I have been practicing this for years on and off because of a natural experience that accrued to me when i was young. I have worked so hard and long at this, trying just about everything from diet changes to spiritual practices. Last night I wasn't even trying and ended up almost projecting. I could hear lots of people talking and I started to spin my astral body in circles. I felt a huge jolt like something was trying to push me out of my body. I became very scared and stopped my progress. I then had a tunnel like vision and could see into someones room from up above. Im not sure who, but the clarity was amazing. I was completely awake, but when I closed my eyes I could see into this room. The point is, I can never project. I have this fear of being possessed or losing my soul. And I hardly have any success!. why is it so hard and how can I simplify it?

when you project you don't leave your body you start to use 2 body's at the same time
so the risk of possesion is not any greater than day to day or dreaming,

only you know what your scared of so you must overcome if you want to succeed

good luck

Thank you, that does make me feel better. I have been tainted by religion i guess.

What NoY said.
When you get some experience you tend to sometimes experience bilocation, demonstrating this to be true.  Another way to look at this is:  Imagine your energy body is a balloon that expands around the physical.  Your physical body is still contained within this balloon, but your energy can get info from other places, through inner senses.

Okay. So I feel more confident, but is there anything that would prevent me from experiencing the projection? It feels out of my control. I can meditate to the point of vibrations and even hearing them, but the actual moving of my energy body happens randomly and not often. I end up feeling discouraged because of all the efforts and such little results.i know I should be grateful because some people don't even experience enough to believe in it. Also, what was that force that slammed into my energy body? It kind of made a sound and tugged like a magnet. That's what scared me. I'm really thankful to have people to talk to. I have been very alone in this. Thanks

Your subconscious is the 'guardian' of your experiences- what you have learned in the world is what you have programmed into it, and it will follow the programming because that's what it is for- its natural function.
In 'regular waking' life, you only project when you sleep, so its natural impulse is to prevent this conscious experience- because it's what happens every night when you sleep.  So when you begin to have the conscious overlap of what happens every night, your subconscious reacts by trying to keep you from experiencing this- especially if you have 'natural' fears, such as fear of heights, falling, etc.  And then there is this (also natural) fear of a stranger approaching- which is another side effect of projection- the ability to perceive nonphysical entities.  It's one of those things- you have certain expectations when you're in-body and awake, and in projection these expectations are invalidated, and a subconscious block arises.
Now, there is a way (simple) to overcome these blocks, and it's simply to tell your subconscious (the silent observing part of yourself) that it is ok for you to perceive what happens when you project, that you want to experience the loss of weight, the loss of a physical body, the energy body expansion that comes with projection.  Then you can add an affirmation to cement this self-talk- my favorite is "I remember my projections".  Do this at night before going to sleep, even if that is not when you practice.  What you are doing is reprogramming your subconscious.

Maybe practicing some form of energy work may help with navigation and energy body awareness- Yoga, Tai Chi, Qi Gong, and NEW (and Reiki, also) are excellent ways to get familiarized with energy body sensations and control.  This is something you might want to look into.

It's possible that was your own energy body contracting or expanding, and perceived from the point of view of the physical body.  I call this feedback effect "Dweller on the Threshold", because it is your own energy body perceived as an external entity.  When you have transferred the conscious awareness to your energy body you experience it as 'you' leaving, but when this transfer is incomplete you have these effects- the one you described, and other more frightening effects, including back-and forth strobing.  It is possible that it was facilitated by spinning- a method I do not recommend as an exit technique- I only use spinning after having separated and wanting to change locations.

Hi, I'm new to this sight. I've been astral projecting for years and have become very aware of the details involved in projecting. Fist of all I will state that I experienced childhood abuse which stimulated a splitting of conciousness.. I believe this has allowed me seporate from my body quiet easily. I'm sure these tips have been mentioned elsewhere in this blog but I will go through the process of my projections.
1. Tell yourself that you are going to astral travel 2. find a comfortable spot with absolutly no interuptions. 3. lay down like you are going to sleep or nap. Clear your mind of everything- everytime something comes into your mind push it off. 4. In the moment right before of right after you slip into unconcious dream state conciously become aware that it is time to leave your body. 5. Notice your spirit self swelling above your body- move your conciousness into this swelling and stretch it away from your body. This feels weird- almost uncomfortable. 6. Then relax a moment- it will feel like you have failed and like you are laying in bed awake- but you have just moved fully into spirit form. 7. Now get up and walk away. Look around it will seem like you are in your physical body but things will be a tad different. Now head outside- you can go through the walls but it is wierd so I just open the front door and go. 8. Look around outside- you will be in the dimension closest to the physical dimension so it will almost be the same- walk around - it will be like floating- practice being in spirit form- walk, run, jump, fly.- just doing this is good to start off with. It is kind off hard to fly expecially when your close to your physical body- it seems to suck you in. I have to flap my arms like wings sometimes to keep going but people probably have different techniques. Then you can just take off, check out everything around you- I've noticed that there is a shadow (person) that goes with you- mine looks like peter pan with elf ears. I'v had so many cool adventures and seen many beings but will end my post as I couldd go on and on.
