i think that it is caused by your struggling to Become a writer, rather then letting yourself slip into one, give yourself a brake
is it You or your mind (ego) seeking fulfillment in being an author ??

Me or my Ego? i'm not sure. I no longer want to write "to make money" and sells rights to hollywood (although that would be nice) Right now i am at the desperate point where i just want to write to entertain myself and get away from boredom. I don't watch TV, i don't have many friends, i read a lot but i need breaks from reading, i exercise a lot, and spend time at Work or otherwise spiritual questing.

My Creative Outlet is plugged i want to unplug it. I want to create again as freely and easily and joyfully as i used to without "forcing" it, because it cannot to forced and only leads to compounded frustration.

stimulating it would get you aroused faster than to write a book, but hey, it could be book about arousal [;)]
maybe you have too much "mental furniture" to do anything new, forget about the past, focus on now, maybe that could help [?]

yeah, i've been working the second chakra with kundalini exercises, but kundalini is HARD for me, rather painful, and i'm not sure how far down that path i can go without a regular class and teacher. I do like it though.

Far as the sex life, it's the pits. Rock bottom gutter. I think that might have something to do with it, i've been devoid of passion of years. And i'm not a monster, really! [:)]

hah! yeah, that would make a good book. I know i asked Runlola this once months ago, but kundalini DOES make me a little horny. Too bad i can't channel it more useful directions.

you mentioned you were desperate, if so you're unbalanced, meditate and discern what is important and what is not, and what do you really want ( i don't find writing books as a primary goal, they have to have some purpose, like teach, amaze, whatever), maybe writing is just a step to something, it doesn't have to be writing to achieve your goal

yes, there IS an imbalance, somewhere in my life that is tying off my creative outlets. Writing for me has in the past filled me with Purpose, a feeling that "hey, here's something i'm really good at, and i love doing it."

i'm working on my meditation skills. Actually, and this could be a related problem, i have trouble blanking my mind for very long. Thoughts pound in, distract me, etc. I've been trying primarily in the morning hours, between 5-6 am when the world is still asleep (the ambrosial hours as they so eloquently put it)

I've had much more success at relaxing and then focusing my energy toward certain goals, but that's not really meditation, not the inwardly listening kind anyway.

Hi Narfellus,

The following is a very simple yet effective spell. It's so long since I used it that I couldn't tell you how I came by it. As I said, it is simple, so outcome depends on how much energy and sincerity you put into performing it. You could add to this spell easily, with herbs for example. I used this a couple of times and found that it made significant improvements to my intuition, visualization, and creativity.

Revive Your Magical Powers

On the night of the Full Moon, anoint a purple candle with vanilla oil. While anointing, raise energy and focus it into the candle. See it glow with Magic. Light the candle and go outside (if possible) or near a window where you can see the Moon. Place the candle on the ground or windowsill. Reach your arms out to the Moon and say:

I ask for you power on this night, by the powers of the stars above me, so shall it be!
Visualize your arms and hands soaking up the powers of the Moon and into your body. Put out the candle and leave it on your altar overnight. The next morning, Repeat the spell with this chant:

Oh dear Lord of sky and sea, Lead your magick unto me, By soil, wind, flame, and sea, This is my will, so mote it be!
Soak up the powers of the sun. Go to your alter and light the purple candle from the night before and meditate on it until it burns out.

Be sensitive to the subtle changes you will notice in the coming days

"Concentration" by Mouni Sadhu will transform your ability to concentrate if you practise even the beggining excersises.

Kind regards,

Blue Moon Saturday night, which makes it more effacious if I remember correctly.  That spell sound vaguely familiar, like something I read in a tome from the late 70's, maybe not, it was a very long time ago.
There is a physical limitation upon how much light a human body can sustain. Interestingly, there is no limit on how much light a human vessel can generate. When fully enlightened you must instill your light in order to maintain its wisdom.

narfellus

thanks for the tips everyone. I was actually looking more closely into candle magic right before i checked back to the forum. Seems like a fairly simple yet effective way to focus ones energy on a singular goal. There is REALLY so much to learn and practice, there's no wonder it takes a lifetime to master anything!

I have an interesting question (to me anyway) i would like to propose to the group:

A few years ago i wanted to be a writer. I decided that it was the path and career of professional creative expression for me, and i wrote prodigious short stories, novellas, novels, games and adventures. A notebook was always handy, and my work situation allowed time during the day to create (which is my key time, not late at night).

I felt very confident and excited, and i learned an incredible amount about writing, including how little i actually DID know. I joined on line workshops, i critiqued others, i offered my own submissions, and learned in a community setting (like this forum).

For various reasons i cannot completely understand, limited success eventually led to the well of creativity drying up. This has many possible causes, from personal problems, lack of outside energy from friends/associates, despair from seeming failure, envy of the seeming ease and success of other writers, and i'm sure other causes i haven't put into print. I realize that some of the word choices i just mentioned will raise some red flags: "envy" "despair" "failure."

Well, Narfellus, you are surely being negative, that's your problem! Well, if only it were that simple.

My own life is undergoing wonderful and tremendous changes on a spiritual and mental and emotional level (and sure, physical too, let's throw that in there).

But the creativity well is still dry. I LONG and DESIRE to write, to indulge myself in fanciful stories of high fantasy and extraplanar wonders, and to quote another famous writer (forgot who) "I write to learn what i know."

Writing is a deeply spiritual endeavor, one that connects us to our Higher Self. At the height of my writing and editing the ideas would flow like summer rivers, crystal and clear and invigorating.

I have prayed for the answers to my lack of creativity. I have meditated. I have read books on the subject, and i have tried and tried to FORCE myself in small ways to create (this long post by the way IS something)

Angels have not visited me in a flash of light with a Wand of Writing. Calliope the Muse has not (yet) tapped me on the shoulder and asked me to scoot over so she can write. Bubbling wellsprings of half-finished stories and tales i deeply yearn to know myself are still basking in deep, underground places, waiting to be unearthed.

SO, to end this lengthy post that i hope SOMEONE has followed to the end, i feel that i am being led by God/Goddess/All to find holistic solutions to my problem. I feel that at one point i was given the Ecstacy of knowing the fun of writing, had it taken away, and then given the opportunity to find it again with new skills i needed to learn.

Holistic solutions have generated energy and confidence in other aspects of my life. I am currently very intersted in plant/herbal magic, sex magic, gem magic, color and sound and scent, and ABOVE ALL prayer and gratitude to God and my Higher Self.

If anyone can make some suggestions as how to shotgun my Creative Writing Muse into gear again, i would be greatly appreciative!!!

whew.
