I'm packing for a move to the Bible Belt.  WHY in the WORLD would I do that, you ask?  Well, I have several good reasons, the mountains being one of them.  Anyway, every time I drive down there (through Maryland, Deleware, etc) I fiddle with the radio looking for a decent station that isn't calling itself The Christian Values Radio Station.

One day I just got tired and gave up, and listened to the supposed "Christian Values" for awhile.  These people were OBSESSED WITH OTHER PEOPLE'S SEX LIVES!  They ranted about teens having sex.  Gays having sex.  Single women having babies.  Unmarried people having sex. Sex on TV.  Sexually transmitted diseases and abortion. SEX SEX SEX!!!!  There was not ONE TOPIC that was not sex related!  They had an 800 number, I almost wanted to call in!

I'm not saying all Christians are this way . . .  but man! it's funny.

Yea,and its not only the christians.
Christians,jews,muslims,wiccans,druids(hmm,no not druids)
all share this view on sex.

Why?

Tisha, what is Freemasonry really like?

SolsticeOfAdonis

Aristole, I am quite offended, I am a practicing wiccan/Pagan and I do not view sex in the same manner at all. I do think that sex is a very great thing, not to mention it is very human. Out of all the Wiccans/Pagans I have met not one of them were obsessed with sex. I mean sure some of our holidays/Sabbats have to do with sex but it is a celebration of life and love. And besides the Christians are the ones complaining about the sex, we are the ones actually haveing sex....lol. It's true, if you love someone be with them sexually. If you find somebody attractive and you want to have sex with them for just that sole purpose alone, by all means do it. All I am trying to say here is that us Wiccan/Pagans are not obsessed with sex. It is a part of life and it brings us pleasure, not to mention it is how we reproduce. Well, I put my two cents in, anybody else?

Brightest Blessings,

I think a reason many people struggle with a preoccupation with sex is because they have placed intense emotional energy against sex (except in a few circumstances).  Whether they understand it or not, subconciously there is a strong opposite emotional energy fixating on sex.  Let go of the opposite energies and there is peace. (Sedona Method)
I don't really know enough about Free Masonry to say anything about the site, but I get a weird feeling like it is way off the mark.  I didn't really see any humor in it.

btw  I am cmt.  I send you all my greetings and look forward to getting to know you all.  I am interested in learning what you believe and practice.

Hi there.
I'm new here and was just looking through topics, when i came across (no pun intended)this one. I AM a Freemason, and have been for eight years. I am active in my lodge, and was master two years ago.All I can say about the above web site is where did they get their info from?
Ive studied Masonic history, and never saw any references like that in any books of the sort that are offered by this site.(the images are all Masonic, but all are taken out of context.)
Masonary is not about sex. We are a philanthropic organization, based upon the concepts of brotherly love, relief and truth. You must subscribe to the idea of a supreme being,be it Yaweh, Jahova, God,Odin, Ra ect.
There is also a three degree level of initiation, part of which deals with personal rebirth. Yes, there is a lot of symbolism, but a majority of the above posters have it right, you can make anything profane if you have a profane mind.[:)]

Hi stubby,
Just wondering if you could put those images/symbols into context for us? or perhaps you could suggest a more accurate website..

Without giving away too much info; for I believe that each person finds their own path to enlightenment. Also, I only want to present that of which I am sure. Try www.pathcom.com , and www.mastermason.com/luxocculta/home.htm

I can hear my great-grandparents laughing so hard right now.  What a foolish thing for someone to put on a website.  I really wish the majority of 'christians' would get it together. aaakk

chromed

lol... Like stubby, I'm also a mason, and this site is not unique in it's attempt to show the "evil" of freemasonry. If you want to learn specific rebuttals to the most common complaints against masonry, I highly recommend :

http://www.masonicinfo.com/

Btw: Anyone who thinks masonry is about sex has never been to a lodge. Visit one, and you'll discover the real secret of masonry: it's about *FOOD*! :) A lesser known secret is that you get to dress up in a tux, wear manly jewlery, and one lucky guy even gets a sword to carry!

It is very unfortunate that religious groups stoop to new depths as their power base is eroded. The reason for such badly researched sites is to keep the masses away from societies which offer wisdom regarding the study of themselves and the true power that we all have access to. The cristian church has for years tried to keep the knowledge away from the masses. Shame on them.

Ultraveil

But what's really funny, is the vast majority of christian ceremony, is taken from pagan ceremony. The sign of the cross is taken from the kabalistic cross which is also used in masonary. If you don't like masonary, then you shouldn't use the same rituals in your church service!!

Blackstream

The sign of the cross is taken from the cross that Jesus was crucified in.  Since the Romans were using the cross before Jesus was crucified, I'm sure that cross had to come from somewhere and has other meanings.  But that other meaning is meaningless when used in Christianity because like all symbols, it's the meaning behind the symbol that's important.  In this case, it's the idea of salvation to humanity.  People didn't just one day say, "Hey that looks cool, let's use it in our ceremonies!"
There is no spoon

Ultraveil

Hi Blackstream, when I mentioned the sign of the cross, I wasn't refering to the actual symbol itself, I was refering to the tiny ritual that is carried out before services i.e "In the name of the father, the son etc etc."

I totally agree with you that the placing of meaning is very important in symbolism.

Tisha

It would be funny . . . if it weren't so sad!  Check out the christian propaganda against Freemasonry:
