Has anyone use music to help you get to that relaxed state?

Last night I tried listing to some and was knocked out in about 10 minutes because I wasnt expected to be that relaxed so quickly.  Then about 5 minutes later I woke up it a start and shot out of my bed.

I would recommend listening to Eric Whitacre
The two songs I listened to last night were
- Sleep
- Waternight

He uses rich harmonies and cluster chords which are the same as some of the relaxation CD's some people use

David Warner

ACDC, Metallica, Rush, Marilyn Manson to name a few..:)

Yep, there's nothing like dimming the lights, lighting some incense & candles, sitting on a meditation pillow, & blasting "Highway to Hell" out the stereo.

I have never listened to music with the intent of simply using ii to relax, (although now that you mention it I really should.)  I do sometimes put on some music so that I can try and concentrate on listening to it instead of falling asleep.

LOL, you can relax while listening to that kind of music?  I'd have never thought that music like that woudl help a person relax.  I always thought it would have the pretty much opposite effect.

I'm not into new age/synth music, but I do like a lot of jazz & reggae, both of which have a lot of relaxing tunes. But I don't really put it on to meditate to, just relax.
