Healing power of sleep?

This isn't really about dreams, but it's kind of related, as it's about sleep.

Kiwibonga told me in another thread that when we dream, our consciousness visits other people/places, etc. Now there have been times when I've been feeling really miserable or unhappy about something, and been crying a bit beforehand, and I feel tired, so I end up dozing off for a bit. Sometimes, when I wake up, I feel just as bad as I was feeling before. However, there are times when I've woken up, and I'm not feeling bad. I feel, if not exactly happy, at least not sad. I feel more peaceful. I feel as though my mind has been cleansed of what was troubling it.

Admittedly, this is a temporary feeling. Sometimes I'm feeling unhappy about whatever it is again that same day, or I'll start feeling that way again tomorrow, or whenever. But for a period, I'm not feeling bad.

So, my question is, can our consciousness travel somewhere, while we're asleep, and heal itself of whatever its feeling unhappy about (even if it's only temporary?)

I have read that when we sleep our bodies are charged with energy. We go through an alignment of sorts to keep everything on an even keel. That's why it's important to live a life that won't deplete energy from our bodies.

People that live healthy, clean lives, retain much energy which is conducive to having OBE's.

I've not had much physical energy my entire life, no matter how much I sleep, nor how much I dream...especially since puberty. I don't experience any great recharge. But I think unlike most people, my energy is spent in other ways. At all times I believe, I have a foot in the door of another consciousness. I would describe my reality as layered with shallow skins separating. The problem is I cannot take my foot back. I can only go inside that door and can never go completely outside of it. When I sleep my dreams are just as real as reality and I remember this reality as if a dream.

I am sleep deprived even when I sleep. I can never get enough. Life feels very much a duality. When I sleep I am not sleeping. I never cease. I know nothing of dreamless sleep. I can only experience nothingness through meditation, and it is after meditation only that I feel rest, that I feel peace.

I always awake more tired than before bed...especially if it was a very involved or busy dream. I usually have a lot I must do :-P

When I was little, I used to think I really went somewhere and did these things because I just could not rationalize the exhaustion otherwise :-P I've always struggled upon waking. I need 12 hours at least on each side.

I think sleep is a regeneration process of some undefined source of energy. Even when I project, there are still times of the night I can't account for. This said, I wonder what the case is in higher dimensions. Do they need to rest as well or does the fact that they transcend time cancel this out?

I'd like to think that in higher dimensions, people can rest, even if they don't need to. I like the idea of, after I'm dead, snuggling up in a nice bed.

I'd like to think they rest. Perhaps have some kinds of spiritual supersports for entertainment

I suppose speculation won't get us far.
