How often do you wake up with an 'astral screen?'

I get really vivid imagery using a timer to make me hover between sleep and wakefulness, like this: http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=13576

The most unusual screen I've had was one that was bright blue like a Windows NT BSOD or a TV diagnostic screen. I haven't been able to reproduce it to see what it's all about but I've read that it's a 'clairvoyant screen', I have a feeling it's the basic template that other imagery is built on top of.

For instance, in many lucid dreams I've had access to a 'control panel' type of interface where I could bring it up and point to places on a map on the panel and I'd teleport there. I think the blue screen is used to create the control panel.

I get this every once in awhile and am working on making it happen more frequently.  It's very cool, like watching a DVD only better.

How many of you actually step into the scene (phasing) rather than just observe it?

Nowadays I always enter the location if possible...

hi,
I used to get the "screen effect' very often. it was a pretty cool feeling, just like sitting in the cinema. Unfortuneately the films I was shown weren't very pleasant ones. I remember that one was about war. It looked like a documentary about the military equipment...I also remember thatt I was shown some documents, with complicated math equasions, and I tried to remember them, but i never could. There was also this horrible voice telling me something in a strange language...something about the war.
The second film i remembered was also a documentary (it was really well made) about some girl who lived somewhere in the 1400 or something..(I saw her running on a beach all happy and stuff)..i saw her whole life, and it was very beautifully illustrated..then the narrator, the voice said she died on this and this day and she's burried in some place...oh great I thought, another negative story..and forced myself to come back.

I used to get them very often in my "scared -to -death-of-obe moment of life, and I always thought that it's a cool way in which my guides were trying to teach me something. I'm working the film buisness and i love film, so I think that it was very thoughtfull of them to give me lessons in such a great way.
I kind of miss it now because it really is a cool effect, especially when the cinema screen suddenly starts appearing in front of your eyes;))

Gandalf,
quote:
I was just wondering how common it is for others to wake up with this effect.

Maybe once a week, more or less. Not during waking, always when ready for sleep at night, or while starting to take a nap (not often lately due to being busy).

quote:
The scenes are usually full motion, full colour and sometimes with sound.

Yes, but no sound.Sounds present in other scenerios not related to a screen.

quote:
you can just sit back and observe the screen until it fades, or jump in, by willing yourself into it; you will then find yourself in that location.

No jumping in a scene. If I find myself in a scene I suddenly find myself in it after a flipping motion takes place. I'm aware of observing the scene and being in it at the same time.

Anything unusual that happens upon awaking is a surprise to me. I feel I have no control of that stage.

Hannah, how odd.  I also have had war visions like this, on the astral screen.  I remember one where I saw smoke clearing and a soldier sitting in a forest, taking off his helmet to treat a wound.  It was very ... weird.  I saw military vehicles and fire, etc.

Gandalf, I am not yet able to jump into the visions, as I'm sort of new at this and it takes most of my concentration to hold on to the vision.  But I plan to attempt this once I'm more skilled.

I get this by denying sleep using the method of propping my arm up at the elbow while falling asleep. Often this "astral screen" is very influenced by whatever I've been doing.

For instance, I triggered the screen last night. However, I'd been playing the PlayStation 2 game Champions of Norath. When the screen kicked on, immediate imagery as if I were watching the game with my nose pressed against the screen, or practically in the game. In the past, when I didn't understand it and had fears, I'd have demonic imagery from my fears pop up. Since I have a better understanding and have conquered my fears, its now far more pleasant.

hmm...this is odd Naiad780;) Do you have anything to do with the war buisness?? I certainly don't;)

Anyways I forgot to answer some questions earlier.
1. Yes I always have great sound...full blown dolby surround and great music. Very often I hear a voice behind me explaining what I'm seeing. Often it modifies itself..like it changes it's height  and language to some completely crazy and evil way of talking. Last time I had this sensation I made the voice 'shut up" by thinking "no way you're gonna scare me...yawnn..how boring". Suprisingly it worked.

2. I never thought of jumping into the screen..probably because of the nasty things I was seeing there, but I "dissolved into" the screen a few times when the 'movie" was more pleasant. Can't remember how I dd it though.

I haven't had this effect for over a year now...I'm curious if one can "grow out " of it during his/her developement. It's really great to know that some of you have also experienced this . What does this effect mean to all of you?How do you understand it?

I think experiences are not necessarily on a time table we understand.I think experiences come to be understood in due or set time.

Right now I'm looking at patterns with dreams and focus levels mentioned by experienced obers. It's taken me a long time to see.

Making no conclusions on things makes me more open to later or future understanding.

I was just wondering how common it is for others to wake up with this effect.
For those who are not familiar with it, I guess it is what would be regarded as a 'hypnogogic' image playing out in your minds eye; however it is ultra real, better than the best quality dvd! The scenes are usually full motion, full colour and sometimes with sound.

What I call the 'astral cinema screen effect' is what I believe is called by Monroe and others focus 22 or thereabouts. It is  the point at which you can observe a portal to some point in the astral; you can just sit back and observe the screen until it fades, or jump in, by willing yourself into it; you will then find yourself in that location.

Now, I have had quite a few adventures in these locations, which are always different but also seemingly random, although I'm sure they are in fact not so, I have probably been drawn to these regions for some reason.
Anyway, I have noticed that a great many people work really hard to meditate and bring on this 'screen effect'.
However, I am lucky because for some reason, I tend to wake up in just the right frame of mind, usually once a week on average. Usually this is the early morning, I am in a deeply relaxed state and within moments I begin to see the screen appear.

While allowing this to occur naturally saves me a lot of work, the downside is that because I have just woken up from sleep my awareness is not always full on, and I often get frustrated later in the day, when I think of all the obvious things I should have done, but which were not apparant at the time.

I was just wondering how many others get this effect at random, and if it occurs in the same way, ie in the morning just after waking up.

Regards,
Douglas

PS up until now I was happy to continue my explorations by allowing this effect occuring naturally, but the awareness thing is proving too much of a blockage; I am now thinking that the only way to progress is to enter *with* full awareness to begin with- that means hard work!
