Well, I am sure the people themselves do, but in the interest of making a television show, they throw in anything and overdramatize the slightest non-occurance.

"What was that!  A SPOOKY GHOST! SHOW YOURSELF SPOOKY GHOST!"

Ten minutes later in the show, the incident is shown in slow motion, in infrared, as definitive evidence of poltergeist activity.
