Firstly - Hi Everyone - I'm Arkwind, im 18 and from the UK and studying at uni in Birmingham.

I have recently developed an interest in astral projection, i used to read a lot of spiritual books pertaining to spirit guides and other planes along time ago but in recent months i have been practicing meditation on and off. I stumbled upon the whole AP scene when i started to hear noises and voices whilst deep in meditation and the whole AP topic came in to view, so i've read alot about the topic from what i can gather on the internet and it seems there are 101 ways to Astral Project or experience an OOBE. Most of the methods i have read contain a stage in meditation where there are vibrations and other symptoms such as the odd sounds i had been hearing.

Recently i have started meditating with the intention of APing and separating from my physical body, about 15 minutes ago i had my first strange experience which is why i join this forum instead of just lurking.

I had downloaded a brain wave generator and was using it to meditate and get into a relaxed state lying on my bed, after about 20 mins my left hand because what i can only described a paralyzed, it was laying flat on the bed yet i couldn't feel the covers at all, shortly after my left hand became like this also for a few seconds, my right hand stayed like this for about 3 minutes before i focused to much on it and then regained feeling. Does anybody have a clue what this means or is it just nothing, because this has never happened to me before ?

Thanks for your time,
Arkwind

Hi there, welcome to the forums!

Quite simply, you were beginning to lose awareness of certain parts of your physical body.
This is the first step to projecting.

Out of curiosity, what was the brainwave generator?  :-P
Hemi-Sync has also given me some weird sensations.

It was mentioned somewhere in this forum - i got it at http://www.bwgen.com/ and was just using the preset brain wave tracks .

That you managed to lose sensation in your hand so quickly must be a good sign.
Today I learned that my sister has been experiencing all sorts of connections to astral projection such as vibrations and disassociation with her body before sleep all her life - and she doesn't even know what astral projection is! Yet again, she's younger, so I should probably help her preserve her advantage before age claims it.

My point being, perhaps your brain is wired favourably for this.

When i started reading up about AP one thing struck me instantly,

about 7/8 years ago when i was a kid i woke up in the middle of the night completely paralyzed and at the bottom of my bed was a humanoid figure shaped like a man but probably 8ft tall and made of a pure black mass, its the blackest thing i have ever seen, so black that it stands out in a pitch black room. It terrified me as a child and i still can remember every second of it. So it seems i may have demonstrated signs of sleep paralysis and astral travel like experiences when i was younger too. Maybe kids are more susceptible.

don't worry.. you should just get used to bodily feelings like that and only observe them but don't react to them, earlier today a nerve in my brain felt like it was going to expand to the point it was going to pop and explode inside my brain, but i just ignored it.. though thinking of it actually doing so was somewhat amusing
