Ive been trying to astral project for a while now with not a lot of luck. I have a hard time getting past the paralysis because well... its kinda scary. I think this is the closest ive gotten on purpose (a couple of years ago i levitated out of my body on spontaneously. I was having trouble keeping my eyes open so i went to lay down for a little while. As my mind started to wander and relax I thought i would give it a try. For some reason i started thinking about my experiences in iraq and started to get very anxious. It was almost a half dream of gun shots and explosions. Now ive gotten the vibration before but never with a pulsating sound. I felt myself... come out of my body one limb at a time except my foot. It felt like it was stuck. I tried relaxing and just letting it happen but i just couldn't get it. I also expected to see the black shadow and was prepared to keep going) I actually wasn't scared of it this time). But then i heard a bunch of yelling outside and i snapped out of it. I tried it again... same noise, same vibration. This time it felt like something was holding my astral body in and  I couldn't break out. Not a scary sensation or anything i just couldn't quite get there.

Could anybody give me advise or relate to that? It literally just happened and I just registered with this site so I could ask somebody. I would appreciate any words of wisdom
Thanks

Hello and Welcome to the Astral Pulse!  :-)

Be sure to check these "Stickies" out, they hold all the info you will need.

Here's a good place to start: http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/welcome_to_out_of_body_experiences/sleep_paralysis_the_intruder_or_presence-t40033.0.html

Once you understand what Sleep Paralysis really is and all the effects it creates, you will find it much easier to not only control and confront your fears, but also to SURRENDER
TO, ALLOW and WELCOME IT, to take place.

From there, you are off exploring!

Good Luck and Safe Travels!  :-)

Hello Nick.

You have already been through more stuff then what I hope most of us will endure in three lifetimes to experience. Don't give up on trying to have an OOBE. Like Lion said, read the articles regarding sleep paralysis and work through that first. Really understand the natural process and this will help alleviate some of your fear and anxiety.

The rest is just a matter of trust and allowing it to happen.

Good luck and thank you for all you have done.
It ain't what you don't know that gets you into trouble. It's what you know for sure that just ain't so.

At the point that you were at when you couldn't get in, I believe you were supposed to try to use a method to get out. You are very close to projecting. Just don't give up.

Hey Nick,

My best advice would be to not force it. Clear your mind and not necessarily intend to leave your body... just focus specifically on your breathing and being one with the vibrations that you feel. You'll eventually come to the point where your consciousness sort of diminishes as you are about to transition. Try not to lose consciousness at this point... meditation significantly helps to refine one's ability to maintain consciousness when this occurs. I'm skeptical of imagining that your body is about to leave, though many have claimed success with that element of technique. You are not supposed to be thinking in the process: "Why can't I leave my body?" or "I'm going to leave my body, this is it". Just continue to focus on the vibrations (and not the feeling of sleep paralysis per se) and on your breathing (even if it is eventually faint). Yes, if you focus on experiences in Iraq or any experience that stimulates emotion, you can sort of speed up the process of crossing over into a different dimension; HOWEVER, I believe that doing that will just burn you out (you may experience anxiety/feel anxious, or get a panic attack and thus won't be able to handle the "transition", especially if you have not acquired sufficient vibration-al energy).

To add, the ability to travel, in my opinion, will refine on its own so long as you refine your character. Continue to do good unto others and thus continue to cultivate good character. Any obstacles you encounter on your path will most likely be the result of karma -- everybody has it, and we pay for it through cultivation of character. If you feel a negative energy or begin to think negative thoughts while meditating or trying to project -- even if you see a shadow on your wall or something else meant to spook you or deter you from your practice -- just continue: the will power, strength, and determination you put into your practice will, in turn, pay for some of your karma, improve your character, and increase the potency of your energy. An individual with the purest heart need not really try to practice a discipline like qigong, for instance, for the accumulation of energy and thus powers because it all comes with good character anyways.

Hope this helps!

Cheers
