Some time ago, I became interested in OBE... mainly because I used to have frequent lucid dreams during childhood and the concept intrigued me.  Just about the time I became curious about having OBE's, I had a type of dream I had always called a 'teaching dream'.  Whether it's a dream with my guide(s) or my higher self I don't know.  When I was little, I would often learn how to do things in my dreams.  I learned how to read mainly in dreams.

Anyways, in this 'teaching dream', I stated that I wished to learn how to OBE.  The response was a single question.  "Why?"  I had no idea how to answer it.  If there was a right answer or not.  The best I've come up with is because I'm curious.

I'm throwing this out there because I was wondering if any of you had a better idea of how to tackle the question of "Why?"

The Present Moment

Could you describe more about how you learned to read in dreams?

My answer would also have been curiosity.

Hi zyzyx

I would say the "right" answer would be the honest one.

Myself, I would also say 'curiosity'.

We all find nonsenses to believe in; it's part of being alive.

Well, if I remember correctly, in my dream I would see the word or words I had been trying to read and hear the word(s) being spoken to me.  I'm sticking with curiosity as well... thanks for the responses.

Curiosity, at first perhaps.  But in my humble opinion making a conscious effort to go out of your body shouldn't be only just for curiosity sake.  Perhaps the first time you go out, but after that, it's all about the learning.  It's connection to the universal spirit, it's knowledge and love and light and feeling free and being a part of a whole.  It's where we do our best listening.  It's where all time is now.

Going out of body for some people I can see would be for adventure sake, and for others perhaps to go to read the Akashic Records, or even to meet their spirit guides.  For even others it might be a rejuvenation of their own spirit.

**shrugs**  but, like I said, this is purely my own humble opinion.
