I admit it, I just wanted to use that title. But seriously, I had brought this up casually in another thread, but naturally my curiosity wants me to delve just a little bit further with it.

I've noticed that when I wear crystals in the form of jewelry, strange things happen to it. Specifically amethyst. Once I start keeping it near me for any sort of an extended time, it develops black blotches and cracks within it. There's no surface cracks, just what is inside making it look kind of like an ice cube that was just thrown into warm water. I've tried on a few different times over a span of several years. (This is while cleansing them)

Probably about six months ago, I experimented again. This particular amethyst, I had for years, though I did not keep it on my person at all. It looked fine. After a few days, it started displaying the blotches and internal cracks. (This was after a nice long cleanse with earth, water, and moonlight. I wanted to play it safe.) So here I am, one, frustrated that I just ruined another amethyst and two wondering what in the world has been going on.

To be honest, I really don't know much about crystals. I know that different ones have different traits and can help with different things. I look at the subject with an open mind, but I don't have much practical knowledge of them. Except that I manage to kill them somehow.

Has anyone heard of this before? Maybe my energy messes with amethysts or something? I think every so often that I should experiment with other crystals, but I never end up doing it. I had a regular clear quartz before and it didn't show any difference, but two types of crystals really aren't the best scope of things. And besides, isn't amethyst quartz?

So, ideas? I'm certainly curious for possibilities and opinions.

Amethysts shouldn't be exposed to sunlight, but I suppose you know that already.

Otherwise I don't know. I have good results with an Amethyst. If I keep it dangling from my bedpost at night at the head's side, not far away from my top chakra I seem to get more elevated dream messages from my Higher Self. So I concluded it helps in connecting with the higher levels. My precog or telepathic dreams however also work without it or with other crystals (or none maybe).

I do not have good results with it regarding health by the way. Amethyst is supposed to help with overcoming or prevent headaches. So far I cannot attest to any success with it (I have a headache day - not migraine though - every 7th day in the week or so, so there's plenty of opportunities to experiment with these things).

Our skin is acidic to stones and if you wear the stone against your skin daily that could cause changes to it. Also do you bath with it on? Amethyst is also used in detoxifying the body when an individual is trying to or dealing with substance abuse problems. I once made a Amethyst necklace for a woman who was trying to quit drinking.

I have absolutely no idea what could be the cause so I'm essentially wasting your time on this but I do think it's weird or at least odd.

But I am a gem stone NUT. I have always loved the idea of having a pirates treasure chest overflowing with gems and precious metals. Not for the monetary value (who am I kidding) but for the beauty of it. Anyways, I have a mini treasure chest (about the size of a shoebox) about a quarter full with silver and gold jewelry (some broken but not all) and lots of various loose gems. It is just the myriad of colors and light shining off them that is mesmerizing to me. I swear it is not the dollar value and I do not ever plan on selling any of them.

But I will GIVE the loose stones away to people who need to replace a lost stone or plan on having a custom piece made. No strings attached. I find that for every stone I give out, two take it's place.

Sorry for the worthless post.

So you like shinies, do you? Are you a dragon? o_o?

Hehe, I had forgotten that I had posted this before.

About the Amethyst, I had kept it away from sunlight and didn't keep it against my skin. It would be on the outside of my shirt. Oh, and I'd take it off in the shower. So strange!

So, its_all_bad, have you ever unintentionally murdered an innocent crystal?

I don't think so unless I'm snuffing their energy by hoarding them for my childhood fantasy.

I found this website and it explained somethings but not much. I first though that it might be a fake but that makes no sense since amethyst are quite common. Like Peridot (lime-green and beautiful), amethyst was an extremely valuable gem until they were discovered in abundance in the new world.

Hey Chops, China has the most valuable Peridot in the world so you should buy you a nice one before you move if you ever decide to. It would be a quarter of the price and it has some interesting mystic properties if your in to that.

Okay, I have something spooky to add to add to this. I, like the original poster, know nothing of crystal phenomenon. Nada. Nothing.

I'm telling you, though, that I bought these two crystals at a nature store some time ago. I remember buying them thinking "My, they look so clear and purple inside!" and that was one of the reasons why I bought them.

I took the crystals home, stuffed them in a shoe box for a while, and recently whipped them out. They were somewhere completely dark and I had no contact with them.

About three months ago, I whipped them out and kept them on my bedside table in a little velvet baggie where I had three crystals - the two I photographed and a clear quartz crystal.

After I read your posts, I thought "Pfft, nothing can mess up crystals that badly." I was wrong.

One crystal has a smooth inner texture (they are raw crystals, not cut), but the top part of the crystals are breaking out in tiny inner black... dots.

The other crystal is completely blotch free and has no black dots anywhere but it looks like someone took the inner part of it and smashed it with a hammer, repeatedly.

Picture one - Crystal has inner black blotches now, like a leopard. Tried cleaning. They weren't there before. Inner textures are smooth and not cracked (besides maybe a small amount)

Picture two - No black blotches, or blemishes inside of any sort. However, the inner textures look like someone shattered them with a hammer, like cracked ice cubes, as has been mentioned before.

*scratches head* What gives?!  :?

I haven't been able to find a reason :/ Or even a plausible explanation. I'd take a picture of mine, but it's currently packed away on the other side of the world right now.
