Post by: Vilkate on June 11, 2006, 17:11:42
Hey, friends! I just had a thought that some of us might be making their own artwork, be it drawings, paintings, computer graphics or anything else in a visual form.
So, maybe we could share it with each other? Don't be shy, put the pictures of your self-made artwork in this thread!

Hey, thanks.  I too like the horse, I used to draw horses alllll the time.. love them.

I haven't painted in a while but I've been doodling all over the place.  I miss painting, it is such a comfort.. can't explain it.

Here's another pencil drawing I did long ago.  No story behind it... I just started drawing the bird dude and then just kept adding stuff.  Those are my doodles.  I have a really neat wizard one.. I'm looking for it.

Drawing is actually a good stress therapy, a kind of meditation. As a child, I used to draw my nightmares and then burn the drawings, believing that I will never see them again - and mostly I didn't.

Personally I use free services of the site www.foto.radikal.ru , but it is in Russian - if you don't know Russian, you might find hard to use it.

Maybe someone can suggest an equal English site?

Beautiful works, Astir!  :tickle:

Heh, you reminded me of something that once happened to a friend of mine. She, too, is very keen on arts, and her favourite medium is acrylic paints. So once in her art class she was doing a picture of something that was mostly in green colours. Later on, when she was going home, she noticed that a young man was staring at her all the time in the bus. She made her proudest look (like "I don't care you're watching me, see, I turn away from your looks") and ignored him.
At home she looked in the mirror and understood, why the guy was staring at her so much - obviously, she had scratched her nose and forehead during the art class, and half of her face was covered with bright green smudges...  :approve:

I love the magazine one Astir - I bet you had loads of fun doing that!

I did a collage in November last year - used all sorts of stuff - material, old paintings, even autumn leaves.  It was great fun, only took me about 20 minutes to do and I have to say, it's pretty damn good.  It's now framed and on my wall.

Some lovely stuff in this thread - keep them coming.

A couple more from me...

Oh, this reminds me of a peach I ate last summer. It was a wonderful peach. Juicy. Sweet. Mmmm.....
After a bite or two I came to the thing that looks like nut inside peaches, plums, etc. (excuse me for this description, I don't know how it is called in English   ), and I bit it accidentally. It cracked open. Suddenly, an ant literally JUMPS out of it! And, man, it was HUGE!!! I had never been freaked out by an ant in such way..

It happened when I was eating an ant, it tasted strange, juicier than normal and then I noticed she had unlaid eggs!!!  j/k :)

But once when I was small I think I ate 'iça' at some friends of my family. It's toasted ants abdomen, goes with rice and sallad, don't know. If my memory serves me well it wasn't bad!

How large exactly they are in Brazil?
Title: Members' Artwork
Post by: AndrewTheSinger on June 19, 2006, 21:53:22
LoL, I don't, I was joking.

The worker ants we usually see in houses are small, less than 1 cm I think, there are others even smaller, they say they appear when something's about to change, like a presage.

The ones that some people eat are kinda large, more than 2 cms, they have big bums :)

It's actually kinda rare you find someone that actually eats them, I heard that in the northwest it's kinda part of the folklore.

This is a painting i did in arcrylic for my Final piece in art 'college' for my first year. It's about 110cm by 50cm average. ( A small portion of the painting is cut from the image though, only the slight left side)

As you can see it's inspired by my passion for spiritual meanins in life - OBE and just other personal meanings and obviously sticking to the brief of my art project! Which was ''structures within structures'', I get my results in august.

I would appriciate it if you could leave a reply so i can see people's opinion on my work. Since you lot will probablly understand this piece more than anyone this means alot. ( I'm 17 by the way lol)

O and this painting was submitted out of my area to enter a competion to go to be exhibited in Newzeland (and a bunch of other prizes) just for some info.

Thanks, Darren!

Quote from: astirA medium that demands much patience.

You have to know exactly what you want to paint and where you want it to go, that's for sure.   So, I would say a lot of thought goes into it before hand.  With oils, that's the great thing, you can start out with half an idea, a whole idea, or no idea and you can change your mind over and over, while your painting,  if you want.

