Spatial Dimensions in the Measurement of the astral planes

I have yet to have any OBE experiences beyond a few extremely vivid lucid dreams, however I do not discount their existence- on the contrary, although I have yet to have one myself, I am all but convinced that they must be a reality. Something that always intrigued me is the correlation that has been demonstrated with the two commonly used definitions of "dimension"-both the spatial one dealing with quantitative linear comparison, and the looser definition which refers to any plane of reality. As the astral has been called the "fourth dimension", I always thought it rather intriguing/convenient that it is often described as having four spatial dimensions, even by Robert Bruce. With the understanding that many describe both a spherical sight, and some alien sensation of existing in a world with either four or two dimensions, I have a few questions, aroused recently by reading the post on two dimensional pixels, and the physical theories of the "string concept", which recognizes the possibility of 11 spatial dimensions.

1) for those that have projected in realms consisting of a number of dimensions other than our native three, how did you determine exactly how many you were experiencing, and how exactly would you define the connected visual/equilibric sensations?

2) If you can answer 1, what is your explanation for the existence of these other planes of varying dimensions?

3) (same criterion as 2) What sort of interactions have you had in any of these planes?

I await the potentially interesting responses that I know are possible on these forums...

Thank you,
Stillwater

I think its something that has too be learned if you know what I mean. Like for example a baby has no real sense of depth perception. They see in 2D. They have to slowly learn to judge distance and then they gain an understanding of the three dimensional nature of physical reality.

I think its the same in OBE. I think that yes, we may be perceiving 4 dimensions but I don't think our mind has the ability to understand that, so we just see in 3D. Once more time is spent in the OBE environment then we start to gain the concept of 4 dimensions. I have personally never experienced anything like a Fourth dimension, but there are a lot of crazy things that have happened to me which I think have to do with four dimensions but I haven't had the ability to understand them so they just seem to me like screwed up experiences that I cant understand. Maybe one day we will realize that the mind split doesn't even occur, maybe its just an interpretation of a perception of the fourth spatial dimension?

  Anyways good post!

Hi Stillwater

Good question. There are certain times that I percieve myself to be moving in a direction different from our usual three dimensions. It`s a shift that always occurs at the start of a projection, and sometimes during, particularly when I`m changing location. The best way I can describe it is as a movement "inward" , as opposed to the usual three degrees of freedom,up down, forward back, and side to side. It feels very strange and totally different from anything physical.Maybe this is a fourth dimension but I`m leery of fitting a physical theory to non-physical experience. I tend to agree with glacius that our minds might not be capable of percieving a fourth dimension, at least in a way that would make sense. But hey, who knows. If string theory turns out to be correct we can all come to grips with eleven dimensions. That should be fun!

Glacius:

I think that your reasoning is probably sound, in that it would be difficult for our minds, which have so many years of experience in three dimensional existence, to be able to fully accept that there is another dimension, even though it would seem that our simple three could account for every spatial location. I look forward to the time in which I may experience this phenomenon as well.

Coral:

This idea you bring up of inward and outer movement is fascinating- how would you explain this action physically? Would you say that you are shifting in frequency, and that the plane on the next availible frequnecy, with its surroundings, comes into focus, or that you somehow manage this inward movement, but remain in the same relative vicinity? You have certainly peaked my attention.

Thank you both, and I would love any other responses to this thread,

Hi Stillwater

It`s hard to put into words. It feels like my consciouness collapses and then expands in a different direction. However it`s not like any movement in the normal three spatial directions. In fact it feels like my mind is doing a backflip while turning inside out. I find it a pleasant sensation. It happens quickly so I can`t really break it down further. The reason I brought it up is that it is different from most of the other non-physical things that I experience,  that fit into a three dimensional model. Like I said I don`t really have any idea if this is a fourth dimension or not, or if frequencies have any thing to do with it. I`m more of an experimenter than a theorist. I`ll leave it to the folks with the degrees in advanced mathematics and the cyclotrons to figure out. Speaking of which I need to find a good (and cheap) quantum mechanic for my truck!

Happy Trails

I got some quantum mechanics for sale. They're out in my shed. 100 bucks  They're in Good condition too. I don't have any MDs though all out of those. Only have PhDs left.

So that's where the Public Broadcasting Station got all those guys to lecture about arcane topics and simplify higher physics to a level that Joe Public could understand  ...
