lol and a half.

i can't project when i smoke.  i don't mean when i'm high, i mean in general.  if i have smoked within a couple days i find it very difficult to focus.  i was the most successful when i was completely sober, for an extended time.

A helpful way to think of it is that you have millions of connections to the physical body, like a huge mainframe all connected with cables, millions of cables.  the time it takes you to disconnect depends on if you're just wildly pulling out plugs (maybe with the assistance of drugs or trance music or dancing - not bad, just unfocused and not controlled) or if you are taking slow cautious steps.  if you go the slow and cautious route, then over time you learn the proper sequence of "plug-pulling" and it takes much less time.  it's like a virtual reality machine and you can't just get out, you have to go through the operating procedure of disconnecting (the method of projection).  the more plugs you pull, the more you disassociate your consciousness from your body.  you never fully disconnect, until you die i suppose.  but you have to figure out how many plugs you need to pull in order for you to consciously project.

I would have to ask this too; I haven't been here for long, but I read the threads, and have not noticed anything too bad. Nothing that isn't found in any other forum (Social-wise).

Except, perhaps those two guys who appeared to be trolls. Then again, the way they spoke, they had to have known they were going to get talked down. Everyone I met here seems to be helpful to some degree: they state their beliefs and such, and share what they think will be helpful.

However...I do notice some people saying things like "There is no such thing...." and "Impossible..." way too many times. Is this perhaps what you are referring to?

Naturally the internet allows for blathering, but I always felt like the pulse was different.

What I'm talking about is newcomers being bombarded with criticisms of their posts and nay-saying.  I'm not saying that we shouldn't share our opinions with each other and new comers, just that maybe we can be a little easier on obviously new people until they get accustomed to our group.  If I join this forum and was told that my first post about my experiences was just unreasonable, ignorant, naive, wrong, ill-informed, etc. etc., I wouldn't come back.  And more to the point, who the hell do we think we are to instantly dismiss someone's personal experience on the basis of our own experience?

Like I said, it's all good, I'm not calling out anyone in particular and I don't even have specific people in mind.  I'm just saying that we should be aware of our attitude toward new people.  Perhaps is the compassionate side of me speaking, and I know that the "real world" is tough so they should get used to it, but maybe we can be different.  Maybe we can be the ones who care about each other and try to have an open mind and sympathetic ear.  That's all really.  Nothing drastic, just think about how you would feel as a novice trying to understand something amazing.

Be careful with drug talk.  Its kind of against forum rules (because anyone of any age and nationality can join the forum).  I've dealt with this issue in the past and its just easier not to talk about it on the forum.  Occasionally we make a comment about how drugs or alcohol effect our ability to project.  But as a rule we don't promote the use of illegal drugs to achieve projection.

(To clarify, there are many cultures who use specific drugs to project and I for one am VERY interested in that topic.  However, in many of the countries that have access to astral pulse, these drugs are illegal and we have to keep that in mind we bringing up such topics in our posting.)

So who is bashing?
everyone is to some degree.  Some worse than others.  But we all get a little hung up on ourselves sometimes, its only natural.  I'm not saying anyone is in the wrong, just that, as a community we need to be sure to keep that comradeship alive and remember that we are in this together against the rest of the world that thinks we're crazy.  We can build something great if we don't let ourselves be dissolved from within.

Ryan or Stookie, feel free to move this if you feel it needs to be moved, but I think it's ok here.

I haven't been as active on the pulse lately as i have been in the past, i recognize that.  But recently, I started posting more again and I have been shocked by something that has happened quite a few times recently.  I'm not going to share any names, but since I've been back posting, I've gotten numerous PM's from new members who feel completely turned off to the forums.  Something about my posts makes them feel more comfortable with talking to me and nearly every one of them starts out by saying that they feel uncomfortable posting on the forum because they just get bashed and looked down on.  A few of them have even told me that they will not be posting on the forums anymore.

So, take it easy guys.  Not everyone is as well-studied as many of us, but that doesn't make their experiences any less valid.  In fact, I think these members that are untarnished by the rigid systems of belief concerning OBE can probably teach us a thing or two.  If you take anything away from this post, let it be that we are here to help each other, not lock into a belief and proselytize the rest of the form.  Be open minded and accept that different people experience reality in different ways.  Let go of semantics and share in the wonder and mystery of this experience.  We are supposed to be "better than" the religious types who blindly preach their doctrine, yet I see it happening over and over.  By all means, share your experience, but don't tell other people that they are wrong for asking a question.  If you can answer the question from your perspective do so, but don't let it turn into "I'm right and you're wrong" because no you're not and no they aren't.

I have experienced what you describe.  I have only ever had the exit that you describe and i refer to it as a conscious exit most of the time because i'm aware of the transition from my physical to "non-physical" self.  However, my awareness was not always 100% (though there were times that it was significantly more vivid than waking reality), and I too could not control the duration of my experience to the degree that you describe.

that brings me to my point.  you are a natural, others are not.  it seems that for most people their psychological/physiological characteristics have a big impact on how well they are able to control their awareness.  for you it is easy to be completely "there", for me it is more difficult (because of my own unique set of mental conditions).

i am still of the opinion that all of these experiences are the same thing, but that doesn't really matter here.

ignore the vibrations.  continue to focus inward like you're trying to fall asleep.  you will begin to switch between awake and asleep rapidly and at some point will feel that you have risen above your body just slightly.  use your will (just do it as if you were awake and in your body, don't even think about being out of your body) to move up and away from your body.

alternatively.

you may already have slightly separated once you feel vibrations, so this is where you try an exit technique like rolling-out.

but i'll bet you're still at the first one.  so ignore the vibrations and keep focusing inward.

One thing thats really confusing me is how to look at the blackness in front of me.

I try focusing hard on it in front of me, I try manually relaxing my face while focusing hard. I try not  focusing on looking at it but being aware that its there. I try not looking at it and distracting myself with mental images so i'm not aware or interested in the black in front of me. I try controlling my breathing, I try letting my breathing do whatever it wants while I just let myself naturally relax without thinking about it. I try looking straight up with my eyes closed. I try looking straight ahead with my eyes closed. Etc until the end of time

I just don't know what the right thing to do is lol.

you're trying to focus with your eyes.  your eyes are of no use now and actually prevent projection when you don't let them "go to sleep".  the blackness is in your inner mind's eye, your imagination.  focus your attention in the middle of your forehead instead of through your eyeballs.

don't worry about defining what you did just yet.

enjoy knowing that you touched another world.

you now know that you are capable of such feats.

congratulations