I do this with acrylic, it's more versatile than you think! Also you can add other solutions to stop it drying as fast but i haven't used this.
Title: Members' Artwork
Post by: Astir on July 03, 2006, 02:30:26
I've come to like watercolor over both acrylic and oil.
Although I can do a lot more with oil...I hate the mess. It gets everywhere and sometimes it doesn't dry fast enough for me. Acrylic annoys me because I guess...I don't really know how to use it (I've only painted with it once).

People often mistake my watercolor paintings for acrylic though...

I know I don't have a lot of talent on drawing, +these were made in school, during swedish and math lessons etc, so don't except much. :D Had a lot of fun drawing them anyhow. Just usually draw whatever comes to my mind at the time.

http://www.myspace.com/tacostalented (http://www.myspace.com/tacostalented)

of course music is art, bro

...and from what little I heard of tacos-talented on myspace I thought you guys were SUPERaiser poisonous!..which means cool
I REALLY want to play in a band again but I only have a 30 watt amp now   Need to save me some bills I guess. I'm such a bum it's not even funny.

I really like some of you peoples artwork too, but I should say all.  :?

I don't paint at all even though I'd love too, but maybe when I figure out how to work my digital camera I'll post what I sharpied onto my snowboard...jim morrison and some old bearded dude called "the giver" amoung other stupid things.

I'm into a bit of graffiti but I do a bit of photo manip. and some drawing sometimes.

These I did on photoshop.

This is a logo I did for my electronic music I make. The symbol is a 'phi' symbol.

A little graff I did, nothing spectacular.

and the attached pic was just for a laugh :lol

Not much compared to the rest of your work though, some of that is amazing.

Thank you.  :-)

The house one came out kind of with a weird effect, I painted the entire thing without changing the water once. I did this to emphasize the twilight...muddy water = no stark whites. I like how it came out. I might try that again. I love twilight scenes.

WOW!! many talented artists here, I love it!!   Timandra I just can't keep my eyes out of yours, like it hypnotizes me, those are my favorite colors, that might be the reason lol  :-D

I'll share some of what I've got, it isn't as good as all of yours, but meh, I guess I'll share them anyway.

First, the one I've got as my avatar, it isn't the original color though, I took a picture of it then played with it in my computer, the original was actually made with make up, lol.

And a couple of pictures I took in Stockholm, I know the first one is a messed up picture, but I liked the lightning in it and the blurry buildings

Beautiful those caves.

I have taken up drawing again because I want to be able to draw some of my astral screens, images I see in my dreams and obe's. So I am practising now, I use a picture of the subjects, because some things I can't draw by memory.
This is my first one and I am quite pleased how it turned out.  :-)

Myxo - that's an awesome sketch. I really dig the imagery in it.

Timandra - those are some cool fractals. I love the science, theory, & philosophy behind fractals - they explain the infiniteness of nature and all the infinite possibilities that can arise from it.

I go through phases with my artwork. I've got a sketch I'm ready to paint, but can't find the time to paint it. Spring is here, which means lots of yard work.

So I was at something called 'First Friday' last night, it's like an art walk down in the "gallery district" downtown.  My lady friend's sister's boyfriend had a show (it was a skateboard deck show, I'll post some of the decks he painted too.) and after we looked at his show we were standing outside waiting for his dad to come see it.  While we stood there two belly dancers and 3 guys in kilts showed up and started playing drums, electric sitars and started dancing.  I took this picture of one of the drummers and I caught someone's camera flash and some weird stuff happened.  I can explain the flash, but not the bars of color on the sides.  I don't know why that happened.

These are a couple of her boyfriend's pieces.

Here's one I just finished:

This is a vector drawing that I did in Inkscape, which is like a free version of Corel Draw or Illustrator. I've been doing vectored artwork at my job for years, but have never attempted to tackle an actual photograph, so I basically did it for the challenge and see what I'm capable of. It took me a couple months, about 4-6 hours a week, working in spare tidbits. By the time I got about halfway through, I learned a lot of new techniques and started quadrupling my speed.

