First let me give you a little bit about me. I pop up on this site from time to time with a question or two. A while back I was trying to project just about every night. Lately not so much. Anyways. I just had a crazy experience and I'm almost completely certain this was an OBE. This is what hapened.

I had woken up around 4:30 in the morning. Tried going back to sleep and couldn't. Was on my laptop till around 6:30 when I decided to try and get some more sleep or just listen to more music. I'm listening to this binaural beats track and more quickly than usual felt that falling feeling that I had grown so accustomed to. I must have been going under deep though because I was drifting in and out of sleep it seems. Not sure for how long though.

This next parts hard to describe. I must have woke up in sleep paralysis. I've never had sleep paralysis before but I'm pretty sure this is it from descriptions. I feel myself wake up but my eyes don't. I can hear the music playing but I'm sure I'm hearing other things that aren't part of the binaural track. The falling feeling comes on out of nowhere, stronger vibrations than I've ever felt before. I'm so sure it was sleep paralysis because I couldn't move anything and certainly couldn't open my eyes. So I decided to go with the vibrations.

I'm falling and falling and suddenly it seems like my vision kicking in. I think usually when people OBE they say they end up in their room first right? I didn't but I don't know why. Maybe I had actually used phasing instead. I'm still really confused as to what happened. I told myself that I had to fly out of my body and the first images that come to me is me flying over what seemed like the earth but almost like a giant mural painting of the earth. Then I thought of someplace I wanted to go and I was there instantly. A lot of things looked really surreal. The part where I was flying over the Earth almost looked like a dream. Still if it was a dream this was unlike any regular or lucid dream I ever had before. I've never had such a state of consciousness either during a dream.

Anyways this whole ordeal couldn't have lasted more than 5 to 10 minutes. I think I willed myself back into my body because I thought about my body and then started falling again and all of a sudden could hear my binaural beats going on but I was still in sleep paralysis. Took me another minute or two (but it seemed like forever) to wake myself up for good. Immediately I had to share this because it is certainly the closest thing to an OBE that I have ever experienced. And if it wasn't one it was definitely the most insane lucid dream ever.

Does anybody else think this was possibly an OBE?

Hallo Michael
Yes, that Did appear to be an OBE.
Your confusion may have been due to the binaural CD. Maybe the pulses sent out by the CD somehow distorted your astral senses. It's also possible that the OBE part of the experience was actually quite short and that after only a few minutes you slipped into a dream.

Congrats- it sounds like an AP to me.

This has all the telltale signs of an OBE Michael. There are always times when you do not end up in the room that you projected in. As to places looking surreal, this happens occasionally. Sometimes, but rarely, i have seen areas i know very well as if they were animated.
You mentioned you heard noises other than the bin-aural track. The astral noises can get very bothersome at times. Sometimes even causing one to abandon an exit. It's important to ignore them at all costs. When they are heard it may help to mentally imagine the noises being locked into a box and locked with a key.
After your first conscious experience the quality and quantity of experiences will increase exponentially.

Happy traveling
