Most amazing vibrations but why am I stopping there?

Hi guys - here's a question to experienced APers...

This morning I dedicated some time to attempt OBE and although I didn't leave my body I had the most amazing vibrations.  I seemed to be dissolving into nothing.  I knew I was safe, but as soon as my attention was drawn to 'what was actually happening', I would come out of it altogether.  So it was a bit annoying not to be able to go all the way through.

I had also asked for assistance from my helper, and I kept on getting this image of water dripping and forming ripples.  As I looked at the ripple, I was automatically sucked into it, and I realise it's a tunnel. Having been in tunnels before, I knew this was a good sign, but again I would become conscious, and get back to square one!

Can anyone shed a light on how I can stop being conscious and just go with the flow?  I am not scared of APing (I have done it before).

Thanks for your advice!

The vibrational state has the unfotunate side effect of being somewhat exciting which for some folks is enough to snap you back to full waking state.  What I like to do is to concentrate on trying to intensify the vibrations as much as possible by mentally moving toward the loudest, most vibrational feeling and staying there as long as you can.  I think of it as sort of a pencil standing on end.  Being in the vibrational state is like the pencil being on end.  Try and keep the vibrations going as much as possible by focusing on the sound and vibrations at the exclusion of everything else.  The longer you can keep the "pencil on end" the better your chance that you will suddenly slip out and be on your way to an OBE.

Hope that helps.

I understand the frustration. My only advice is to just keep doing it. The more often you get to that place and experience it, the easier and more normal it starts to get - you'll go with the flow because you're not thinking about it. Raising energy before an attempt may help too.

But unlike the previous poster, I find focusing on vibrations makes them go away.

If anything, it sounds like your doing pretty good :)

Thank you so much both Stookie and Token!!  I have taken note of your advice.

one good way to get past that stage is to concentrate on a meditative technique to alter your brainwave frequencies, those of which i don't remember are which, so you are more relaxed. One good one from a Buddhist technique, is to concentrate on on your breathing but not to try to control it. Allow it to naturally go along its course. be aware of but don't change, if your breathing is rhythmic or not. Once you feel good and relaxed, start to regulate your breathing, to slowly decrease the speed, and the volume. you will start to notice your hart slowing down. This is the desired affect, because you exhibit at this stage the required brainwave frequencies. There is no given time frame for this technique to last, for everyone is different. Good luck on your travels.

Hi Lucidreality

Thanks for taking the time to reply.  I just want to say that I had already gone past the 'breathing' and 'relaxing' stage, when I lost sensation of everything 'physical' and began to dissolve into nothing.  Focussing on my breathing would bring me back to the physical.  My aim is to stay at the 'non physical' state.

Again thanks for your reply.

That happened to me too at first. My mind would race with things like "oh man Im doing it, it's working!" then the vibrations would dwindle down and subside. After a while though it doesnt halt the vibrations. Im sure you will figure out how to increase the strength of the vibrations, it's like tuning a radio to a certain frequency. There is a way to obtain control over the state but its more of a mental process and cant really be explained. You just have to focus the right way, its like reaching out for it with your awareness and bringing them about.

Stookie

One explanation of vibes is that they're a side product of shifting from physical consciousness into non-physical consciousness. So by allowing this shift to occur, you're indirectly allowing the vibes to come. It may feel like your using your mental process to increase vibes, but your really increasing the shift, which in turn increases vibes.

Thanks again guys.  Will keep on practicing.

I sometimes ask the Universe why it has to be so difficult!?  Grrrrrrrrr....  :x

I'd say you should always do a reality check when the vibrations subside. You can often feel awake after you have separated. I missed many opportunities until I realised this. It's always worth doing, even if you are totally convinced you are awake as the astral can fool you completely.
A good check is to pinch your nose and see if you can still breathe, as this doesn't rely on any visuals.

Cheers.

Just want to add Nickspray makes a good point about doing a reality check.  Sometimes when the vibes stop, you actually have crossed over, but think you didn't because everything seems the same.  When I think I've gone past the critical point, my test is to nudge myself a little by gently trying to roll out off the side of the bed.  You have to do this very gently.  If you haven't crossed over, trying to roll out can be disruptive and kill the vibrational state, which is why you have to be very gentle about it.  (you will know you haven't crossed over because you can feel your physical body moving a little instead of just your astral body.)  If you have crossed over, then a gentle nudge will lead to you actually rolling out, and then off you go.  Also sometimes just trying to do a very gentle roll every few seconds when you are on the edge of the vibrational state (not before) can actually induce a crossover.
