Kabbalah and OBE?

About 2 yrs ago I bought a book titled "Out of Body Experiences, how to have them and what to expect" by Robert Peterson.
I read the book, front to back more than once and did the exercises chapter by chapter in the course of one year and to no avail I never experienced an OBE. I had stronger Lucid dreams but that was all I accomplished. I have not tried since 2004. Last week I was at Borders looking in my usual "Metaphysical Science" section and came across "The Power of Kabbalah" (which was in the wrong section but none the less jumped out at me). I picked it up and could not put it down, I was enthralled and bought it (eventho' im a Buddhist).
I read on the train on the way home, I read in the kitchen while I made lunch, then I retreated to my room and thought that I would take a lil cat nap (although I was not tired, I just wanted to relax and enjoy the natural high I was receiving from my new readings).
Within 10 min I felt a tingle in my head, not just my head but my brain was high, like I was peaking on a drug, I was scared for a split second and was aware of my surroundings and decided to got with it, that is what I told myself. So I did, I embraced it then a couple seconds later I saw a bright white ribbon dancing as if it were in water or more like how cigarette smoke dances and at the end, (the end closest to me) the ribbon was shaped like hand and it was calling me to come with its index finger. I decided to embrace as well and said to myself "ok I will go" and then a split second later I was vibrating and it was the most beautiful and peaceful feeling, I sat up and realized my physical body was still on the sofa, I decided to test myself to make sure I was feeling what I was feeling, so I laid back down then I proceeded to stand up. It was incredible, I was totally conscious, just like I am right now. Wide Awake.
It did not last too long, my roomie knocked on my door and I then passed out and the woke up in my physical body. I did let her know what I heard her chatting about outside my door and she said she way sorry, she did not mean to Be so loud, she had no idea I was napping. She just confirmed the conversation I heard while I was in my OBE.
Very Surreal

Hey Mauvees,

I remember reading Robert Petersons book a long time ago :). The first time I ever attempted to consiously project I used one of his techniques. I simply lay down and did the 'swaying from side to side' technique and literally within minutes the vibrations hit me. It was quite amazing that my first attempt, with no relaxation or preperation brought about such effects.
I didn't have much luck using this technique after that (I think I always gave up too soon), but it just shows how random attempting to project currently is.

Congratulations on your experience though :).

I actually sell that book at my bookstore but have never read it.  I guess I will now.

I've got that book too, I enjoyed it.  I found it interesting when it said that the alchemist John Dee was the original '007', that is where the name came from.
Is astral projection part of Judaism?  I know that the occult Kabbalah is supposed to be different to traditional Kabbalah.
