I have always considered sleep walking (somnabulism) to be a disorder, in the fact that it's not *normal*.

Normally during sleep, your body is incapacitated from your disassociated mind....so your mind can be dreaming that it's in an airplane but your physical body is not aware of it.

With sleep walking, your body is NOT disassociated from the mind, so it will walk around and interact with it's environment, but not be coherant of its physical reality.

As far as this being an advantage to mediumship, I do not know.  I suppose it could be, since both require an altered state of mind.  It would probably depend on how much control the person was able to have in this altered state of mind.  This is why OBE's are so powerful, because even though your mind is altered, you still have 100% control of your thinking brain.

Sleep walkers have 0% control of their thinking brain, but their body is going along for the ride.

Robert Bruce and Robert Monroe both agree that your many astral bodies tend to copy whatever the body you're focused on is doing, so to me it's not unreasonable to suggest that the reverse may also be true.  That means, in theory at least, a somnambulist's physical body may attempt to copy whatever a projector's 'active' astral body may be doing.  Of course I could very well be wrong, and I hope for your friend's sake that I am.

I am very curious, that if you have a friend with such a condition, if you have sought professional help with a person well versed in (para)psychology as well as clinical? I share Major Tom's concerns, although I would not recommend locking doors and windows. That could be dangerous too for many reasons. If you are bent on teaching your friend what you know or think you know about projection, I recommend that you do it with some sort of medical/professional supervision. Especially if she is exhibiting some type of focus (psychic or otherwise) with death.

Here si more information on my friend`s problem. She experienced  more somnabulism episodes when she was a child. She has already seen a neurlogist or psiquiatryst and they found a very small epileptic focus on her right temporal(lobule?). Never had convulsations. She is taken medications (Temperator) since then, this helps preventing impulsivity, ansiety, and depersonalitation episodes. We discover she had somnabulism since we tried to voluntary OBE with the "waking teknique". I told her to wake to hours before normal waking, do some reading and meditation, and then try to fall asleep repeating afirmations. Maybe she experience somnambulism every night, but we dont know for sure. I told her to stop the experiments, and we asume she is sleeping good, but ¿how can I know if she is or not still and has been somnabulism "all of her life"? I cant stay at her hoouse and her mother cant stay awake and watch because her job. So what we are goin to do is to spy on her sleep with a camera...

Ive been with her when she had a depersonalization epside, it was as if she could not recognize things around her and herself, she was touching everything asking "This is a wallet, rihgt? This is a car, my car right?, etc..  Sometimes she needs to touch her own nose to feel and recgonize she is still there. Medication helps a lot too.

She is a normal girl tough, she studies with me psychology at Mexico City University,....Im a little bit worried about her. She needs a lot of love too...

I,ve experienced OBe`s, voluntary and non voluntary, I wanted to share that with her, go some beautiful place, for example... but maybe this is not for her right now...what do you think?

Other think, wich is the relation between a brain lessure and PSi activity?   Thanks for sharing...

f sleep walking is the problem, and he really wants to project, then why don't you tie her down?
I need a signature that isn't stupid. :/

As a former practicing therapist for many years,I must say, do not ever let anyone tie you up or down or whatever. That can only be done safely in a clinical setting with 24 hour a day professional monitoring. Even then, it should be rarely done, usually to restrain a person from harming her/him self or others. Her bedroom is not a clinical setting nor is her friend a licensed professional. If her condition is so severe as to present a high probability of her harming herself or others, then she may need short term hospitalization until stabilized. Or, alternative healing methods, which I recommend, should be sought out first. However, without more information, and without actually seeing the patient, I cannot recommend any proper form of treatment. Nor should anyone else. (Legally as well as clinically). Once again, I encourage this author to seek out professional help where she lives. Advice over the internet without seeing a patient of this nature is treading on dangerous territory. The author may want to consult a directory of alternative healers where they live. They are both university students, and should have the knowledge to access such directory. The university's psychology department may be a good place to begin.

I was listening to Coast To Coast about 5 or 6 years ago and heard Albert Taylor say that, in his opinion, there was NO connection between sleep-walking and astral projection, since the body had to be perfectly still and relaxed to accomplish an OBE. Sleep-walking would therefore be anathema to going out of body.

Hello, I need your help.

I have a friend, she is 22 years old. I ve been helping her with astral projection. She expereince somnambulism instead of Astral projection. ¿How is this fenomena related to spirit, is it really a sleep disorder? She has a small brian lessure, she has strong deja vus, and feel when somebody is next to die.

I guess her phiscal body is following her astral body, coping its movements, ¿But why? Are somnabulistic people more capable of medium experience? ¿Or posesion by spirits?  Her body is not resting quite well... I told her to stop her night experiences and try to have a deep sleep. ¿What is somnabulism in a spiritual sense?
