Not really sure if this is in the correct section but will my iPod be able to play all those high and low frequencies?

nanook

yes, its just music, nothig so verry special. if your cheap headphones can take it, mp3 ogg or wma can take it anyway. binaurals are acutally verry simple.

An easy way to check is just pull one ear bud out ... if that alternating wha wha stops then it's working :D

nanook

thats verry true for most binaural sets, grigori, but i think i is hard or impossible to tell that way in the case of boxed nirvana. (not sure thoug). boxed N. works with several voices without binaural inside of each one - i think. the binaurals are created by the summ of sounds. something like that. maybe if you have a good ear you can tell anyway.

Grigori

Well to be fair I downloaded the preset and not the MP3 and I think it's quite easy to hear the difference BUT if you are woried why not just pop it into something like Audacity from http://audacity.sourceforge.net it's free and you can zoom in on the waveforms. You wont be able to see the individual component frequencies unless you can do a fourier analysis and decompress it BUT you can easily see the larger frequency shifts.

Oh and yes the bianural effect is produced by the brain hearing a sound that's slightly out of phase in each ear. The phase difference is what the mind uses to create that wha wha at the desired frequencies.

If nothing else you can zoom in on a very small section and see that the left and right ear are appropriately out of phase. It's possible that the biaunural effect is lessened due to MP3 compression algorithms so if you can just download the preset   the wav output is 620Mb and very ipod compatible.

Oh and if you do try the Audacity program you can throw in subliminal messages or make self-hypnosis script recording and easily combine them  and drop them in your mp3 player
