Ok, firstly I apologize if this is in the wrong section.

I've tried to astral project a couple of times before..but they were lame attempts, I mean, I wasn't expecting anything to happen then and I didn't give it 100%. Yesterday, however, I decided to really go for it, and I tried it using the rope method. For the first 5 minutes, nothing special happened, but gradually I could feel the pressure from my chest and stomach. Then slowly that pressure got really strong, but I kept on climbing the rope, then I started experiencing weird sensations, my head started vibrating vigorously, but I still, kept on climbing the rope, I felt...that I was just about on the brink of getting out possibly, but because my physical body was going crazy, my brother woke me up.

Ok, so attempt 2 that night, I reached a similar state in about 2 or 3 minutes, which surprised me. Again, my head was vibrating, and again, I could feel on the brink of getting out, but I just couldn't get out, now what didn't help, is that I guess I was trying so hard, my physical body was lifting from the centre, my stomach was elevated, and my head, it felt like it was going to explode, I kept pushing, but soon I lost energy and stopped.

Attempt 3! Again, I reached a similar state fairly quickly, however, the vibrating was much less this time, and whenever I started vibrating, I really focused on the rope, but whenever I really pulled on that rope hard and felt like I was moving out, the vibrating started again, it happened very periodically. Again, I got to that climax point, but I just couldn't complete it, I just couldn't get out.

I can't remember whether I had another attempt or not, but if I did, a similar thing happened.

Ok so basically, two questions I have:

1. Am I doing anything wrong? Should I be vibrating and should my physical body be lifting?

2. When I reach that final point, how do I finally get out. I tried so hard that my physical body was moving, and I'm unsure of whether that's correct.

Thank you very much for your help :)

1. I do not now about any "wrongs", nor "shoulds".
2. Perhaps as you already said, "trying hard" is the obstracle?

There seem to be lots of methods and/or variations to reach the aim... I "ended" up with a view, that stated, that we only believe to "need" an "astral body".

In my first attempts, I recall i must have been so determined, that I threw this created astral body literally through my room. For I recall having swayed all of a sudden on the opposite side of my room almost "against" the wall, until my excitement pulled me immediately back into my physical body >_<;

Who knows what works for you? Perhaps virtual ballons, or wings, or letting the ground fall away...

Also, some recommend to be in a place where nobody might "disturb" your physical body while you are on "etheral excusions"!

Ok, but what I'm driving at really is, when I get the vibrations, what should I do?

relax relax relax. Relaxation is the key to forgeting your body. I dont like any of the exit methods because most of them just try to force the exit and make me tense up and APing is not something that should be tense. I just keep going over my body, relaxing it, more and more, and then some more. Eventually the bonds of the flesh are so loose that I just end up out of my body. Do not try to force it.

I think for me relaxing is probably the key...but when the vibrations come, I can relax, and they go away, but I feel as I've deliberately stopped them and put myself into a "manufactured" sense of relaxation..
