Compulsive Swallowing during Focus-10

Dear travelers,

Thanks for this opportunity to post a question,
I have been working on the Monroe Gateway program consistently for nearly three years now.  I have had some great spontaneous OBE's in the past, however I have decided it is best to work with the foundation states, specifically Focus-10 and Focus-12 so that there is a smooth and fully conscious transition between states.

I follow the directions on the Cd's utilizing the Energy Conversion Box (ECB), Resonant Energy Balloon (REBAL), affirmation and then go into Focus-10.
As I have set up an ideal environment and water bed, my body relaxes well, however when I try to relax my jaw, the cavity in my mouth become the center of my attention and I start to salivate and can't stop.  This leads to swallowing, a feeling of tenseness in the jaw, more saliva and lots of frustration.  The rest of Focus-10 seems pretty good, with very limited awareness in the rest of my body.  So far I have tried the following to alleviate the swallowing and saliva problem:
1) Attempting to represent the swallowing as a symbol and putting it in my ECB in the early stage of the exercise and asking for help from my guides/INSPECS.
2) Attempting to divert the swallowing pattern by focusing more on other things, such as building more REBAL or doing some energy body work.
3) Having a break from Hemi-Sync and exploring the energy body development approach, which doesn't seem to demand a trance state as it is self-induced when vibrations are achieved.
4) Sucking in a bit to maintain a smaller mouth cavity and less volume for excess saliva to go, this means that the jaw can't be totally relaxed.
5) Pondering over whether the swallowing is symbolic and represents something metaphoric in my life that should be addressed prior to more Hemi-Sync.
6) Trying not to swallow...Ahhh!

Generally I feel stuck with this as the methods above have not worked so far.  Has anyone had this problem or overcome it with time?  What approach did you use and how did it work for you?
Thanks in anticipation :)

You might not be relaxed enough or too self-conscious. Try emptying your mind, "noticing", or focusing on a rundown. Don't focus on your body. When I first started hemi-sync a year ago I occaisionally had the swallowing problems, but once I learned how to relax and enter trance, it went away. If it becomes a problem, swallow and go back to what you were doing. If you were already in trance, it shouldn't be too hard to bring it back. It's kind of like falling asleep - your bodily processes slow down and salivating should stop.

Don't know if its just me or not, but I notice that if I have my tongue touching the roof of my mouth, as opposed to up against my teeth, I don't seem to salivate as much.

Although it could just be me!
Reality is what you perceive it to be.

Thanks Stookie, to be honest I haven't tried a rundown, for example counting? Or by noticing you mean; to be passively aware of imagery generated in the minds eye, such as imprints of the day's activities?

Thanks also Novice, I have also heard that touching the roof of the mouth also serves a purpose for energetic value, I can also try this, thanks :)

Lysear

yes, i have also experienced that, if you put your tongue on the roof of your mouth and also breathe through your nose, it helps a great deal.

domos-

In a rundown you create a situation in your mind and do it over and over again, moving all your attention into the visualization and away from your body.

This explains noticing:

Good Luck!

Thanks Stookie, That's a great idea, and a good way to take focus away from the body, yet keep the mind awake and alert :)   Thanks also Lysear, Its great to know others have had the same problem :)  I managed to induce some warm vibrations by changing my body position and lying on my face.......Its kind of like I was on the verge of sleep and then It felt like I had warm water running up and down my spine?  This was after an intro to Focus-12 and some energy body work from my feet, up my spine to the back of my neck.

in the contrary, im having more difficulties trying to stop salivating if i put my tongue on the roof of my mouth..  :monkey: is it something i ate?

Maybe someone has said this before (I'm a bit lazy today so as to read the all valuable posts from you, folks).

When I practice F10 I have one problem: my neck and my tongue are so tense that it feels they're going to kill me. The rest of my body is soooo relaxed and floating...

I also start to produce saliva. It's normal!, I realized this time ago with other relaxations techniques and it's a physiologic effect. Just enjoy, swallow it as many times as it's needed. You can swallow and go on being relaxed.

And one day I found out. If you try hard to relax you just don't relax. Try harder and it'll be worse. Fight your patience and you'll lose.

So, what's the correct way?, walk on the border, the border in between being awake and asleep. It's difficult, you could fall on the realm of Hypnos. So, the point here is hypnogogic imagery.

If you try consciously, for example, to relax your jaw and you just can't then forget about it. Forget your jaw. Stop your inner monkey, stop the inner chat and you'll start to move on to the border. You'll realize you're jaw has relaxed completely and that you're falling asleep. Then recover the control and move on again to the awaken state (in a kind of swaying, you know, from one state to another).

If you can wander in between this border you'll have no problem relaxing yourself completely.

I hope I've explained myself correctly. My glucose levels on blood are quite down right now ;-)
