I am in the middle of this book and I enjoy all of the information and insight. I was surprised to find that I have done a lot of the energy exercises he describes without reading or being told about it-it just seemed to come natural when i was younger. However, I don't think doing all of these is essential to OBEs. They do have their own purpose though.

Energy work is not necessary for projection, but it certainly is helpful in terms of experiencing energetic events and that OBE exit too.  It also helps with difficult events, such as uncontrolled exits.
