Good point!
But then, by your screen name alone I can see this topic resonates with.  :-)

Well done LightProtector.

Not an easy thing to do.\
I'm a smoker and yes it does definitely affect the aura. I've not experienced a 'yellowing', but I do definitely feel my aura (and my energy levels) diminishing when I've had a few too many.

So why dont I quit?
I still enjoy it! Gotta have some vice going. I don't drink and the sex thing's been a little slow lately.  :-)

Convincing the self is the first step...
Probably more like the second step. Awareness is the first.

Seeking ET,
That's big, and many of us here will be very proud of you for coming to this place of understanding. Big thumbs up there!  8-)
You're absolutely right. This is NOT what God is about, not by a long shot. It is however, what many humans are about. Once you understand this it becomes easy to see how many religions have 'fashioned' their Gods according to human traits and personalities.

I also agree.
Being consciously aware of the present moment, being "in the Now" not only keeps the ramblings of the mind at bay (I like what you said here Mindfreak), it's the only way we can place ourselves squarely in the middle of our own reality in order to make our reality exactly what we want it to be.

oh boy...here we go again...I can'd decide whether to laugh or cry
I so agree!
It's like basic logic and common sense become completely obsolete in the face of religious interpretation.

I think these interpretations are starting to become less convincing to more people for exactly the reason Mindfreak stated - more people are now turning towards the development of their own conscious awareness.

Mez,
I absolutely loved your post!
I couldn't agree more with what you said.

I think you've put your finger on the whole crux of this issue Mindfreak.

Two different religions arguing two different viewpoints, sometimes fanatically, but in the end they're really very much the same.

Paola,
QuoteChrist was not a christian, Buddha was not a buddhist, mohummad was not a muslim and krishna was not a hindu!
Isn't this so true!
These people didn't come to Earth to create separatism through religions. They were all trying to teach people NOT to go that way.

Yes, a full trance could have some rather... unwanted results while driving.  :-o

One very easy method is taking deep slow breaths and count them as you exhale.
Count however you want - from 10 back to 1 then back up to 10 again, or whatever works for you. This keeps the mind chatter down - you're focussed on both the counting and the breathing without being distracted from what's going on around you, and the deep breaths help keep you clear, energised and alert.

Hi Rain Frog,

You won't get anywhere near the quality of ready via email or over the phone as you will from a live reading. This is very much to do with the reader tuning in on your energies, which works so much better in person.

AS to finding someone good, the best place to start is find a new age gift shop in your area and enquire there. They typically have people attached to their shops who do readings, and they typically will only work with reputable readers as it could have a negative affect on their business if they don't.

Give it a little time and I believe science might be able to produce a theoretically sound reason for it.

Already there have been huge leaps forward in the realms of Quantum Physics and neurology that have lead theoretical physicists and doctors to accept aspects of what used to only be purely spiritual beliefs.

I believe it'll come. Its just going to take one or two noted scientists to be curious enough about it to look at AP in the right way and "find" something that bears scientific weight.

I think that its really good that spiritual pursuits are becoming more a part of mainstream society. Means we're starting to look for something more than what the material world offers.

More and more gyms are offering yoga and meditation classes, which is great! To me it means they're now focussing on more than just physical wellbeing.

Just my opinion here, but when people look at gaining enlightenment it so often seems that the Buddhist path is the first thing that comes to people's minds as being the best way, or even the only way.

To me, the reason Buddhism seems to work here is because Buddhists focus so much on removing themselves from the 'real world' first in order to find that place of enlightenmnet.

Enlightenment really is an inner journey, which means that it doesn't really matter what's happening on the outside. We all have the potential to find enlightenment here and now in the every-day mundane world that we live in. We don't need to separate ourselves from this world to do so. I feel that trying to find enlightenment by first detaching from the real world would make it less beneficial.

... Can't tell you everthing now, that wouldn't be fun!

Then I don't understand the point of raising this topic.

You asked for answers, you've been supplied some. Were they not what you wanted to hear?

Demons, Dark Lords, Negs, whatever you wish to call these entities, they're energy - they can't be destroyed!

Sorry BlackAngel, this is the real world we're in, not an episode of Buffy or Charmed. You can't kill or destroy something that made of energy. Very basic law of physics.

If you're concerned about 'demons' then I suggest two things -

1) Stop thinking about them or fearing them. Like attracts like - another universal law. You keep thinking about demons and that's what you're going to attract into your life.

2) If you think you're already suffering attacks from negative entities, fighting them isn't going to help. That just puts you down onto their level, and again, will attract more of that low level energy to you. Raising your energies, being in 'the light' - working with positive love based higher vibration energies will separate you from the darker lower energies. Shut the door on them, ignore them and work with positive energies and you'll not be bothered by them.