This is the photo I worked from:

Story behind the statue: About 10 years ago, a friend of mine's Mom was realtor who was selling foreclosed properties and my friend cleaned out the houses for her, and he found this in one of the homes and gave it to me. It was spray painted all gold, so I got some paint and colored him up. (He's due for some touch-ups.)

These are good images, Bedeekin. I am sort of at a loss, since with the second image, the color texture and the lighting has the quality of a very good oil painting, but without any brush-strokes. The gradations, on the other hand, feel computer rendered; for that reason, it seems like they were partially generated by computer. What programs and techniques/media did you use?

The second in particular is extremely vivid and imaginative, and has very developed use of color and light. It looks like it possibly took weeks.
Title: Re: Members' Artwork
Post by: Bedeekin on April 25, 2011, 08:57:19
I used software called Painter. It's a digital painting software... I use a WACOM CINTIQ graphic tablet. They are generated by computer but I paint them in a traditional manner.

The second painting is a massive file in its entirity and took a couple of days.

Here's a close up of the Gaddergante...

The third image actually took less time than the others.

Here's a traditional pencil drawing...

this isn't really art, but i didn't feel like starting a whole thread.

i took these pictures in the great barn at the stagville plantation around Durham/Raleigh North Carolina, US.

the orb on the right and the shaft of light at the top followed me around for a ton of pictures, probably in the neighborhood of 20.  I walked around the barn taking pictures in different places to make sure it wasn't a light artifact.  i cleaned my lens, made sure my finger or anything else wasn't in the way.  and picture after picture, the same orb on the right (at varying intensities) and the same shaft at the top, popped up.  if anyone is actually interested i have a bunch more that i can upload in it's own thread.  i'm not saying it's ghosts or anything, i might have just caught my own energy because it seems to follow me and hold a similar position relative to me each time.  (it could be a nonphysical being that is following me i guess).  whatever the case, i thought it was cool.

More madness:

I call this one my "summerland experience", though I'm not really into the Spiritualist movement. to me it is more like one of Kepple's Focus 3 constructed realities. My pineal must've been pumping loads of DMT...

"none physical" just seems odd to me. By the way, I hadn't even noticed that you mispelt "reality".

When you ask a question like: Not in one physical realm? You can answer: "No, none."
But "not the physical" as one word, the correct word is "non-physical".  But it's not that important...:-D

I'm from fleet (hampshire) and i now live in farnham (surrey) as i'm studying design here.  just had reason to visit southend a few times! (apart from that photo, it wasn't massively worth the journey) :P

Wow, there is some really beautiful stuff. I do art myself. I'm big on sketching, markers, color pencils, and plain straight graphite. Maybe if I can get something zapped up, I'll put some up. I don't have a scanner and my phone just doesn't do it justice.

You guys are too kind. Really, thank you.  No one has been critical...More indifferent.  Kind of more... "meh", about them than anything.  Or Some didn't say anything at all which is more disconcerting for a painter, than, "I don't like this one".

I've been doing a lot of drawing since the beginning of the year. Pretty much since I got a lap-desk... I'd never heard of one before and now I wonder why I've never had one before. Anyways, they've been pretty much stream-of-consciousness, start with a basic idea and let it flow. Just a sheet of printer paper and cheap ball-point pen.

Here's the one I got. The bottom side has think padding like a pillow so it sits comfortably in your lap. I had seriously never seen these before I got one.

Remind of some japanese art work.

Awesome, because that's kind of what I had in mind when I started. I took a picture of my dogwood tree thinking of Japanese paintings of blossoms, kind of like this:

http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-fg4NPkAJy9A/TYVEpStS70I/AAAAAAAABgA/ehD2wN1XqOw/s1600/2%2BUme%2BUguisu%252C%2BPlum%2BBlossoms%2Band%2BJapanese%2BBush%2BWarbler.jpg

or this

http://chestofbooks.com/food/household/Woman-Encyclopaedia-4/images/A-Japanese-design-for-a-fire-screen-In-this-simple-yet-effe.jpg

The other main idea I had was 2 large columns, set up like a stage, where the blossoms are being "presented". In contrast to Japanese folk art, the columns were inspired more by HR Giger.

