Hi,
I'm reading the newest version of Astral Dynamics (check it out from my library) and I'm on the part about affirmations. I can't seem to make up a good affirmation. According to the book it has to be present-tense. The one I was thinking about was "I'm going to astral project by 2012" or "I'm going to astral project before 2012".

Could anyone edit these affirmations to make it present tense ?

Thanx.

Xanth

You can't make those present tense.  Because the aim of them is to do something in the "future".

Try something simple like, "I am astral projecting".

Lexy

"I always astral project"
"I can astral project"
"tonight I will astral project"
"Life is only a dream and we are the imagination of ourselves."

personalreality

you want to make it a present-tense declarative statement.  you're putting out an intention here.

the other important bit that is being left out is positive orientation.  you don't want to have negative words in your affirmation.  by negative words i mean things like can't, won't, not, quit, etc.  you're speaking to your subconscious and it doesn't use negative words and it doesn't think in terms of future or past, only now.

you also don't want to be anything but confident.  demand that your orders be carried out.  your subconscious will listen.
be awesome.

Interesting topic and I already see my question being laid out by Xanth and personalreality - do we use present or future tense? In my opinion it is the intention and confidence that make them work, not the tense so much, but still I think it would be helpful to reach some kind of a answer.

you are not wrong about the intention.  but there are two different aspects to affirmation that need to be addressed.

on the one hand (where intention is key), using an affirmation is "putting it out there" for the universe to effect that change.

on the other hand (where present tense, positive orientation, syntax and language are key), using an affirmation is programming the subconscious, almost like self hypnosis.

so you have a metaphysical component where intention is very important, and you also have a more tangible psychological component where the way you say your affirmation is important.
be awesome.

What about "I always astral project in 2011" then if I don't project by 2012 then I can say, "I always astral project in 2012".

Xanth

You don't need the year.  "I always Astral Project" should be enough.

personalreality

"I easily project my consciousness away from my physical body"

"I am an astral projector"

"I regularly have Out of Body Experiences and have full memory of my journeys"

"I project and return to my body with full memory"

things like that.
be awesome.
