Hi,

I'm a beginner with the subject of OBEs and I'm finding it absolutely fascinating.  In the last several months I've had several lucid dreams which converted to OBEs in which I experienced vibrations, buzzing, an exit, a small amount of RTZ, melting hands, seeing myself in a mirror, hieroglyphic script in my field of vision and a few other phenomena.

Lately, however, I've been in a little slump.  I'd been using the WBTB method with an OBE timer CD, but lately  it hasn't been working.  I've switched back to conscious meditation and I'm getting some better results than the last time I did the meditation, but no conscious-exit OBE yet.

For people who are at the intermediate and advanced levels - when I say "advanced" I don't mean like Robert Bruce, he's at the "master" level - on average, how many OBEs do you have per month?  I'm trying to set realistic expectations for myself.

Especially at the beginner stage, it's easy to get in a slump and then start thinking that you've "lost" the ability to do this.  This belief, however, is somewhat contradictory to my own personal philosophy about learning.  I believe that when you're learning a subject, it's the times during which you're having the most difficulty that you're actually learning the most.  I've counseled many people about this - especially when learning foreign languages, which is something I enjoy.

Hi atraveler

I have had about 100 or so OBEs (roughly half of them spontaneous and half deliberate).

That might seem like alot of projections but in fact the OBEs began more than 13 years ago (back in 1995) so that averages out to about 8 per year or less than 1 per month.

In fact there is no monthly average for me per se. On good months I can experience 3 or 4 OBEs within a couple weeks. Then I might go several months with no OBEs at all.

Two nights ago I had my first OBE since April (or May). (There was a lot of dream imagery with a lack of clear consciousness but I will be posting a description of it today or tomorrow.)

btw projecting directly out of a dream is potentially The Most efficient method of going out of body since every person dreams several times every single night.

Hi Grey,

Thanks for your reply!

QuoteThere was a lot of dream imagery with a lack of clear consciousness

All the OBEs I've had so far had up to 30 seconds or so of RTZ activity (being in the bedroom, looking at the ceiling or the wall, looking at my hand, etc. and the rest of each experience has been mostly dream imagery.  I have a pool in my back yard and I've had two or three pool-related OBEs; perhaps the presence of the pool has somewhat influenced the content of the experience, but the pools in the OBEs weren't my pool.

So far, I've had success with the "dream -> lucid dream -> vibrations & buzzing -> OBE exit" method.  I've been using an OBE timer CD with intermittent periods of silence and then beeps to keep me on the edge of sleeping an waking.  So far I have not yet had any conscious-exit projections.  However, I'm committed to keep practicing the conscious-exit method until I can do it successfully.

Thanks for your insight!
