If you follow NEW you have nothing to fear. I do not think you can hurt yourself, atleast if you use common sense and don't push anything. If you feel pain or discomfort just slow down, maybe take a break and then work on the area slowly. Unless you really push it you won't have any problems.
Alice had got so much into the way of expecting nothing but out-of-the-way things to happen, that it seemed quite dull and stupid for life to go on in the common way.

Ok, I am not someone else but I will show you how safe energy work can be.

Long before I knew anything about body energy (chi) I started working with it. I just felt things, this tingling sensation. I would play with it, making the sensations stronger and moving them through my body. At the time I had no idea what it was. I just knew what I felt. Many years later I found out about this energy and started working with it more and in a more uniform fashion. But following the rules so to speak was not important as chi is natural and a part of who we are reguardless of if you work with it or not. Listen to yourself and your body as it knows what is best for you.

Generally speaking, while you're doing energy work you should be breathing normally and relaxed. If you ever find yourself tensing up or constricting your breathing, then you might want to ease off a bit.  For more information, I recommend "The Lover Within" by Julie Henderson, Ph.D. and "Male Multiple Orgasm" by Jack Johnston, M.A. If you don't have the money, simply pay attention to how you *feel.* And be gentle with yourself. You'll be able to take it much farther in the long run. I speak from a few years of personal experience.

I've hanged around a lot there, I never read anything about causing nerve damage by raising energy.. I remember an article by Peebrain that recommends this. Anyway, I think they mean it's bad when you overdo it. They get a lot of newbies there that wreck their bodies trying to phase trough walls of levitating stones or something... I wouldn't worry if you use your senses, stop when it's enough..

I already readed in 2 places on www.psipog.net that they don't recommend drawing energy inside the body specially in places with several nerves like the solar plexus, because it can cause nerve damage. Is this true ?! I think not, according to the exercices in N.E.W., but considering that when clearing energy blockages pain is usually felt, then maybe the nerve damage can happen if we try too hard to clear energy blockages and if we fell strong pain, what you guys, including experts, say about this, there is any posssibility of nerve damage when drawing energy ? I personally don't believe much on this, but i want to be sure.

I find if I try to force a sensation in my fingertips when the sensation's not happening naturally, then I do get an uncomfortable feeling that could be do to straining the nerves there.

I'd say that this whole chi thing is so under-studied by science, that most stuff you hear is going to be hearsay.

I've never experienced anything bad from drawing energy (though I only ever do it from my hands and feet).

Maybe someone was just expecting nerve damage, and it was kind of a reverse-placebo for them.  When it comes to things dealing with chi, or psychic powers, the mind's expectations are more than half of the equation.
