Well, lately I haven't been trying to OBE because I've been scared to see spirits (never had an OBE) but I decided to man up and try this morning. My TV was on and I was wondering if it will affect my progress (It didn't) and I laid down, closed my eyes, and breathed from my diaphragm. I did this for about 2-3 minutes and I started to not see those swirly things when you usually close your eyes and just see complete blackness (Is this the trance?). By seeing the complete blackness triggered the rapid vibrations in my eyes and I was getting random one second vibrations on my arm and body sorta. I decided to do the rope method and as I was doing this, I kept being distracted by breathing from my diaphragm and the vibrations. They were really distracting me and the vibrations stopped in my eyes but I was still being distracted. It felt like someone was saying "Keep going" in my head so I did but I stopped and then in my head it felt like someone said "Congratulations, you are now out of your body". I moved but it was my physical body. I was ticked -_-. It makes me mad that I was making so much progress weeks before but now I'm back to square 1.  This was also in a 10 minute period and was wondering how long does it take for you to get out usually?

Vibrations aren't needed, all they are, are a distraction. Try to keep your mind away from your physical, do some light day dreams. That'll help. When you feel the time is right, than go on with the rope method.

It all depends on how well you are primed for the experience.  It can happen before, during and after sleep.  I think that for the majority of people, the easiest way to induce an OOBE is after a nap or sleep.  Remember Robert Monroe's advice about preferably doing it from a rested or refreshed condition?

You can nap, get up, stay awake for a while to reduce the sleep inertia symptoms and then go down to induce.  Relax your body.  The body will quickly fall asleep and won't give a monkey's about the mind still being alert.  Or...

You can sleep all night, wake up in the morning, recognise that you are awake, remain still and relaxed, and then induce the OOBE from the hypnopompic state.  Sometimes it still works if you get up in the morning, use the toilet and go back down to induce.

Exiting the body post nap/sleep will happen in less than ten minutes, I've done it in less than two (sometimes in a few seconds!).  Exiting the body before sleep is harder and you can expect waiting around for hours - and there's more chances of falling asleep than anything else.

Here's the usual way that I do it in detail:

Boom

OK well you cant be frustrated and you cant rush this. You need to be totally relaxed, and these emotions will just end any relaxation.
When you start to feel those vibrations, focus on them, itensify them.

Someone suggested that the vibrations were like the fuzzy noise you hear when turning a radio dial between two radio stations. Its a sign that you are slowly focusing out of your physical into the non physical. You dont need the vibrations because it is possible to instantly switch, like when you have radio stations on presets. But the vibrations are a step in the right direction based on this theory.

From what you said, I also think you were trying to exit too quick.  Lucidology suggested a good exit technique that you can try without ruining the projection. As sometiems you can try exiting, and end up moving your physical body which ends it.  Instead of trying to move a limb. Just try and rotate your physical body clockwise or anti clockwise, imagine you are laid down on a spinning disc and can turn. If you feel like youre moving, youre non physical.  If you dont, then just keep relaxing.
