Vick's Vapor Rub should help with the pressure, or if you have one a humidifier.  For the cough I like to use honey, one because I like the taste better than cough syrup and two it coats the throat almost as well so it works pretty well as a substitute.  Hot tea can also work wonders for the cough.  I tend to use green tea but I would think any hot tea would still work.

Thank you, Links. I have been drinking green tea today. Luckily I usually have some with me here at work. I did not think about Vick's Vapor Rub, thanks. Now it is about time to head home for a dose of honey. I don't think cough syrup works all that well, atleast it does not for me.

Thank you [:)]
Alice had got so much into the way of expecting nothing but out-of-the-way things to happen, that it seemed quite dull and stupid for life to go on in the common way.

A little hot toddy.....Hot tea, lemon and a dose of good sippin whiskey such as Jim Beam, Scotch, or Canadian Club.  It might not stop the cough, but you will feel so soothed you will forget all about it.  [:D]

When you do the Vicks Rub on your chest, it also helps to wrap your chest in a big, warmed towel.  Use a tight T-Shirt over that to hold it on you.  Have a nice sleep and you will feel better in the AM.

What are the effects of alcohol on the immune system? It can make you feel better, but does it hinder your body's ability to fight illness? Seems like I read that somewhere, but since most medicines contain it it must not be too much of an effect.

The Vick's Vapor Rub helped a lot. Tea and honey helped with the throat and cough. Before bed I had a glass of red wine. That made me feel better, eased the pains, and helped me sleep. I feel a little better today.

Thank you two for the advice. [:)]

My favorite is using a hot wash cloth soaked in ginger and putting it on my chest. Steaming ginger in a cup for breathing in the steam helps. In my yard there is a weed we call creeping Charle which has purple flowers and climbs things like a vine. I use it as a tea and it helps get rid of the cold fast but most people don't even know what it is and it isn't likely you'll be around any.

I haven't had a cold or flu bug in a long time and my kids brought home plenty of colds this year. I always am the only one who stays healthy. It's because I eat raw garlic every day. I mix it with melted cheese to take away some of the hot flavor. To bad most people can't handle raw garlic because it is the best cure for a cold that I know.

Greetings all!

Yesterday my upper chest started feeling heavy and tight and I have developed a cough, though the cough is not really bad but the chest pressure kind of is. I do not feel sick, but this pressure and cough is kind of annoying. I was wondering if anyone has any home remedies for this they would like to share?

Thanks [:)]
