Can telepathy make a better world?

Hi,
Yes, I also believe telepathy is possible. The world would be a better place with everyone using telepathy. There would be no secrets from people, thus knowing if a terrorist attack is going to happen or something else bad. If enerybody knew about energy, no money would be needed or food, as you can justcollect energy instead of food (im not sure if it is possible).

My opinion is that both of you are wrong. Telepathy is a form of communication. It can be one way or two way. There are different levels of it, just as the written word can be either very clear or very confusing. It is true that there are people who would use telepathy to do good, but without an equal measure of wisdom its power would be corrupted. We have the opportunity to turn off the tv, delete e-mail without reading it, hit the mute button during an obnoxious commercial, or even to leave the room when someone is speaking. If you find a book you hate, it is probably flammable. A powerful telepath could influence a weak telepath without even being noticed, and this can be done at a distance. Imagine a modern bank robber in a small village where they have never heard of using locks. Before we develop telepathy in everyone, we need to teach more basic skills.

An interesting thought Kalvy, but would not the telepathy, especially in the hands of the wrong people, just become another weapon? As Tom suggested, telepathy really is only a tool. If it were possible to influence governments to put more effort into more desirable goals, theres a good chance they would already have people to use as countermeasures. Its not the tools that need to be changed, its the attitudes of those who wield them.

Auraseer, interesting notion, but the idea has been expanded on before. The basic conclusion is we all have a need for a bit of privacy and to keep a few secrets. Imagine how oppressive the world would be if the governments could police your thoughts.

Humans aren't ready for this yet. As a race we haven't yet developed the spiritual maturity to handle it. We can hope for it however.

Before saying nothing, there's something I'd like to ask. Are telepathy, mental control and mind reading the same? Although I think they're, obviously, very related, I also think that there aren't the same. (This isn't important for what I'm going to say, it's only curiosity )
Well, I'd already thought about the bad use of telephaty (I'm going to use telepathy as a word applicable to the 3 words, no matter if they are the same or not ). In fact, it's something scaring, because as you say, if telepathy can be use for good, it also con be use for evil. However, I think good and light would finally beat evil and darkness (Although it could pass a long time until the battle ended )
But I wasn't saying everyone could use telepathy I agree we aren't ready for that yet. And also agree everybody needs some privacy (although governments seem to want to remove it... ) But what I wanted to know was if someone, with enough skill, and good intentions (not for himself, you understand what I'm refering to ) would be able to make world a better place changing how governments "think" (Perhaps, not only a person could do it, but it would be possible for a group, cause solution isn't only changing the budget of a unic nation, it would be bigger than that because of how world is actually, I know it )
And about Auraseer's comment concerning to energy, personally I have no idea, because I'm a bit confused about ki, chi, psi, internal energy (maybe I'm even using synonyms...), etheric body... and how they are all interrelated, but I think physical body can't collect energy instead of food (although, if food at the end it's turned into energy for the body...) I don't know. But I'm sure there is people in the forum infinitely more appropriate to speak about that than me (and you, one of them ) Well, thanks a lot for the answers

If I swing a baseball bat in a crowded movie theater while wearing a blindfold and spinning in circles, the odds of hurting someone are very high. Who it will be and what sort of injury will have to wait to be determined after the fact. It is a lot different than having telepathy and being able to scan a specific person for weak points. Of course, mentally disconnecting from a person before shattering that person's mind would be advisable.

The kind of telepathy which would save the world is being forced to feel in ourselves the harm or good we do to others. Even unintended harm counts.

i dont know about this idea, seems as though the world would be very borring, you would know everything about a person in the matter of minutes than actualy talking to them. Also, just the fact in being in a friends presence is sorta better then being far apart and still talking. A world with no secrets? seems too boring for me.

I was thinking in that some time ago, and I'll like to know if there is a chance to be possible. I'm going to explain what I think. I believe telepathy exists, and I also believe mental control can be possible if telepathy exists. So I was wondering if could it be possible to, for example, make bush use the money which is going to be wasted in the war to another better purposes, like could be research in alternative energy sources, or give homeless a home, or give food to hungry people all over the world, or education... Something better than wasting the money in bombs, tanks, guns... (It's only an example, please, don't attack me if you didn't like it )
So that's my question. I know that perhaps mental control isn't fair play, but it'd be for humankind and Mother Earth's good Thanks in advance if someone answers my question
