why do I see strange things when my eyes are closed?

so I've noticed this phenomonon many times, but perhaps most clearly yesterday.

I lay down to sleep and I focus on my 'third eye' and suddenly I see a white / purpleish bubble in the distance, it grows larger and larger and larger until it entirely overtakes me. Once it overtakes me I am just 1-2 minutes away from being fast asleep.

I also sense a wash of motion within the darkness (my eyelids are closed), it is like an ocean of energy and occasionally some waves wash over me in different shapes / sizes --- think of it exactly like a screen saver.

anyone out there experience this too?

It sounds like hypnogogic imagery - it's very normal to experience. When the senses down for sleep, your brain is still looking for input and fills in gaps with images, sounds, and/or feelings.

If you want to lucid dream or astral project, keep a passive awareness of these things as the go by. Over time you'll increase your awareness until you find yourself aware in another state of consciousness.

I wonder if its clairvoyance, remember clairvoyance appear as shape, color, symbols, geometry and even clear pictures. That's cool thenoob keep observing what you see to develop it

I think it must be hypnogenic imagery more than clairvoyance, though I do get random images appearing as well as conversations / whisperings going on which are lucid (but pointless when I rationalize what's actually being said)

I've been doing hemi-sync lately so I think that is a big point in expanding my awareness.

I compare my progress lately to how I was six months ago it is hugeeee, not even necessarily in results, but in awareness of what is what... I hope I can say the same thing later on in the year about my current point

It's the same thing- Hypnagogic imagery it's what it is, clairvoyance is the ability to really see(hear) them and remember them- in other words clairvoyance it's what you do.  It's origins can be memory of the fivesensory perception or some other realm/locale.  Knowing the difference is probably talent.  JMO, of course.
