I though the mention of an upturned pentegram might draw comment, I know its a dodgy one. However, again, you only seem to be agreeing with me that people reverse symbols to produce their opposites, irrespective of the true depth of their magical aspirations.
Anton Lavey was a bit of an egotistic fool, but he had some interesting ideas. What came from the COS after their big split was even more interesting.

interesting read, but I looked into the other stuff Knapp wrote and his 'picture' evidence, some of it seems pretty 'hoaky'.  I really don't like archeological evidence, there seems to be too much tampering with that sort of thing and too much deep reading into pictures.  Now if someone found krishna pictures in America, would one say that All of America were once krishna worshippers?

Scriptural evidence, written records, stuff that's more a part of the cultural tradition is much harder to tamper with, and seems stronger for me.  I was actually surprised myself when I read the Tacitus Germania and that 'man' occurs as the word in All of germanic/nordic languages for human, there were certain religous practices which I looked into that seemed similar.

then I read further into other histories and how other major civilization came about, Manu is also known as the emperor of heaven -- head of the "heavenly council" of creators or 'masters of the universe' and makers of kings and emperors of the earth as well.  he is called a hero, the first one to initiate sacrifice.

thanks, the_demigod, i had the same question. I'd known for years that Hitler was interested in the occult, but was never sure of exactly HOW far this obsession went. The Spear of Destiny, The Ark of the Covenant, The Green Dragon Order, etc etc. Hitler obviously wanted to use occult black magic to subdue the rest of the world. An earlier post suggested that he learned how to make powerful speeches, which is certainly plausible. Power of the Word. What else did the occult offer them? Regardless, they ultimately did not benefit from it, other than killing millions of people and getting their beautiful homeland bombed. (in hindsight though, history does let us learn what unchallenged men can do with unlimited power and corruption, something that can easily be applied to modern times)
