Lost control of Lucid dream

Hi all, a few nights ago I went to bed earlier as I was on a 5am start, but took me well over 1hour to get to sleep. Once asleep I found myself in the middle of a neighbourhood unrecognisable to me, but I knew I was dreaming so I tried to take prompt action.

Right I know I'm dreaming i thought to myself. There was someone nearby who I felt was a dream distraction to me so I focused my thoughts for some reason on trying to manipulate my surroundings. I commanded everything around me to go dark, as in day to pitch black, don't ask me why this. Everything started getting darker until I couldn't see anything at all. Then to test my ability to change things I tried to turn pitch black into day, so I said I want light and waved my hand in front of me trying to rub the darkness away.

While doing this light started to appear behind my hand as if I was wipping a window, and I was. It was a window in a space ship, pannelled windows and it was day outside. I was then able to fly in my space ship, then my lucudity faded away and so did the dream.

My question is is that I said to myself I want an ootb not thinking that I already was, but lacked the total control over this experience to do whatever I wanted. I know various methods to stay lucid but to try and remember them all the time while in this state, suggestions?

 It takes a lot of practice to have any semblance of control period. I don't think anyone gets total control every time. You are doing fine. You realized you were in a LD, then started to test and manipulate it with good results. You can't really ask for much more. Most people will envy you as it is!  :-)

Review the various methods you know to stay lucid every day. Especially before sleep.  Write them down or have handy the texts where you have read them and go over them daily.

This way you will put them in your head and be able to remember them.  It is like military training.  You go over something again and again until you do it without even thinking, even when things get confusing.

You know many methods of how to control your LD's, read about many methods. Why not just concentrate on one method at a time. Try each method one at a time. If one method doesnt work try another. One will work and when it does stick to that one. You know you can do it. Good luck - enjoy!

going through the methods i already know daily and writing them down is a good idea and choosing one method is also good, will do peeps, cheers.

I agree with this. The first one that will really help you is to be "aware". Just stop during the day at different times and thoroughly check out your surroundings. Allow yourself brief pauses. You will notice that by being more aware in the physical, you are teaching yourself to also be aware in the non physical as well.

Ya, I also agree with above all. You should read some more methods for controlling a dream. And use only one method at a time.

I dont think its a case of reading more. Too much information and or methods can hinder you. Just having one method and trying that should work.
What does not destroy me only makes me stronger