Those are awesome Stillwater. I've done some stuff in Zbrush, but I'm not too great at 3D modeling yet.

Lol stookie... you are going nuts with the penned stuff

Yeah, at the beginning of the year I decided to start these. The idea was to bring out my creativity in ways I've never done, and eventually be able to work those ideas into bigger projects. I have a few rules: I can only go into a drawing with a single, simple idea to build on or none at all. I want it to be in-the-moment, stream-of-consciousness. And I have to fill the entire page. My goal is to do this for an entire year.

It's already spawned 3 bigger projects... I'm working on a wood engraving right now (laser, not hand engraved) that I'm almost finished with. It's taken weeks. So much staining, poly, engraving, staining, cutting, engraving, staining, shellac... but it's almost done now. I'll post a pic when it's done.

You're painting is awesome Beedekin. It reminds me of a shirt I had as a teenager of an alien meditating under a giant mushroom (though yours is much more colorful and detailed). I think it's since gone to the goodwill. I wonder if anyone wears it these days?

I have actually never used zbrush, haha- even the academic version runs 450$, lol.

They were about 95% meshed, and then I used blender's sculpt functions. I don't know how zbrush works, but if you sculpt too much in blender, you start to thin out the mesh geomertry in regions, so you sort of have to model most of it.

Here's a new art blog I started this morning. It's mostly my early work at the moment... stuff I did for an alien exhibition... a sample:

I've been a busy bee....

http://bedeekins.blogspot.co.uk/

please check it out.

I did some Zbrush modelling for Harry Potter and Dark knight... but I'm actually not that proficient at it.  :-D Very basic level. Zbrush 101. not even that.

But I'm learning it because my industry is coming around to using 3D printing these days.

What does your company use 3d printing for? Fabricating things like ceramic set pieces?

No... The Jokers Henchmen masks in the Dark Knight. I built them on Zbrush then they were turned up in a 4 axis milling machine. Other things were the pommel of the Wolfman's cain and some other bits and bobs on Harry Potter. Voldemort's ring.

I finally finished my wood picture. It's 16"x13 1/2" and made out of birch. The process: I stained the entire piece with 4 coats of black stain, and then coated that with polyurethane. When that dried, I laser engraved the pattern into it. Then I did 2 coats of maple colored stain in the engraved areas. Then I put 4 coats of shellac over that. Then I cut out the pieces of the frame with the laser, and engraved/stained it the same way, and assembled it with brackets and screws on the back.

This was fun in that I used all my favorite art skills throughout the process: hand drawing, computer graphics editing, woodworking, & engraving.

Those are really good PR :). I like how you did the eyes, and the outline on your hair in the 2nd one.

I never really got into painting (without krylon ;) ), though I know I will at some point. The price of paint and supplies always drove me away.

this is a secret, just between me and you.

i used to work at an arts & crafts supply store called A.C. MOORE, kind of like Michael's, though I think they have a much better art department than michael's.  I was the supervisor of the art department (the only management job I've ever had) because of my art experience and notoriety (I won first place in the Virginia State Art Fair for charcoal drawing, which is apparently a big deal because the Classroom/Workshop/Studio Director hired me because she recognized my name from the art fair).

anyway, I wasn't a good employee.  Every single piece of my art supplies (except my canvases and gesso, which I make myself') I stole from A.C. MOORE.  Paint, brushes, palette paper, paint thinner, masking fluid, all kinds of oils and additives, etc., etc., etc.  I have literally thousands of dollars worth of painting supplies, every bit of which I stole.  So yea, I understand what you mean.  It's expensive.  But there's nothing like good old fashioned oil painting.  Though most painters I know have switched to acrylics because oil is just too high maintenance and expensive.  It really is tedious to set up and clean up oil paint.  Acrylic just takes a little water.  I still love oils though.  watercolors are fun too.

you know, i would also recommend getting into charcoal.  it's an underused medium and it's really quite amazing once you get the hang of working with it.  just be prepared to get your fingers dirty.  nothing blends charcoal like fingers.

