I have had a couple of dreams where I can actually feel physical contact with another person (the same person each time). My question is, is it possible to communicate with someone living in this way. I have heard of communicating with those who have died but I can't find any info on communicating with one who is living.

Um yeah. However, the degree of strength they come through would depend on how willingly involved or aware they are.

Communicating... yes but very limited. You couldn't express that tomorrow you want them to cook you a bacon cheeseburger. However, if you focused your thought or desire to a very specific and intense feeling / thought then it may be impressed upon them subconsciously (e.g. I love you). Again, possible, but not definite.