Though TK cannot be proved, justified or even accepted by science, it's still real enough. It's just one of those things that requires the application of understandings of not only the energies that underlie everything, but also our connection to those energies.

It's something that I'm also very much interested in, and have been told by more than one spirit guide that it's entirely possible and something that I'm capable of. The key for me is becoming fully aware of my connection to all things (oneness), and understanding how to use that connection to directly affect the physical world immediately. Our thoughts are affecting the physical world around us all the time, but the results are typically not seen immediately.

Much easier said than done though! True TK requires mastery of the physical. Not something we can gain overnight.

That is pretty cool!

Just goes to show how much we don't know about what's going on around us.

I think it'd be hard to find any objective medical evidence one way or the other, but I've done candle meditations with no damage to my eyes.

Staring at any illuminated object for a long period will bleach the rhodopsin - the photo-sesitive chemicals in the retinas, which is why you get that negative afterimage when you close your eyes. If you can close your eyes for a while and that afterimage fades, then the rhodopsin is regenerating and you're all ok.

The fact that you can look directly at a candle flame without it causing pain is a good indication it won't cause harm.
It needs to be an intense light source such as medium to high powered laser or welding arc to cause retinal burns.

Canicula,

Thank you for your comments here.
I really appreciate your support on this subject, knowing that you're coming from a place of personal experience.

Ahhh... the old "good / Evil" debate again.

It's too subjective to pin down.

Hitler was absolutely convinced he was good, and doing the right thing for his people.
While most people see him, or more to the point - his actions as evil, there is no doubt that if you step back and look at the bigger picture, his actions did indeed bring about much good. He shook the world up, and brought it to a place where the world would not tolerate such racist behaviour again. Also, Hitler would not have been able to act the way he did if he did not have a following of people who thought the same as he did.

His actions were not evil, they were a catalyst needed to bring about a change in people's thinking. If that catalyst did not come when it did, chances are we would have seen even more horrific acts of racism.

Hi Frozen Silence,

At the Spiritual healing and teaching institute where I work we've had a few schizophrenics come through.
More often than not they they have very strong if not profound psychic abilities, and have experienced some amazing things.

There's been one common element with these people that we've seen - they get on a high from their spiritual learning and healings, stop taking their medications then crash very badly and suffer from all sorts of terrible "astral / spiritual attacks" which are very simply their brain's inability to cope with the sudden chemical change.

I cannot stress enough - schizophrenia is a serious neurological imbalance that must be treated by correct and continual administering of neurochemical drugs provided and monitored by medical professionals.

Don't seek spiritual advice for what you've experienced until you are taking proper doses of medication in a stable, well-diciplined manner. Only then will you be able to start dealing with spiritual aspects.

how can i remove it.
By replacing it.

Belief systems aren't (or more to the point - shouldn't) be set in stone.
If you have beliefs that aren't serving you - that is, they're creating fears or doubts, then have a think about what these beliefs might be, then think about what the opposite 'positive' of that belief could be, then re-affirm that to yourself frequently.

For example, if you have a belief that chocolate cake makes you ill, that's how it will end up working in your life. Even if that sounds ridiculous, its our beliefs that create our realities, and it never fails.
Turn this belief around by affirming to yourself each day "chocolate cake is healthy for me...chocolate cake is healthy for me..." then that new belief will become the reality in your life and you will experience health instead of illness.

The more you tell yourself something, the more your subconscious will believe it, and the more it becomes your reality.
The subconscious doesn't know right from wrong. It just faithfully believes anything it's continuously told.
So we have a choice - we can continually tell our subconscious bad things or we can tell it good things.

Blessings,
James.

I voted other.

I'm essentially a spiritualist.
I don't follow religions and I don't have set belief systems.
My belief systems change and evolve as my understandings change and evolve.

Hi Archanon,

From recent experiences I would have to say that dark/chaotic/destructive entities are very definitely real, but are not the "evil villans" we generally believe them to be. They are simply catalysts - agents that are here to help us evolve by helping us to learn and understand the lessons of dark and light, ego and soul that we need to understand in order to evolve.

If we are living our lives from a place of ego - fear and darkness, then the Law of Attraction will bring us more of that fear and darkness until we "get it" - understand what those fears are, then move past them to live in a place of light.

People who find themselves under attack from dark entities are in a place where their souls are trying to show them what it is they need to do in order to be empowered. So they always have a choice - stay in the darkness and continue to draw in the attacks, or find out why it is they are drawing these things to them, step into a place of light and of personal power,  and firmly slam the door shut on those energies around them that would seek to pull them back down.

It's not about what is outside of you - it's about what is inside of you.
If there's something outside of you that you fear, what is it that's inside you making you fearful?

Blessings,
James.