Ha! I've known a few artists who did the same thing. They worked in art stores and got their supplies the same way.

That's not a bad idea at all. Getting dirty ain't no thang. Grease, oil, stain, & paint are normal parts of my life.

I haven't posted any art in a few weeks because I've been working on this window for my shop:

I think I've invented a new stained-glass technique, because when I was calling people in the industry looking for advice on how to do it, I kept hearing "I don't know, I've never heard of anyone wanting to do that before".

That's really cool Stookie.

I did some stained glass work in high school art class (i think i made a big sunflower for my mom).

It was a lot of fun, I really enjoyed it.  I'd love to do it again if I ever get some legit studio space.

But again, I can't express how great that is.  It's really really good.

Not when you have access to a high powered laser-beam. If I could just figure out how to attach it to a shark's head...

Really, it's a glass door from my old entertainment center. I painted one side of it black, then engraved through the paint down to the glass, then used enamel glass paint. I have one more door left, though I don't know what I'll do with it yet.

Yep. The irony of what I'm doing is I spend hours drawing everything by hand, scan it in, and then let the engraver cut it in less than 30 minutes. I made a jigsaw puzzle several years back where I used the laser engraver to cut out all the pieces. There's a lot of neat things you can do, though it's primarily used for real business. I need to find a way to merge art and business...

The problem is that they are antagonistic to one another, with entirely disparate goals that are often at exact odds.

Business is interested in art insofar as it can exploit it for profit, and art is interested in business insofar as it is an atmosphere where it is allowed at least a tortured and tenuous existence

Like imagine if a person with no interest in money or business were given the resources Hollywood normally lavishes on stuff like transformers...

You're right. The majority of marketable art is compromised to be profitable. The real artists who make good money doing it are rare. People like Alex Grey, as amazingly talented as he is, have a dedicated niche audience. I suppose if you could find your niche it would be easier after that. And if it's just a fad, you won't be in business for long.

Here's some stuff that I can now put out online without upsetting the artist who commissioned it...

These were designed and sculpted by me... They are about 3 feet tall and made primarily from fiberglass and polyurethane.

I then was the main sculptor on this 16 feet high version of Winter for the National Gallery in Washington D.C. ...

and then made the other three

Which now reside in Phoenix Arizona... go see them... you can walk around them and go... 'oooooooh that's ironic... 'Winter' in the desert. This is Winter being constructed...

Stookie that's amazing! I am getting back into art myself. I don't have much artwork I can put on here because well, I haven't drawn in forever. I have always been artistic and love to draw. I thought I would show my tattoo though. It means a lot to me. My dad has the same one (kinda) and I don't get to see him much anymore. I messed with mine a bit and added water etc. It relates to my projections too so it meant a lot getting it. I passed out at the end... It doesn't hurt but seven hours and NO breaks! Next time I am loading up on water and food before getting one.

Last one:

I know I've mentioned this before, but last January I started a series of drawings with just a few rules: fill the entire page, don't think about it ahead of time or during breaks, and when finished start on a new one immediately. It was basically an attempt to fish out some new creativity. If anything, it was the most enjoyable and effortless art I've ever created - it's nice just letting it flow with no expectations. It also amazes me that I never gave up on a single one or made any crippling mistakes. Now for this year I'm going to start with a new medium, though I'm not exactly sure what yet. I'll know by the weekend.

ChopstickFox... You sure have nailed wing anatomy. That commission is on its way.

Fairywindblues... I love your stuff. Love the Sydney Opera House and the Cherub playing Stairway to Heaven on the loot. That's what it's playing by the way. ;)

Also... I am collecting your profile pics to turn into an animation of expressions. The first one was you miffed off and looking like trouble. The second one was you looking sweet... this new one is the thinking one... I'm actually not collecting them btw.. that would be weird.

haha... I feel bad now. I was joking. I have a semi-photographic memory... and just noticed that you have had three pictures with different expressions that would look humorous if they were animated in a sequence.

