Maybe when we AP, our consciousness leaves but not our soul..

Me and a friend were debating, as we usually do, and he brought up an interesting question..

  As you all know, when you AP nobody else can enter your body unless you let them. You also have a silver cord connecting you to your body, and when you die, it is cut.

  Now, I believe that our soul and consciousness are one in the same.. but he argued that maybe the consciousness leaves, and our soul stays in the body. That our soul is not what we "are" while we Astral Project, that we are just our mind. 










  What are your thoughts on this?

On this board, some users reported being seen while OBEing. So something may come out of the body. I too wonder what it could be.

I know something comes out, just maybe it isn't our soul, as so many believe.

I have my own ideas about what could leave the body but I have read too much Robert Bruce. That's where I get my hypothesis from.

See, that's another part of our argument. I believe the soul IS our consciousness. He believes it is not.

Well, I tend to agree with you, rather than with your friend then. For me the soul IS consciousness.

For some people, soul is what keeps the body alive. Hence soul is there before 'spirit' comes in the body during pregnancy.

For some other people spirit and soul are synonyms.

Robert Bruce says that a clone of the energy body leaves while OBEing... and that conciousness is in it, just as it remains ALSO within the physical body.

When I obe, I often don't have much energy to move easily.

Looking forward to know how other people stand with this important question.

I never read Mr. Bruce's stuff but I agree.  The soul is something that is very dynamic and isn't restricted by being only in one area at a time.  It is possible to have a part in your body and a part outside.  Consciousness would subsequently travel with the part outside when a person projects. 

Consciousness isn't necessarily an action of your soul.  If anything the awareness we have when we are entered into the more subtle energy bodies is inherently unconscious.  When are are unconscious we have a difficult time remember what was happening around us and even our own dreams.  Such is when we die.  We rarely have memories of the death experience. 

I suppose if you wanted a really great answer I would have to contemplate what constitutes a soul.  I'll think about it.

1.All people have same soul.  One soul is cosmic soul, god, the creator of consciousness who gives all people and verily, all things in existence, substance and form.  The great lie of history would then be that we are all spiritual beings, having a basis of existence in both the higher dimensional alignments and the lower planes.  The soul is consciousness, the densities and vibrations of all dimensional qualities unified by this hyper dimensional field.  All life is absorbed and given new form throughout the network of energy conduits that operate under established physical laws, such as, energy can not be created or destroyed, or, such laws as there are on conservation.

2.Each soul is the result of movement per moment for each range of lower dimensional values.  They begin as the smallest point of energy, but manifest because of their power and begin to perceive reality.  Because of certain laws of time each soul enters a reality of unique design, and from there can amass greater power.  We would assume that the astral planes are each some type of soul to which our soul bonds, and universe in same manner.  The astral planes are a frequency of densities per time elapsed, and with our physical organism we can shift perceptual modes to perceive densities and alignments peculiar to each spectrum of soul growth.

I do not believe in individual souls. I believe we are all one soul with many individualized consciousnesses.

I was thinkin this the other day.. To me it seems it may be just our soul (mind, consciousness) that travels in a sort of a dimensional body.. And then our spirit could be higher plane liveing body.. Or it very well could be our soul and spirit.. Tho i dont think all dimensional openings are open when aping.. To me there seems to be something more.. This is why i brought up the question to myself..

Perhaps it is just our Sentience and our essential self that project, leaving behind the etheric/life body and physical/mineral body. The physical body and etheric body, while products of heredity to an extent, are not, I believe, just products of heredity. The Spiritual being that you are, between death and re-birth, has to prepare the next incarnation (with a little help!) and one way this is done is by preparing these bodies according to our plans and our karma. This serves to highlight the idea that the lower members are manifestations of a higher spiritual truth/impulse, and therefore to some degree a part of us is staying behind while we project. The etheric and physical bodies are so much a part of us, that I think it would be hard for someone/thing else to wiggle its way in, and also I think  it would be difficult to loose the connection permanently.
