i've only been aware of this concept, astral project for about 6 hours now. i'm completely fascinated by the idea of this and would like to commit myself to learning how to do this. i was just wondering if you had any good easy to swallow methods?

one question .. whats the most extreme thing that could possibly happen whilst attempting this? could i be physically or mentally hurt?

thanks  :-D

Welcome dkjx!

Personally, I'd just say that for most of us, there is no quick way to consciously project.  It usually takes a  lot of concentration and practice of techniques.  There are many files and threads on projection in these forums with helpful information that you can read, and I invite you to check them out.

Projection seems to be about what you expect to happen before you try.  If you expect trouble, like entities in the astral who will hassle you, you will likely find them.  If you expect positive things, that will be your experience.  I have projected many times, with the positive attitude, and have never experienced demonic attacks and other bad things that some people talk about.  William Buhlman is my mentor in OBE.  I would offer his books as good resources.

That's just my 2 cents worth.  Blessings to you on your journey.   :-)

Thank you so much! I definitely will go and check out the book. If you don't mind sharing, which method works best for you?

I appreciate your help.  :-)

I would personally recommend reading all the stuff by Robert Monroe, that is three books: "Journeys out of Body", "Far Journeys" and "The Ultimate Journey". It is some of the most inspiring and influential stuff I've ever read. I'd actually leave "Far Journeys" for the end, as a dessert, it is the best of the three in my opinion.

I find conscious projection (ie. lie down, close your eyes, project) very difficult. I've probably spent around two or three years trying to achieve that, with no success (although I still hope I can make it one day), until I realised there's an easier (for me) way of doing it, which is basically playing around with sleep. I suggest you try stuff like waking up two hours early, stay awake for half an hour and go back to sleep. The idea is to break up your sleeping pattern so that you have more chance of getting vivid/lucid dreams, false awakenings etc which can all lead to OOBE. If you browse this forum for a while, you'll find lots of methods to do that.

Good luck!

The Present Moment

I learned to project by reading the FAQ and Permanent Topics sections. Posts by Frank were particularly helpful for me.

dkjx,

Welcome to AP and your begining of a long spiritual journey. When I mean spiritual, it's just not "flying around having a good time on the other side". You will learn a lot through patience, kindness, education and this will be a life changing event. The work you put into practice, trial / error, exploration in the astral you'll arrive patiently at slow results. It will take time to chip away the ice of validation and spiritual awakening.

Anyways, pay attention to the people on this board, join in the discussions, ask away, but don't be afraid of falling down.. just make sure you have the will to get back on your feet.

My suggestion for you and what helped me along the way for the last twenty years is tracking your progress through journals, what you eat, exercise, diet. What ever you can get your hands on for reading material go for it!

Authors I really enjoy reading are as followed:

Dr. Elizabeth Kublar Ross (Wheel of life)
Don Piper (90 Minutes in Heaven)
Keving Williams (Nothing better than death)
Robert Peterson (Out of body Experiences)
Ann Varnes (Creating your reality)
Robert Monroe
Robert Bruce

I could list about 70 more books that I've read and are excellent, but this will wet your whistle for
starters.

Your also welcome to visit my web site at www.invisiblelight.us on my twenty years of experience with projecting..
