Schools of reiki

Yeah, that's my question?
Why are there so many schools of reiki? :confused:
What's the reason?
Does each school open to reiki (which is one and universal) in a bit different way? Or are there only a few (or one) ways to open to reiki, and these schools wary mostly in names and structure?
Or does each school open to different type of reiki? If it is so, than are all those reikis universal, or just some of them? Or... are there just few types of reiki, and schools which open to a certain type wary mostly in names and structure?

Oh, yeah, I forgot to mention it... there are over 70 different schools of reiki
