guru searching

How authentic do you want? Do you want a specific tradition? How accomplished should your guru be? And most important, how will you know this person when you meet this person? You do realize, don't you, that the people most qualified to be your guru won't tell you that they are.

Before looking for a guru, look for a teacher.

A teacher will impart knowledge with the hopes that you will grow. Self professed "guru's" aren't as interested in teaching as they are in having you follow their ways.
