Here's something that worked for me the 1st time I did it.  It's nothing grand or spectacular but it is richly rewarding and can become a practice in other activities as well.   :-D

Step One:
I don't know about you guys but I hate 'trying' to relax.  Too much time and energy to try and force what you do naturally every night. So just pretend to go sleep.  Don't think about.  Just literally go to sleep.  Your body has to actually believe its nitey-nite time

Step Two:
Focus on the exhale breath like your life depends on it.  You of course know of the 'sinking' sensations and it'll quickly bring you right into the trance state....but even more importantly by focusing on the exhale you are directing your consciousness to a single point which is the key to getting out.  It's almost like hiding from the brain so it thinks you're asleep.  Everything should fade out as you focus on the exhale ONLY. The exhale is powerful because its where everything in the body and mind relaxes a step further. So keep on...

Step Three:
(Optional) Either you'll fall asleep, which i did the first night, but I woke up on the side of my bed, consciously out of body.
Or
You'll enter a deep hypagnonic state where you can just 'WILL' yourself out.  Sometimes I'll just listen to the highpitched noise in my head and this will trigger the vibrations for me.  Then I say 'up up up' or 'out out out' and bump my astral head on the ceiling.

Step Four:
Practice.  You WILL get out of your body.  Simplicity is always best.

Have fun!

Thanks, ill try that.

My problem is that i cant focus for too long, at certain
points my mind just starts to wander around and the problem with that is,
i dont even notice it at first.

Edit: just fell asleep as alwys hehe
Where should i go with my concentration while breathing in
and should the exhale last longer then the inhale?

Realisation

I find that the easiest way to induce the vibrational stage or early OBE stage is, when you are about to go to sleep, to pick a spot on the wall or anything in front or above of where your head is laying and then concentrate on that spot. Eventually, all light will fade and your body will feel relaxed and your eyes heavy and then the vibrations should hopefully start to come: usually beginning at the feet for me and then spreading through my body quickly or your whole body might feel it happen at once. One time, I did this and when everything went black I imagined myself in another room, I felt my consciousness shift and the vibrations started.

I find this to be the easiest way for me, sure is alot quicker than focusing on relaxing all your muscles and saying things in your head :P

Your way is good too, I find that 40% of the time I actually have to be asleep for the vibrations to arouse: it makes everything easier.

Stimpy

should breathing be conscious or natural? because natural breath gets weaker and weaker until i cant effectively focus on it.

mornin' ya'll!!!

panthau, i think if you just focus on the exhale its easier. if you focus on the entire breath it'll become more like a meditation instead of a 'fall' into sleep. does that help? or just try both and see what works for you

stimpy, hmm, it should be the same breath as your sleeping breath.  a string of consciousness...but mostly natural caz too much consciousness will keep you up.

hey realisation, that's a good one.  ive done lots of techniques but now i wanna practice remaining conscious through the entire sleep paralysis so there's no black out.  I hate black outs!!!!  :x I just wanna go straight to the nitty gritty!!!!

I'll try this simple technique.  a few years ago I was able to get out occasionally, but lately I've been trying again lately and no luck.  typically i fall asleep to easily, and whereas I used to wake up with vibes - not so anymore....not sure why.
