Hi everyone,

I was hoping that those of you who have been successful at having OBE's could better describe what the vibrations feel like.  I have searched through many, many pages here and there are a few good descriptions and a few rather vague ones, (IE. "vibrations are unmistakable").  I am sure they are unmistakable but how would you describe them to someone who has never experienced them?

I have not been successful yet in having a conscious out of body experience, though I have experienced various altered states in my attempts where there were several different sensations I was going through.  However, I am not sure what they were.  Vibrations?  Maybe, bthough I had not luck in separating while I was feeling the sensations that I did.

Any help here would be very appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Stu

Apart from the fact it's not actually important that you feel the vibrations you are asking a question about something that is so subjective that you will get different descriptions.

Buzzing, electric shock, rocking, jiggling, pulsating, an orbital sander, a jackhammer, pins and needles, Nitrous Oxide intoxication, boingy, every atom and cell oscillating, pain, ticklishness, intense localised pressure, pressure, light electric jolts, throbbing, an intense wind or current or a mild wind or current.. whooshing.. sucking...

What does pain feel like?

What does tickling feel like?

What were the different sensations you felt?

When i concentrate on vibrations my SP state becomes more stable  :-)

If I stick my lower jaw out this increases the vibrations... but it does nothing for me nonphysically... it's just interesting.

What were the different sensations you felt?

What I have felt could be described as similar to a numbness.  That sensation you get from novocaine at the dentist office is somewhat accurate.  This occurs after the sleep paralysis.  Tingling, numb pulses.  Then waves hit and cause strange feelings as I teeter between conscious awareness and a dream consciousness.  I give myself a suggestion to jolt me if I start to fall to deeply asleep, so I ended up sensing these short bursts of, what I would describe as non-painful electrical shocks.  There are no temperature sensations of warm or cold or feelings that I could be described as being the result of physical movement.  There is still sensation of the body, and by that I mean I can still sense my limbs.  In fact the sense of my physical body is somewhat heightened even though the paralysis is there.  The sensation or awareness of it is acute.  I assume this is only because I am narrowing my focus.

When I am in this state, I try to will the movement of my limbs.  At this point the sensations in whatever limb I am attempting to move take on an icy feeling, though I am not cold.  It intensifies the harder I will it to move.  I usually end up falling asleep right around this point, though I have been improving the length of time I have been able to stay consciously aware.  Yesterday, I was able to maintain it for an hour and a half, but still without success of being able to get out of body.  I kind of think I am just not taking it far enough or that I am focusing on the here and now too much.  My barrier is related to my expectations and I am having a difficult time getting past that.  I'm not going to give up though.  This just sounds too freakin awesome to not want to do.

As said above, you will get so many different answers about vibrations. So many people experience them differently. Personally, I don't really feel them anywhere in my body except for in my ears and my head. I have felt them in my legs and arms, but only a couple times.
To me they come in pulses that sound and feel like electric shocks or buzzing/frying noise. I only get them in my ears and head and it gets louder and stronger with each pulse

There are many different vibrations.  You can read about it on the internet or in ap books.  Do a google search and it will tell you a lot of vibrations.
There are other vibrations that are weird.  Occasionally I hear music.  The other morning I heard what sounded like the TV was on.  We do not have a TV in the bedroom.  One time I felt like a hair dryer was blowing cold air on me.  I could hear the noise as well.  I did not ap as that was very distracting.  A few weeks ago I heard was sounded like a helicopter landing next to my bed and I was moving onto it.  Other times you can see strange things.  That happens only occasionally.

the trick seems to be to relax through the vibrations and keep focus on the non-physical and away from the physical.

vibes are not necessary to achieve OBE. and in fact they may divert your focus back to the physical when you need to quieten and focus on non-physical reality (NPR).

I read this today http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/welcome_to_astral_consciousness/practice_but_practice_what-t39372.0.html

seems good advice.

It may help explain why not to dwell too heavily on vibes and simply use them as a guidepost.
