So I was very into AP and everything related to it for about four months. I read every book from Robert Monroe and most from Bruce Moen and I was a daily visitor to this forum, so after a couple of months I started to experience AP's, OBE's, Phasings and it was amazing, I was also experiencing lucid dreams so I thought I am in for a ride but then everything stopped.

I started getting caught up in the daily routine crap of being more involved with materialistic stuff and so I devoted less and less time on my spiritual development. Now that I think about it is as if I was after this beautiful woman who was hard to get and when she finally says yes I turn away and leave. Weird I feel as if somehow I was just trying to prove something and now that I partially have then I am done with it.

Well I am trying to get back into caring less about material crap and focus on my spiritual learning but I find it is less intense than when I started.

Has anyone experienced these kind of phases in their growth?

personalreality

Yes.

I just achieved OBE about 2 months or so ago, though I've been researching and practicing for years.

Then recently I had some health issues that forced me to stop projecting for a little while.  Now that I'm feeling better I don't have the same drive to project anymore.  Suddenly I'm more interested in socializing, not so much material concerns per se, but still.

Before, I would practice every chance I got to project.  Lately I've been letting great opportunities pass me by.

be awesome.

Dear mcdwg,

I believe there's a hidden magic key that decides over the success of people.
It can not be true that month or year-long practice is the key to success, when in fact some people succesfully astral project each night by 0 devotion, 0 dedication and 0 effort while having the most materialistic lives you can imagine.

So let's screw the idea of "progressing" in astral projection.

I've been spending enormous amounts of time trying to find that hidden key that opens the door to OBEs for anyone and I'm still not entirely sure what it is, tho I have made myself plenty of models.
I think that people who are succesful have stumbled over that key without knowing what they are actually doing.
And then one day they may lose that key again and suddenly they are baffled over why all of a sudden they can't do it anymore.

kind regards,

Paul

I know how you feel, I feel that I have put things in the backburner. Time to start again of course.

I think I did stumble over that key but I'm not using it to the fullest, I do have the inner feeling that I can get back and experience amazing things, I have had some lucid dreams and phasings in the past couple of weeks without trying so in a sense I do feel that once I started then there is no turning back.

We'll see I guess.

Wish you good luck in finding your key.

I like to call that key: Determination :)

There's no hidden key. I do believe that some people may have a natural talent for it, but that is rare. My key has been dedication, intent, devotion, patience, discipline, & hard work. And not just to get me going - it's a permanent life-style. When these things stop, so will progress.

Let's for a moment pretend that, as some sources claim and which i also consider as a possibility: that the third eye chakra activation/stimulation is key to astral projection:
It may take you years of dedication to finally and accidentally stumble on your third-eye chakra, likewise would someone who accidentally uses his third-eye chakra unconsciously on his 1st day be able to project just as well as you even though unlike you he has really spend 0 days on it.

Hard work and progress leading to development of astral projection abilities is simply a myth, as I stated before - some people achieve AP first night, not because of some mystical talent but because they stumble on the KEY on day 1 unlike someone else, who finds the key in Year #3, get it?

Sure many people would like to think that the enormous time they have dedicated to AP has lead them to some kind of progress with AP but the only reason they say this is because they wish to have some kind of reward and not feel doomed for having spent so much time for practically nothing.
They don't realize what I have stated above.

AP can not be learned like an instrument, it's a "once you get it, you get it" kind of thing, a doorway that you either find at once or you don't. And even if you have it once, you may lose it again if you delude yourself sufficiently.

Paul

There is still a developmental aspect.  Your projections become more stable and controlled as your practice.  But that's within the astral environment, not the actual getting there bit.

I agree with you.  I think there is a hidden key.

I get what your saying, but I don't believe it. No one finds some sort of key and then AP is easy. A person might get it their first time, but that does not guarantee a 2nd time. I AP'd my first time within 30 days, but over a year to get another one in. And that was after a full year of meditation and practice. I found tips and got better at concentration, but never a "eureka". Those moments are short lived as another stumbling block will always come up.

Concentration and focus of awareness is a skill to be learned, some better at it than others. You don't just become a master of concentration in some sort of magic moment. And I don't see how anyone can get good at this without focused awareness. To me, it seems an important key. He-he, "key".

Maybe I'm completely wrong and have been going about it the wrong way for the past 15 years and should be much further along than I am.

If there is a "hidden key" it's a personal experience or there would be some sort of web page dedicated to it. All I can find is a million people claiming to have a hidden key that they can sell you.

I was just going to start a new post until I came across this one which is the topic I am interested in. So I was going to ask, what are some things you have done to "learn" to AP? Personalreality had posted about a week ago his experience with Reiki. I was looking at some Reiki resources in the area where I live, but I am still somewhat unsure of it. Is there a relationship between energy and AP ability and how does reiki work? Do you recommed using this as a way to achieve AP?
I have my ideas of why I haven't projected. I want to see if anyone has been in the same situation and what you did to finally have success. Here is why I think I haven't projected yet:
1. Low energy. I don't know anything about enery, enery work, increasing energy, etc. I just 'think' my energy is low.
2. Work too much. I get up at 7:30 M-F, usually don't get home from work until 7-8, eat dinner, check up on Astral Pulse, read for a little while to wind down, and then go to bed ~11:00. I have no time during the week to try to AP.
3. When I wake up in the morning (this is on weekends), which is when a lot of people practice APing, mt brain starts to immediately race and I can't focus. I find I can focus better when I go to bed at night, but I just end up falling asleep after about 30 minutes.
4. I have 0 natural ability to project.
Another question is, how much time and effort do you put into AP? It might just not be meant for me.

I don't know who this question is for but I will comment from my experience.

I also do not know anything about energy, but I think basicallly in the first few months I read so much about this subject that I guess my energy levels went up, the reason I read was to learn and curiousity. I think in the process I raised my energy.

I also have a very hectic schedule but I always found some time to think about the subject even if it meant just closing my eyes and taking a mental break.

I beleive everyone has the ability to project but one must start from zero and progress from there.

#1 is your problem. get your energy levels up, and the other 3 problems will no longer be problems. Once I got my energy levels then I began to spontaneously project whether I wanted to or not. Which led to me stopping because it was too much in too short a period of time, but I'm giving it a go again. Deep breathing meditation and "feeling" the energy raise with each inhale is how I do it. I've read this is dangerous because you can activate the main chakras before the secondary chakras are open. I think this might be true so this time I'm doing it the NEW energy way starting with the limbs. good luck.

Regarding energy, I came across this video this morning. This is spot on IMO. The title is "How to Stop One World Government", but if you watch it, it explains a lot about energy and how we, and in fact everything in the universe, are energy.