Thinking about it though... it's not such a bad idea. Hmmmm

Here is an amulet I made when I was about 15 years old. I broke one of my mom's broaches to get the stones, and I used my dad's tools and wood to shape and sand the amulet. Then I took a metal wire, I heat it up in the fireplace and made those burn marks on the front and the back. I remember being in a semi trans state when I made them. I don't know if they mean anything, but I would be curious if anyone had seen such hieroglyphs, or know the meaning.

 Beautiful Lightbeam, simply beautiful!  :-)

Even at the young age of 15, you could feel your "calling".

I will have to search through my books on Sigils and Runes and check out some of the Sumerian Tablets and Ancient writings to see if you indeed did channel some higher power while in your semi-trance like state.

This looks like it had a purpose behind it. The Triangular shape is just the "icing on the cake"!

What do you feel/sense when you hold the Amulet or look at the writings/images?

The rest of my art can be seen at

http://ramenconnoisseur.deviantart.com/gallery/

but the above is my best piece by far, and I'm in the process of making more in the style.
I was just looking at your previous posts here and found this one.

This looks just like many of my NPR experiences. Whether it being through LDs or APs.

Many times in my LDs a Tornado/funnel/vortex situation is used as some kind of "board wipe" or end of the scenario. Sometimes it's been my mode of transportation arriving in the current scenario I am experiencing as well.

Your photo represents what I see very good. I just want to state that I have never seen an actual Tornado close up in this physical reality, but have been in and seen them quite a bit in the NPR.

The Girl who Paints Heaven!
Akiane Kramerik started having visions and dreams of Heaven, of Meeting God and Jesus Christ, of angels, of the spiritual realm. Soon, she felt compelled to start drawing, then painting what she saw in her visions.

What is striking about this is the colors being so enhanced. this is exactly how near death experiencers report the colors appearing when on the other side.

 Awesome!  8-)

The first two pictures look similar to areas, (especially that "Cathedral/Hospital" like building), that I have arrived at with whoever I had "retrieved", during a "Retrieval". (You can look up the word in the search engine here for more on that).

The next being the lands of Pyramids, been there too. Most people that know me here can attest to my "love" for Pyramids. You should see our home, lol!  :-)

These paintings were prompted by inner guidance through meditations in the Silence.
The themes vary from the Oneness of All Being, angels, and the spiritual journey of man back to the Source.

The Earth is seen surrounded by rings or spiral arms of angels.

I Am Presence
The Divine is known as the I AM Presence. All creations are really integral expressions of His/Her Being also called " The Beloved," the Sacred Heart, God, and "The One."

I think most people are familiar with my art.

I use a crystal, a camera and my consciousness to create what you see above.

In essence it is a form of contact with a variety of Galactic level consciousnesses who reach out to me in order to help create this body of work.

My website (https://consciousnessexploration.com) goes into it in great detail. If anyone has an interest in learning more.

This video might also be helpful.

If anyone is interested in readying your system for contact this is a good tool.

Each month you can spend time getting to know them one by one.

Acclimating to their presence, making adjustments within your system.

Well, since you have revived this thread and Suziefish taught me how to upload images from the PC  :-P  I'm sharing something I like to do too, crochet! I make these little fellows "amigurumis" (and some clothes) to sell them at the craft fair on the weekends to have some extra money. But it's not just because of that, I love knitting! It's almost an addiction for me, like reading...another addiction. One of the reasons I love spending a lot of time alone, knitting and knitting... until I get blisters on my fingers, oops! What I enjoy most about all this is that most of my dolls are bought by children from all over the world! So, these little ones in the pics are going around the globe right now... I love seeing the children's laughter, they scream when they see the animals and they are full of tenderness... they leave very happy, hugging them. I always knit with a lot of love, so that energy is part of the doll and goes with the child who receives it.

I only learned a few months ago! I still have a lot to learn from this beautiful technique, with a lot of love and patience... for all the children at heart!  ♥️
(the mushies are selling like hot cakes lol)
